The scent of male was strong, and it made Azura’s nose wrinkle in a distasteful fashion. She could already tell that the pack was going to be hard to get into. From the rumors she had heard of Erenyx...well it seemed like just the place for her black heart. Azura’s midnight black fur had a blue tint to it as the sun shimmered down from the slowly dying leaves. Autumn...one of her favorite times of the year. It wasn’t because of the colors, hell most of the colors were unattractive to her. It was because of the sweet and subtle death of each and every thing as they prepare for winter. Winter, another beautiful time. Where everything has frozen over, and everything is dusted in white. The only thing she didn’t enjoy about winter was the fact that she could been seen from miles away. A snort escaped Azura’s nose as she thought about the coming winter. She had a feeling deep in her gut that it would be worse than any of the other winters that she had experienced previously. A dark thought whispered through her ever darkening mind. It was the thought of having power, having it her grasp. The dark thought was like a deep pleasure for Azura, with that dark thought came other thoughts. Although, they weren’t as pleasant. Azura continued walking until the invisible border became stronger in scent. Her dark pooling silver eyes narrowed, and she bared her teeth at the smell. Male oriented pack, yes it was. Females would not be treated nicely here, but she could handle that. Her heart was made of stone, just like her will. If she were to meet the alpha by this chance...well...he would be meeting his match. The thought of meeting any male from this pack made her want to prove just how heartless she can be.

Standing still at the border line, her slender head was raised up. A humble sound was building her throat, it could've been a growl, it could've been a rumble but instead it was a howl. Her howl erupted from her open jaws, it was a howl for anyone near. It was a howl filled with many emotions, not one could be pinpointed. Azura was a wolf that didn’t like showing emotion, it was something she had adapted to. Over many years, she had just stopped showing emotion. Why show emotion when it could only get one hurt? The happy and loving emotions are what she hid deep inside of her, most wolves commented that she seemed dead on the inside. Which sure, that could be true but...she still had her anger. Azura had her strength as well...her strength was what scared most wolves. Being a female, her height and build was not of the normal. She stood proudly though, her height and strength making her what she was and is. A warrior. Although, Azura strives for much more than that. Power runs through her very living veins, and it something she will put a goal towards. Azura sat down, the oncoming chilly wind making her fur rise up. She looked up at the trees and a smile came to her satin black lips. Yes, this would be  her choice of home. Her choice of home, if it was as dark as all wolves said it was. She had heard many rumors once she had come to these lands, and her curiosity and her need for living in a pack grew strong. She still hated her family for what happened, but it wasn’t going to stop her from achieving what she wanted. Again, the thought made her smile as she sat on the border line of her new destiny.

Massive paws crushed the earth, connected to muscled legs that propelled the large pitch black wolf forwards steadily and swiftly through the forest. The Elite was making his routine walks at the border. His tall form stood out against the vibrant Autumn colours, a splotch of black against fierce red, orange and yellow leaves. His expression was as usual, reserved. Fairly emotionless with a pair of cold, ice blue eyes to accentuate it. It was a handsome face, though slightly scruffy at one of his ears with a slight pink scar, the fur having covered it well but slightly noticeable. His movements were relaxed, purposeful. Though Tye was not bored, far from it. His mind was writhing with endless thoughts. Thoughts that he would keep out of sight for the time being. He slowed as he heard the howl ripple through the air. Ah, a newcomer. Another demon to join the pack of devils and monsters. Wonderful. Tye started to break into a casual lope which turned into a powerful, relentless run. He should get to the howl before it trickled away, leaving him with no means of getting to the newest member of their pack. Leaves scattered the air, twisting as his paws shuffled through them as he ran. As he neared the border, he saw the wolf there. Slowing down, he eased back into a walk his gaze falling onto her.

She was larger and taller than the average female, though by how much he could not discern. She stood proudly which was a good sign. It would do no good for a female to have no confidence in herself here. A female needed to have confidence in herself, just as males did. Tye emerged from the trees to face her, straightening and rising to his full height and gazed at her. He would have smiled but unfortunately, he was not that expressive. But that did not mean he wasn't pleased to greet another potential pack-mate. He would welcome her but first he needed to know who she was and why she was here, as was customary and he would not chase her away unless she gave him a reason to. His cool gaze was studying her, running over her form and a few moments passed before he finally spoke. His voice came out strong, deep and clear, "Greetings I am Elite Tye. Who are you and why have you come to the borders of Erenyx?"

