| Yuki padded quietly through the barren moor, her thick, course pelt insulating her nicely against the chilly autumn breeze. It wasn't pleasant necessarily, but she much preferred the cold to the excessive heat of the summer months. She knew it would snow when winter finally arrived; then this place wouldn't look all that different from her homeland.
She huffed quietly to herself in annoyance, rolling her steel grey eyes at her useless nostalgia. What's the point of remembering that place? she scoffed silently to herself, her expression austere. It's behind you. Usagi is no longer there, and neither is Hasoka. Her lip curled up in a diminutive snarl as she reminded herself of her target, a hidden fury prickling beneath her pelt. All I need to focus on is becoming stronger, heightening my senses, sharpening my techniques. Falling victim to depressing memories would only be a hindrance.
The russet furred she-wolf hastened her meandering pace, her demeanor rigid and austere with purpose. This pack seemed ideal from everything she'd witnessed thus far; the territory was extensive, and her new found pack mates all appeared to be capable warriors in their own right. Really there just a few annoyances. The elites were uppity and sensitive when their "inferiors" refused to treat them like the almighty gods she knew they weren't, and the obvious mysoginy underlying the pack's social structure was an enormous obstruction. Still, she wasn't one to back down from a challenge. Adversity is what strength was built upon, after all.
The long legged fae paused abruptly then, a familiar scent wafting into her nostrils. It was warm, earthy, enticing; she could already tell what unfortunate creature it belonged to. Rabbit. It wasn't a meal she herself would prefer, but then again it wasn't really for her, anyways. She had been admitted to the pack as a hunter and had yet to procure any kind of sustenance for her fellow members. If she really wanted to be accepted, or at least tolerated, she had to prove her metal to those sexist scum bags. A rabbit was a scrawny excuse for a snack at best, but alas, she was hunting alone, and food was food. She didn't care if whoever ended up receiving it blew a fuse. They could go ahead and starve if they were truly stupid enough to waste a meal of any kind, especially with the approaching winter.
The red colored wolf lifted her snout to the frigid air, carefully sniffing out the source of the tantalizing scent trail. |

| It wasn’t uncommon for Malfurion to wander away from the others. In fact, considering he had yet to stop by and see his cousin Cliché, he wasn’t in the mood for chatting just yet. He’d take it one wolf at a time, for now, he was growing hungry. His ears perked up as he sniffed the air, off in the distance he could smell rabbits. Their smell unforgettable, as it was a warm, earthy scent. They smelt like the forest floor, and dirt, and dust, but oh so delectable. He licked his chops, as he had begun to salivate at the though. Without another thought he trotted off into the direction of the game. His dark fur shining as the afternoon sun hit his back. His facial hair, dark, mixed with grays and browns. His ears perked up in an alert manner as he trotted forward. His muscles flexed under his pelt and especially along his shoulders and thighs it was clear just how strong he was. He was now a warrior for this Erenyx Pack. But so far, he was more loyal to Guardian Chiara. She had plans, and he had offered his services in a hush hush manner to her. Allies, it was a glorious turn of events. He snickered at the thought, as his insanity broke through his mask and he took in a deep breath, hiding it. He couldn’t get himself away like that, no. He had to control the voices, he had to control his mind, he had to control, himself.
He crouched as he grew closer to the game. Off in the distance he could see it, and yet, if he made any sudden movements, it’d be gone. He lowered himself to the ground, moving slowly, steadily toward it. The thought of popping its little neck was causing him to become impatient, but he remained still. Saliva leaking from the sides of his maw now, and he licked his lips once more. It was then that he smelt another scent and he stopped. Wolf, it was definitely a wolf. He sniffed again, and it was a fae. Today was turning out in his favor totally. He had been accepted into the pack, and now was meeting another femme. Wonderful. was his only thought. He looked around slowly, as to not startle the hare that was still quite a few yards ahead of him. Where are you….she wolf? He thought to himself. He saw her off to his right. Rocks were in his line of sight, but he could see the russet colored wolf partially. He turned his attention to her, and made his way over, remaining hidden behind the boulders.
