Baritos

His eyes shine | 'With glimmering sanity' | "Hiding the creature behind."

Eyes closed and inhaling, the brute relished in the fresh air that flooded his lungs. Now this was the cleanliness that he deserved. Unlike that foul odour he had to experience while among wolves who were boring, this was the aroma fit for someone of his calibre. Just cleanliness and not nose-clogging filth. Inhaling deeply once more just for good measure, a sudden spike of a scent caused alluring silver eyes to make themselves known as his mind registered the owner of that smell. Oh. Oh. His dark maw widening into an unsettling broad smile, a giggle bubbled in his throat before it began wracking shivers through his body as he tried to contain it. Digging his claws into the dirt beneath, a single manic cackle erupted from his mouth before he immediately snuffed it. Ooh, he really shouldn't let go like that. Lightly scolding himself for his lack of control, he managed to lower the sound of his giggles to mere pitched hums that varied in dynamic degrees. He was so dreadfully pleased with the fortunate location he had found himself in. Not only was it clean, but it belonged to someone oh-so-dear to him. His mind purred, 'Big brother Teren. It seems we'll meet again.'

Releasing one final hum of a giggle, he moved further into what he believed with the territory. His pace was steady and of a moderate speed; his old bones weren't as lively as they used to be, but he was still a fit old man. Standing in the dim light of the trees, he tilted his head to the sky and let out a ringing howl. That should give enough indication that he was here to torment have some fun with his sibling. 'Oh, what fun we'll have.'
ooc: Short, but gets it done.

L y o n i t u s . . .
Step after step the brute was still adjusting to the now snow-free terrain. The constant cold crunch that sounded under his paws was no longer there. Instead the tips of new grass tickled and itched his paws, it was rather annoying. Letting out a low snort he almost wanting to lift his paw up and lick it. To relief the itch he now felt. He always hated the first week or two of spring. Such a quick vibrant change that consisted of too many things for his won comfort. Some liked it, loved it even. But not him, never him. He liked the bareness of winter, the challenge it provided. Spring was almost to easy, with new prey coming along and everything. There wasn't as much as a challenge like there had been in the previous months. And once again, the Elite would return bored. He needed something to entertain him, but that hadn't come along yet. Or so he thought.

A howl rang through the air, sounding familiar to his old ears. It made him perk up in a way he never had before, almost as if his attention was now on overdrive. Hmmm, I'm intrigued but borders are such a pain. Sighing to himself he softly said to no one in particular, "Don't worry guys, I got this one." Jogging a few paces forward he transitioned into a lope; quick yet graceful. But he had not realized how far he was from the borders, and the steady pace showed that. Damn it, why did I have to come take this one? Stupid, Lyonitus. Slowing down to a walk he caught his breath and steadied it before he made an appearance in the role he was meant to perform. However, he didn't feel like completely getting into character today, perhaps it was the elder blues? He sure hoped not, he might be getting old, but he wasn't a decade yet. He still had some stride and spring left in his step. Coming forward through the trees his eyes closed as he began to speak as he tried to adjust to the new unshaded lighting. "You stand at the borders of Erenyx led by the fearsome Alpha Teren, loner. What to you want and make it quick because I don't-" His eyes opened and his words fell out of his lips silently. Before him stood a brute about his size, pelt black as night, and eyes a grey color. It was his brother, his partner in crime. And as soon as this realization struck him a huge grin spread across his jaws. No, way! You're still alive!? His tail wagged with new found energy, excited to see his closest companion from his own youth. "I knew that howl sounded familiar. So, how's life been Bar? Any conquests you wanna tell me about?" Winking playfully at his last question, he calmly sat down and gestured for his brother to enter the territory. Teren wouldn't care. After all, he let Reaper and himself in. Having another member of the family should be a good thing. He wasn't sure what ranking Teren would give him in the future, and it wasn't his place to decide whether or not he would be some sort of high rank. So, the younger male would become an elder, or at least for the time being. He would still go through with the whole "swear your loyalty unto my alpha or I will have your head" thing. Just cause of the rules and all.

Baritos

His eyes shine | 'With glimmering sanity' | "Hiding the creature behind."

Humming a soft tune to himself, Baritos entertained himself by prancing around, leaping in random directions. He looked childish, but he hardly cared about appearances, knowing that his looks and personality did more than enough to make it up. A giggle. Swiping his paw against the dirt, he sent a dust cloud flying, messing the ground beneath him. He continued, pulling the new sprouts of spring, occasionally dislodging a few of them. Waiting, waiting, more waiting. His brow furrowed just the slightest as he thought to himself, 'If no one is coming, there's no point in staying.' He abhorred being delayed and if someone didn't appear soon, he might as well leave.

