Heavy paws struck against the cold earth, which was now covered in a thin layer of crystallized snow. Winter had never ceased to bore him, with the way it covered the lands. He didn't dislike winter but he wasn't a big promoter of it either. Since earning his new rank, Altair had felt different. He had only a little more power than when he was a warrior, power is not what he wanted. He had proved to himself that he could still handle a rank, just in different situations. Continuing his brisk jog, his muscles now warming up against the crackling cold he began checking the border. This was something he knew the other ranks often did, but he felt it was good to keep them in line and make sure none had crossed the invisible barrier. Following the border, he found breaks but only from animals. No wolves had crossed their barrier, and if they had they were old scents from previous meetings with new wolves. Slowing his gait, the large brute made sure to remark any other weakened borders before continuing on. So far, the day had been peaceful. Only a light snow had begun to fall but it wasn't like the blizzard they had just received. His head, neck, and back were speckled with bits of white snow layering on top of his thick fur. Pausing in his steps, he watched a long snow flake fall from the frozen grey sky above, and land directly on his muzzle. It melted one it had touched but just for a moment he could see the beauty in such a delicate object. Breathing out, wisps of white escaping his lips he turned towards his left. Ears pricked, he listened. Yes, there it was again, an echoing howl from the trees. He didn't recognize it but he knew it was closer to the southern border which meant it was either a lone wolf or another pack wolf. Trotting along Altair stuck close to the shadows of the barren trees, seeing as the sun was beginning to set. It brought on delirious chills making him shiver despite his thick warm fur. He trotted forward, now catching the scent of the brute who stood at Agavos border. It was an unknown scent to him, which only made him trot faster. Coming upon the brute, Altair lifted his head, ears pricked in a showing of dominance. He could see the wolf shivering in the wind, as Altair came to a stop. "Hello young brute, you stand at the borders of Agavos. What brings you to these lands?" He asked, keeping his voice firm, and his posture erect. This was his first border acceptance, and he wasn't about to mess it up. Looking over the brute before him, he took mental notes, remembering his scent and soon his name.

Standing on his toes, he watched silently ears erect still. He was waiting for a reply. He had seen the brute jump slightly at his sudden appearance, and an amused smile twitched the ends of his dark lips. Waiting for a reply, Altair was able to finally get a good glance at the multi-hued wolf before him. He was quite smaller, but smaller didn't mean weak. Every wolf had a chance, unless they were to cocky. Eyes wandering over the male, they shot back up to Spencer's eyes as he spoke. It seemed as if the crisp air and perhaps nervousness made his voice stutter. Again, Altair felt amused but he wasn't going to show that easily. "Fresh start eh? What makes you want a fresh start? Furthermore, I need to know your name." He paused for a few moments to speak once more, "My name is Altair, Delta Altair." He said speaking once more, still standing in a slight dominance form. He felt relaxed as he began to speak more and more. This was easy, at least easier than he had expected. Although, he wasn't worried about this. It felt like water off the back of a duck. He had done this a few times before things had become complicated.

Listening to the smaller wolf, he was silent. As Spencer went on with his short explanation, Altair watched him. He wasn't trying to make the young lad feel uncomfortable but he wanted to make sure he was hearing everything correctly. "Usually when packs take another wolf it is not for good. You leaving was probably your best interest." He spoke in reply to his story, and fell silent as the wolf continued. Narrowing his light blue eyes he tilted his head at the multi-hued wolf. He felt suspicious now, not sure if this wolf had good intention or not. Ears flicking at his name, Altair took a seat his heavy haunches brushing against the cold snow. "Promises hmm? What promises would that be? And to who?" He said eyeing the brute silently as he spoke. "Agavos will not take liars, so if you lie to me, it will not end well for you." He said his voice a bit gruff. It wasn't as if he intended to be mean, but he didn't like when wolves spoke of promises that were made with others. It usually meant bad things. A cold wind buffeted past them, making his whole body shiver for a few moments. He took a moment to shake out his fur and fluff it up against the cold and impending wind. This time of year did hardly any good for his kind. It made wolves feel starved and alone. Winter was not a kind fae, often brisk and deadly. He knew the other wolf was not doing so well in the cold, another aspect that Altair took in. If he can't survive winter, what good would he be? Everyone deserves a chance. He thought to himself, keeping his eyes on Spencer.