He stalked toward her, slowly, quietly. His larger form surprisingly remaining stealthy. "I saw it first, m’lady." He said, his low voice gruff, and serious. While he was partially kidding, as he was not going to fight a fae over a rabbit, he really was just testing her response. Perhaps she was jumpy? Submissive? This could be so much fun then, however if she wasn’t, he could be the charming, conniving snake he always was. Either way, he could handle it. His eyes flicked between her and the unaware rabbit now. His form was still hidden behind one of the various, and randomly placed boulders on the terrain. "Don’t charge too soon, you’ll spook ‘im." He tilted his head at her, watching her. His eyes slowly looking over her figure, had he been a normal wolf, he’d probably had found her cute. However, having a mate was a far cry from something Malfurion was interested in. He’d have to get to know someone on his own terms before anything like that happened. He smirked now, waiting for her reply. Would she be sassy, or surprised? Something told him she would be.

| The red furred she-wolf halted where the scent was strongest, and she crouched low beneath the yellowing underbrush, her dull grey gaze peering out between the heather. There a little ways off stood the diminutive rabbit, the object of her endeavor. It sniffed about the dying grass beneath it, its nose twitching sporadically as it foraged for what little food it could find, completely oblivious to the predator lurking a few yards off. Yuki lowered herself further so as to remain unseen, her mouth watering a bit at the animal's enticing aroma. She hadn't eaten in a while herself, but she definitely wasn't stupid enough to act on her hunger. Once she killed this thing it was going straight to the pack. Her lip curled up slightly as she shifted her weight forward, cautiously preparing to strike.
She was startled out of her focused state, however, when an unknown voice spoke to her from behind. She snapped her head around to glimpse the stranger, a large brute with a dark brown pelt and amber eyes. Her tense, surprised demeanor immediately slackened then with annoyance. You really couldn't smell or hear him coming?! She snapped silently to herself, irritated by her lack of awareness. Perhaps living alone for so long had degraded her senses. She scowled; she needed to fix that.
"Really? You saw it first, coming from behind me?" She scoffed sarcastically at his statement before turning her attention back to her prey, her steel grey gaze hardened into a piercing glare. "Unless you're clairvoyant, I seriously doubt that." She peered carefully out at the diminutive animal, momentarily concerned that it had been alerted to her presence. Fortunately it still appeared to be ignorant, as it had moved much more than a little aimless hop.
She huffed. Who was this male, interrupting her hunt like this? He appeared to be a pack member, from what she could tell of his scent. Still, the signature Erenyx smell wasn't really established on him yet, moreover it clung to his frame in a thin veil. Beneath that there were underlying scents and fragrances, from a variety of places she couldn't identify. So he's new... She concluded quietly to herself as she examined him from the corner of her eye, her ears pricked with a slight curiosity.
He was fairly tall for a male grey wolf, but he wasn't lithe like the long legged fae. He was bulkier than her, and probably stronger. She narrowed her sharp grey gaze then, her nails sinking slightly into the cold, tough soil beneath them. He better not have come here to harrass me. she thought testily to herself, her demeanor alert and analytical. I'll fight him off if need be.
She growled slightly at his advice, her ears flattening against her head. "You know what else will spook it? Talking too loud." She hissed quietly in his direction before exhaling a curt sigh. "Look, if you're going to nag me, you might as well help me catch this thing." |

| Malfurion’s ears perked up as the Fae jerked her head back to look at him. He tilted his head and was not at all surprised by her response. In fact, he let out a low chuckle and shook his head. "I-" he was cut off as she began to speak again, this only made him chuckle harder. He sat down then, using his back foot to scratch an itch on his shoulder. He stood up afterwards and shook out his pelt, and focused back on her. In his own way, he was showing her he was not intimidated by her. Hell, the Alpha could have been standing in front of him, and while he would have been respectful, he wouldn’t have given a damn. He spoke up then as she got quiet. "I see you are quick to fire back, m’lady. Allow me to explain, I saw it because I was off to the left of you. Downwind, perhaps that’s why you didn’t smell me. And no, I am not clairvoyant, you snarky little thing." He sounded more amused than anything, as he chuckled again. When she looked at the rabbit, so did he, but it was blissfully ignorant to their presence. "However, you m’lady, are upwind of my snack. One good gust of wind, and our little party over here will surely scare him off." He chuckled again then, finding all of this extremely amusing.