Counting to five, he accentuated the countdown with a pop of his lips. "One." 'Pop.' "Two." 'Pop.' "Three." 'Pop.' "Fo-." He stopped abruptly as a figure made itself known in the shadows of the trees. Sighing, Baritos tilted his head, trying to make out who it was. And to his immense delight, it was a face he missed dearly. 'Well now, if it isn't Lyo-bear.' Keeping silent as Lyonitus began what Baritos believed to be his generic welcome, the hilarity of the situation was already causing cracks within his expression. Eyes alight with glee, his body shook with barely contained laughs. Oh, if Lyo-bear could see himself. 'Open your eyes.' The fearsome Alpha Teren. A high-pitched chortle escaped him and right after, his brother finally recognised him.

Smiling coyly as Lyonitus expressed his joy at seeing him, Baritos raised his eyebrows for a split second in a teasing manner. Eyes taking on a kicked puppy look, he pouting, while complaining petulantly, "You thought me dead? That's so mean of you, Lyo-bear." He maintained his pitiful expression for another few seconds before his lips curled into his signature manic smile. "Wonderful to see you again, dear brother." He paused for a few seconds before deciding to answer his brother's queries. As he began recounting, his smile died into an unimpressed scowl, "You know me, Lyo. It's hard to find anything worth remembering these days. Life's been boring as far as I'm concerned." A smirk garnished his handsome face at the inquiry of his 'conquests', tilting his head, he continued, "My my, well, there were a few eager ones who were particularly taken with me," he muffled a giggle at the thought, "but they weren't anything to get your tail wound over."

When gestured to enter the territory, his expression became that pleasantly suave character once more and he stood beside Lyonitus. "So, how is our darling fearsome older brother? Have you been keeping him on his toes?"

L y o n i t u s . . .
Oh the charming, soothing, yet insane laugh that filled his ears when he laid eyes on his brother. It really had been too long without him. He hadn;t realized how much he actually missed the brute, until he now saw him again. It was strange almost, how he could try and be so closed off and cruel. But at the sight of his slightly younger sibling he turned into a goofball. His tail was wagging, something it had rarely done since he became an adult. His voice was loud, but not obnoxiously so. He felt young again, like a pup meeting the other litters for the first time. He almost wanted to bow down and wrestle, but that would be innapropriate. So instead he just settled for the wide grin and, obviously, uplifted attitude he now displayed. His vocals coming off as playful and excited. The two of them were bad news to everyone else. And they could become quite the handful for Teren if they so wished. "Not my fault you decided not to search for me, Bar. I mean, for all I know you could have died from exhaustion with your... very physical activities," he wiggled his eyebrows at that. A small chuckle coming forth from his jaws. It was no secret that out of the two males, the darker one got all of the loving from the females. He put himself out there that way. Lyonitus was more centered off towards those things. He just picked them up, dropped them off, and waited around till Teren wanted another order. Twas the sad life of the bi-orbed male.

And as the lone wolf, soon to have a home, would talk about his past, Lyonitus could only laugh. "Life is boring. And quite frankly, I've been bored out of my mind since I can't do anything here." He rolled his eyes, a low sigh escaping his jaws. "Hopefully you can be a change in that routine. After all, you are my wing-man/partner in crime, Bar-Bar the Bachelor." He gestured for him to enter, no formalities needing to be said for letting him take a rest inside family borders. Now they stood by each others' sides, where they should always be. Like a superhero who is closely bonded to another superhero, they worked together to solve crimes. Or in their case, create and commit them. In reply to Baritos' question about the wellfare of Teren, Lyonitus responded with one word. His tone absolutely serious and flat, "Sated."

He let no words out for a few seconds before he cracked a smile and laughed. "I'm being completely serious. He had two females, maybe three this winter. One of them is a large vix that he captured in our war with another pack here. A feisty one she is. The Delta is another, but she shocked me. She doesn't seem to have the hots for old Ter-bear.As for keeping him on his toes: not really. I've been quite the good boy over here, and it's killing me." Lowering his head he gently rubbed his temple with the side of his paw, like he had some sort of headache. "As for him being fearsome, I don't even know. I haven't seem him do much other than the war, which wasn't even waged by him. But this pack as a reputation for being scary and evil, so. Gotta scare the new-comers that might come along. Obviously, I haven't met many borders."