It didn’t take long for Azura to be able to taste a new scent. Her nostrils flared as the wind drew the male’s scent closer. She was actually impressed with how fast her howl was answered. She kept her body upright, and her head up. She was confident, but she wasn’t so confident she was full of herself. Azura knew she was strong, but she didn’t let the thought of power or strength go to her head. Azura could hear massive paws crunching on leaves and she could almost feel the vibrations in the ground as the male ran. His scent got stronger as he came closer, and when he slowed to a stop she saw the leaves around him blow away. Azura kept her head up, her unusual silver eyes sparkling in the low sunlight. The male was large, dark pelted and with shocking blue eyes. His eyes were something else, and very attractive looking but she wasn’t here for feelings. She was here for a pack. Azura looked over the male, noticing the pink (almost covered) scar on his ear. The male didn’t look stressed, but of course who would be in a pack like he was in. He looked relaxed, and almost as if he enjoyed encountering new wolves. He walked up and and she noticed his stance, it was relaxed but dominant. He wasn’t going to let crap just fly by him, which was a nice touch. Most males wolves were always intimidated by Azura, which is why she never thought of looking for a mate. She wanted a strong male, and she never ever found one that could suit her qualities. Azura pushed the thoughts of a mate out of her head, she had no time for one. What would be the point at this moment?

Azura saw something flash in his eyes for just a moment, but it had been less than a second. He was one that hid his emotion as well. She could see it in his face, for she did the same. Although, that was not going to be the topic of their conversation, it was whether or not she was going to have a home here. That was why the male was here, why he stood on the other side of the invisible border, having the privilege of being able to accept others into the pack. She had a feeling joining a pack was similar to what her brothers and sisters always play acted. Howling, asking for acceptance, plead with, and then receive. Well...Azura wasn’t about to do the pleading part, she would stake her claim and if the male did not like it, she would ask to see the alpha. It would be interesting asking this male’s questions, and Azura could see herself lying if she had to but that was no way to get into a pack. Lies and slander, that was how any wolf lived now a days. With flick of her tail, her attention was turned back to Tye as he spoke to her. “Hello Elite Tye.” She spoke, her words moving like smooth water over a lake. They were smooth, but there was a hint of cold in her tone, but that..well it was always there. “I am Azura, and I have come to the borders of Erenyx to become part of the pack you are so proud protecting.” She said a slight chuckle escaping her throat after her words. It was a chuckle that had no humor, but it held some meaning that Azura had...emotions.

She kept her head up and Tye noticed her eyes as they were sparkling, a strange shade he didn’t recall ever seeing before. Luminescent silver like moonlight melted and whittled down into two pairs of eyes. It would surely attract many males but he was not one of them. His feelings, of the romantic kind, had already been swayed by another. His mate. But he acknowledged their beauty nevertheless. As he waited for her to answer, his cool gaze never straying but instead keeping locked on hers while maintaining unflinching eye contact he wondered what tricks, if any, she had. Tye didn’t play those sorts of games. Now games of strength and physical prowess were an entirely different story. It seemed as if she wasn’t one of those wolves but then again, he would never know. She had a poker face. She would not betray any emotion but neither would he. The one truth Tye could see was that she was in need of a home that Erenyx could provide for her and it could do so if she could bring something of worth to them. Tye did not know if this was the first pack she had joined. But he knew that there could have been many ways that she could have gone about this affair after she had been greeted. She could have pleaded, begged or become submissive in order to appeal to his sympathies to let her in. But that would never have worked. At least, not with him. He wasn’t so sure about everyone else. So he was glad she was in effect, staking her claim. It amused him slightly but only because it was a refreshing sight. Now he had to see what she’d say. Would she lie? Perhaps but he’d wait to see. His ear twitched as she chuckled humourlessly. Was that emotion? No, no that wouldn’t do. Erenyx wolves were made out of stone! Tye was joking of course. Sarcasm was another trait he held. In moderation.

Finally she spoke, giving him a name and what she was here for. It sounded genuine. Her voice was smooth as silk but it had a noticeable coldness to it. That was alright. It warmed the cockles of his heart. But he was not a lover. Far from it. He continued to gaze at her with ice blue eyes, his attention trained on her.“Well you’re in the right place. These are the borders of Erenyx, home of all that is unholy and evil with our Alpha, Teren at the helm. Tell me, what skills and abilities do you have to bring to this angelic, saintly pack of ours Azura? I cannot accept you if you have nothing to give to us,” Tye said, his voice echoing bass-like through the autumn air.