He had not come to harass her, as he did not harass anyone, unless they were about to die by his own jaws. Her silence for a moment intrigued him slightly, as the gears of her mind were surely ticking away. She was smaller than he was, and a bit cute, in a dangerous kind of way. Her attitude however, that was what interested him. Most fae’s he had met were merely pushovers; they did not stand up for themselves. This one however, she had bite. He liked bite. Another thing he noticed was she was skinnier. He figured she must be a hunter, as her legs were also long. He was built more like a brick wall, all brawn, but with him, he also had brains. When she spoke again, his ears perked up. Her ears however had flattened on her head, and he chuckled again. "Oooh, touchy. Don’t be such a sour wolf, and follow me why don’t you?" He turned taking a step away as her last words hit his ears. "If you want help, follow me, if not, you can scare it away." He motioned for them to walk back to his original hunting spot, chuckling as he did so.
"My name is Malfurion, Warrior Malfurion, m’lady. And you are?" He looked over his shoulder at her, and he noticed this time she had grey eyes. He was so used to seeing amber eyes; almost all the wolves in his old pack had had them. With that thought, came Illidan’s face and he blinked it away. All of his politeness so far had been merely for show. He was not the polite and helpful wolf that he was letting on to be. On the inside he secretly wished to never have to speak to another wolf again, and the other part realized that was the only way to make friends. Be fair, play nice, and gain friends. Chiara had been interesting as she had caught on fast to his honeyed words. While he could have lied to the Guardian, he chose to save his energy for a time when he really did not want someone figuring out his past. Cliché was going to be the hardest to convince he suspected, but he wouldn’t know until he went to meet her. So far, he was procrastinating.

| The russet furred fae's lip curled up slightly in a harsh scowl at his chuckled words, her stone grey gaze suddenly sharp and piercing. "We wouldn't be worrying about the nonexistent breeze right now, sir," she snorted in retort, intentionally mocking his use of formal language, "if someone hadn't interrupted me." She hadn't been overly concerned with the direction of the wind should it actually cause a significant gust; She was planning on creeping up around the animal, using the underbrush and her tawny colored pelt to her advantage. If she put on a fast enough sprint and charged from the shortest distance she could manage, she would have been able to run the diminutive animal down fairly quickly. It's shock would have made it slow to react. She supposed her strategy could still work though, if she revised it and took the male's haughty presence into account.
Her cruel expression reverted back to its usual carelessness as he suggested that she follow him, and though she wasn't overly keen on remaining in close proximity to the brute for so long, she had asked him for his assistance. She glanced at the rabbit for a moment to ensure that it was still oblivious before slowly treading after the male, her lithe, agile body weaving through the heather with relative ease. She primarily kept her dull steel gaze focused on their prey as she silently crept along beside him, though she did caste him a quick, sharp glance when he introduced himself as Warrior Malfurion.
Warrior, huh? She thought silently to herself as she analyzed the male, a tiny smirk evident on her austere features. I wonder if you're really as skilled as your rank claims you are, brute. He did possess a fairly bulky build, and his immense height was also an obvious advantage. Still, brawn wasn't everything in a fight; she had advantages of her own, like her speed and reaction time. Everyone had strengths and weaknesses of some kind with regard to combat, and it was foolish to believe that just because a wolf was larger or stronger they would automatically be victorious. No... The factor that really decided the outcome was who had planned a better strategy, who was more cunning. True success in a fight came down to intelligence.
She was pulled from her contemplative demeanor when he spoke once more, asking for her name. "Yuki." she replied simply, her tone low and reserved. "Hunter Yuki." She figured he would have guessed she was a hunter by now based on her appearance and current endeavor, but still, it didn't hurt to practice her useless pack formalities.