The demon you were warned about

Upon hearing a call from his borders, Teren knew the voice well. The last of his own family had come to his lands. Perfection. All of his brothers would be reunited. As Teren began to think about how he was going to treat his young brother, he smirked. He could be friendly, as he was with his favorite brother, or he could be ruthless like he had been with strangers. He was unsure about how he was going to act. But as he approached the border, he heard two voices. The first was Baritos, but the second was Lyonitus. A deep set snarl rippled from his maw, it rattled within his throat and his eyes peered forward with hate. When any of his brother came to Erenyx, it was his job to allow them entrance. Nobody else would be able to give them a rank, nobody else would know exactly what he wanted. Teren was furious that Lyonitus thought he was special enough to take on such a task. He stood in the shadows, watching the foolish wolf act like a pup. This was no way for a an Elite to behave, whether it was with their brother or not. He listened to the words the Elite spoke. He spoke about the faes, the weakness which was Teren, and a few other things. He focused his mind on the "fact" that Teren had done nothing spectacular. Emerging from the protection of the treeline and the shade, he stood before them. At first he looked down to Lyonitus, and moved to stand slightly to the side of him. "I killed the Alphess of Helidos, I captured a wolf who wished to avenge the Alphess.. I have done plenty of things that would be in your nightmares, and yet, you do not see them. Sorry I do not allow you to follow me everywhere I go, Lyonitus and I no longer think that I will be having you in such a rank. In honor of our coming birthday, you shall be released from your Elite duties. Now leave, so that I may speak to Baritos on my own accord, without assistance." Teren turned his head and glared to Lyonitus. He was highly aggravated with the wolf and expected him to speak more highly of his own brother, the one who had given him so much for so little in return.

Once Lyonitus was no longer in their company, he turned his head back to Baritos. It was apparent that he was still angered by the interaction. "So tell me, Baritos... What brings you to my lands? Where have you been after all these years?"

MOOD: Pissed
Lyonitus & Baritos
442
NOTES: Lyonitus, you can change your rank to Elder

Also, Baritos PLEASE do not change his eye color. It is supposed to be a smoldering grey color, just like their mother's.

Baritos

His eyes shine | 'With glimmering sanity' | "Hiding the creature behind."

Baritos' grin never dimmed as his brother told him his reasoning for assuming his death. There was no way he could deny that he did indeed, maintain a 'healthy exercise' routine while away. At his age, his health had become extremely important to him and thus he maintained a system where he would hold sessions with willing females. His tail began to wag with anticipation as the idea of becoming a two-wolf team of destruction with Lyonitus thrummed within his mind. 'Yessss, Lyo-bear.' His eyes flashed excitedly as he pranced beside his brother. "Of course."

When Lyonitus gave his response to Teren's well-being, a body-wracking cackle erupted from his maw, echoing in the silence. Sated? Ohh, Teren was never sated. He barely managed to hear the following words, raising a brow at Teren's deeds so far. It seemed that his elder brother's hunger for power was unsatiable, ironically put. Cocking his head to the side, he purred, "It seems we'll be getting another batch of nephews and nieces." and while uttering underneath his breath, almost completely masked from Lyonitus' ears, "And hopefully these ones don't run away." Finishing, he smiled wryly as he waited for the next part of his 'initiation'.

It wasn't long; a few minutes actually, when another figure suddenly entered his peripheral vision and he abruptly cut off whatever he was going to say. His breathing became sharper as his concentration peaked. Teren. Keeping his posture firm, he made no notion of submission, although he spared a bow, far too gracious than he would have liked, towards his elder brother. Teren then proceeded to justify himself, meaning that he heard almost every word Lyonitus had said. His jaw muscles clenched at the demotion, fighting back an ugly scowl. As Lyonitus was dismissed, he whispered, "I'm sorry." revealing the little compassion he had left and directing most, if not all of it towards the only brother he cared about.

And now, he was alone with someone that, he detested to admit, could hold his life in his paws. It was common knowledge that Baritos wouldn't live in a one-on-one fight with Teren and he certainly wanted to avoid such a situation. After all, there was just so much catching up to do. Hiding his discomfort behind his sardonic smirk, he exhaled before swiftly replying, "Fate herself, brother--Alpha Teren." The other male's title was a sour taste within his mouth but he swallowed it along with his pride, hoping to appease the brimming anger within his brother's green eyes. "I was out in the great big boring world, living out my adult life comfortably. Mind you, though not particularly enjoyably. There's not a lot out there worth looking at, much less to experience." 'Not like when we were all together oh-so-long ago, when you were my source of entertainment.' He huffed a laugh, before continuing nonchalantly, "In all honesty, I wasn't expecting you of all wolves to be here. So, it was a complete coincidence that I found myself where all of my brothers would be."