Azura’s eyes were a strange color, and it was a color that either wolves enjoyed or absolutely hated. It was the actions they put upon themselves that made it so. Azura knew that her eyes could hold a lot of emotion if she put her mind to it, but most of the time, her eyes were just dark and cold. Tye looked the sort that didn’t want to just mess around, he would want to get down to business. It was something Azura could appreciate, she hated being jerked around. She would rather get the action sought through rather than beat around the brush. Azura appreciated that Tye’s gaze never wandered, never went off of her own brightly colored eyes. When she was talking, she liked to be direct, she hated having to catch a wolf’s eye if she were talking. As Azura sat there, the leaves twirling and falling, she thought about the male wolf that stood before her. How many wolves had come crawling to the border, weak and devastated? How many had begged for entrance, begged for food? How many had been submissive? The thoughts made Azura want to throw up, they were stupid. What would would bow down and become so submissive without even knowing the pack first? Azura had taken her time, and got to know the pack from the whispers of others. She believed some and others she didn’t. It was all about patience, and even if Azura had come crawling in weak with hunger, she would kept an iron will because...that’s just how she is.


“Well obviously you can’t accept someone if they don’t have anything to contribute.” She said, noting that it was common knowledge. It was something she had heard many wolves say when on patrol. She had never been allowed to accept anybody into the pack but once. A cold grin showed on Auzra’s face as she relaxed in the chilly autumn day. “My skills are far and wide. I am very skilled fighter. I was taught since a young pup that fighting is valuable skill.” She flicked her ears, remember the words her mentor had breathed to her. “Fighting is a passion that i withhold, and with my size i was always referred to as the...tank.” It was some slight humor, and her voice changed slightly just to show that it was humor. Her tone changed as she continued to speak. “I was raised to be a leader, and have come in hopes of rising in ranks until I am at least under the alpha. I am confident in that I can rise up...if i try hard enough.” She said, revealed her teeth as she spoke, some dull excitement in her voice. Yes, she wanted to rise up into the ranks, and it was harmless to tell this to Tye. Unless he was after the same rank, but she doubted that much. The male seemed nice, but everyone in Erenyx was probably cold and dark, just like her.

Standing among fiery red and orange leaves, Tye waited for her answer. He never let his gaze stray, his form still in the wind as it scattered leaves among them. He was a straight-shooter, perhaps so much to his detriment. But that was who he was. She was the first wolf he had greeted at the borders. He knew that the wolves here were not weak. Even the weakest wolf here had some steel, some iron will that could not be broken. Or they could not have survived here. As such, he had not encountered anyone who had begged for entrance or food. He did not know if he would so cruel as to deny them food if they were at the point of death. His cold eyes seemed to warm slightly as she finally spoke, referring to her nickname as a "tank" in a joking way. There was only one other female he could think of that he would think of as a tank because of her size and strength. He did not doubt that with Azura's size she could have very well been a tank. And he could see the humour in that. When she finished, he said in a deep rumble, "You will find many here that have the same backgrounds. We are a warrior pack and you will fit in well as you seem to have a warrior's heart. But tread carefully where your other goal is concerned. In regards to your other goal, be careful. You may achieve it. You may not. But it was not a position to be gained easily or without pain. From what you say, you have all the qualities to make a fine warrior. Welcome to Erenyx, Warrior Azura."

Listening to his words, she took note of the change in his voice as he warned her of the rank she wanted to achieve. Azura knew, when she stepped foot on these grounds, that her goal was going to be hard to achieve. She knew that she would have to prove herself worthy to many before she would be able to reach the rank of beta. She knew that many females had passed through these lands but she was sure all of them had trouble reaching their ranks. If they even had ranks worth mentioning. She would have to show just how much of a "brute" she could be in order to get the rank she deserved. She could feel it in her veins, just how much she wanted it. She wanted to prove how worthy she was. She wouldn't do it by means of sex, she would do it by physical work. As the leaves scattered around them, and the wind picked up, she felt a good shiver run down her spine, her tail lifting a bit. Accepted, Warrior Azura. The words sent a thrill through Azura and she smiled at Elite Tye. "Thankyou Elite Tye. I will heed your warning, i always knew that i would suffer before I could reach the rank I wanted." She gave the male a nod, the "Thankyou" was probably the only gratitude that any male would hear from her. If she ever got a mate, well maybe he would get gratitude...or what ever they called love. Love was a rare thing, and she never felt love. She pushed all thoughts out of her mind and stepped over the border, a smile on her her black lips. Her new home awaited her, like the open wings of a mother bird to her baby. This was her home.