She halted abruptly once she deemed they were close enough, and she crouched a little lower as she shifted her attention away from their objective, doing well to keep the top of her back beneath the wilting moor grasses. "We might as well use our numbers to our advantage. I'll circle around the other side of it and keep to the underbrush. You lie in wait over here, and I'll charge it from the front to send it in your direction." she glanced back toward the little rodent then as it hopped about placidly out in the open, her voice a curt whisper. "Kill it when it's come within your reach." |

| Malfurion stared at the spot he had once been at. The only thing running through his mind was how tired he was of talking to others. He just wanted to relax, and enjoy being alone. Unfortunately, to learn about this pack, he had to remain social. He also had to hide who he truly was, and that was difficult all by itself. He could not let things that usually irritated him, irritate him, nor could he lose his temper as easily as he normally would. His ears perked up as he heard words and he just chuckled. The wind was there, but since she was amongst the boulders she may not have felt it. He was not going to give her the satisfaction of arguing however, as he was growing tired of playing nice. A part of him just wanted to tell her to hunt the damn creature so he could just leave and wander off. He didn’t feel he was gaining much from arguing with her on how to kill the little critter. He shook his head slightly, and stretched as Yuki stopped suddenly.
Her name was interesting, as well as her attitude. He crouched down with her a bit startled. Had it seen them or something? He looked at her, but her lack of panic told him all he needed to know. She was just being a hunter. He snorted softly and chuckled again. "Who put you in charge here, Huntress?" The smile on his face would have given away the fact he was just teasing her. He stared at the critter as it hopped about, and he listened to Yuki. She had a good plan, and he hoped it would work. "Better hope I am quicker than I look." He said with a chuckle before beginning to turn and head in the direction she had directed him to go. He looked over his shoulder at her. "Wag your tail as a signal or something, so I know you are about to charge the critter." With that, he crawled away remaining low until he was behind a boulder.
While he was hidden behind the boulder he trotted to the small passage that the critter would more than likely flee towards. It was a narrow trail that dipped down and then up again to the small hill the critter was hopping about on. On each side were boulders, and small trails, he assumed rabbits used, were in each direction through the grass behind him. He hugged the dirt wall to his right and looked over his shoulder down the hill to where Yuki would be heading. She hadn’t shown up yet, but when she did, he’d be ready to hide quickly and wait. He’d hear the animal long before it came barreling along the small trail. |

| Yuki frowned slightly at his remark concerning his speed. The thought had crossed her mind, but she had quickly dismissed it as insignificant. In theory, if he waited until it had bolted near enough to him, the sped of his strike wouldn't matter as much as his timing. Besides, she didn't really doubt his ability in the least; he was older her than her and looked to be fairly experienced. She had formulated her plan under the assumption that he'd be capable of catching the creature. Still, if speed did become an issue she'd chase after it herself. There was a low chance she'd be able to successfully run it down, but it was still better than just letting the potential meal scamper off.
She nodded austerely in acceptance of his final claim before she crouched low beneath the heather, quietly making her way towards the ignorant prey item. She was exceedingly careful in where she placed her paws, lest she make enough noise to alert the unsuspecting rabbit. Closer she slunk, the white fur of her underbelly brushing the trampled plains grasses beneath her, until finally she had reached an amiable spot to commence her attack.
Slowly she shifted her stone grey gaze to peer through the grasses on the other side, meticulously picking out Malfurion's dark colored pelt. She lashed her tail sharply to the right, signaling the initiation of her plan. She tensed the muscles in her hind legs in preparation, her upper lip curling up in a snarl before she exploded from the underbrush, her paws hitting the dirt with a harsh thud. She barreled on towards the creature, her long, limber frame burning with adrenaline.
Startled by the sight of a wolf sprinting towards it, the rabbit immediately turned and bolted in the opposite direction: right where the large male was lying in wait. "It's headed for you!" She shouted resolutely, her pace slowing slightly as she allowed the frightened hare to bound towards him, her flint like eyes narrowed in analytical concentration. |