The dark male paused, his expression placid and eyes not really gazing anywhere. Did he really want to be here? Would this place be the same as the pack he had left? Would he risk it? 'Lyo-bear's here. Remember that. Remember just how fun you could have.' Well, that certainly was a plus. Thinking of the guaranteed foolery he would have with Lyonitus was enough to have a smile curl upon his lips. It was settled, he would stay here...until there was nothing left for him to reap and fill his basket of desire. "So, are you willing to unite us all once more?"

L y o n i t u s . . .
The other was excited it seemed, to his proposal of causing mischief. However, the two would behave enough. They wouldn't do anything illegal to the pack laws, but they would cause a bit disruption if they could. A slow grin took over his jaws as his brother pranced next to him, seemingly excited for their future days. The two would talk, asking basic questions and such. And then, one simple word from the Elite would cause a howl-full of laughter to erupt from the darker male's chest. And as the brown brute continued to talk and explain, the laughter didn't cease. Not until the other had something to say. And even then it was a purr, an amusement filled tone. Nieces and nephews? There would be a few, no doubt about that. Lyonitus could only wonder what would become of them. But then a soft voice from Baritos, almost silent, drifted into his ears. He could only pick up fragments of the phrase, but he got the point of it. Nodding slightly all he would murmur in return was, "I don't which would be best for them: being here or not. Suppose we'll just have to wait and see."

And then, in the next few minutes where the two once more just simply talked and shared. But then, the almighty brute himself started to walk in. His stance was angry as was his tone, but Lyonitus wasn't afraid of him. He didn't think he would really ever be truly afraid. Sure he had power of the Elite, but there wasn't much he could really do to him. Kill him, well he could. But in reality, death was only a few steps away. Wether he died now or later wasn't a big deal to him. And with a voice so threatening, stating all of the things that he had done while Lyonitus was around. In return all he did was look at his brother with a blank expression. And when he was done, he demoted the two-colored-eyed brute. So back down to Elder he went. Well, not like I did much anyways as an Elite. Or was one for very long. Shaking his head he stood. Placing his tail over Baritos' shoulder in reply. It was a sign more many things between them. Over the years the two had developed a sort of communication through different gestures. This one, in the situation, was a way to say "Don't worry about it" or "It's not your fault." And then the way that he let it fall of as he walked away was simply, "Come find me once you can." He left silently, up until he was about to vanish into the trees. His voice was calm, though definitely had a tad of a bite to it. "And killing the Alphess of Helidos, who wasn't half your size, in a war, that you did not wage, is so fearsome. I fought that bitch you mated with Teren, if it weren't for me letting her go you wouldn't even have her. Other fearsome acts? Getting pups to kill each other? You going to pull that plan again? I didn't say you were weak, just that I haven't seen you do much. I don't need to follow you everywhere. Nor at all. You have members planning against you Teren, whispers going around. Hatred is filling everyone slowly. You want to keep your fearsome act? Do something, and do something fast. Don't blame me to telling my brother and best friend simply my own opinions." And with that, and a flick of his tail he left. Walking as almost he wanted him to come and give some sort of punishment. But he knew if there was any, it wouldn't be now.

only the strong are worthy to live

305 Words
Baritos
Teren ignored Lyonitus. He acted as if he was all big and bad, tough and trying to make things look like Teren had done little for his pack. If it wasn't for him, they would not be here. If it was not for the things he had done, their pack would not be known as victors. He watched the body language between them both, never really noticing before the strong connection those two shared. He didn't care. Reaper was the favorite. The others could very well perish and die, he would not care. Once Lyonitus was gone, he looked to the only brother before him. "That depends." Teren did not care to correct things before the other, nor to explain himself. He was the Alpha. Yes, wolves hated him. Good. The more they hated him, the more he would be a well-known name among the lands. Hatred gave life to fear. He knew the Helidos wolves feared him. Why should they not? He knew the Pyrvanthros pitiful leaders hated him. Teren himself did not fear anyone could take his life. If he did die, he was ready. He had lived a long and solid life, good and full of wonderful conquests. "But first, I need to know what your thoughts are of me and what you will do for my pack. I can't allow any worthless souls to be wandering around and taking our food if they are not going to give much assistance. Surely, you can understand that." He was still angry, the stance he held showed it, and his voice held its deep tone. He kept any snarls and growls away from the other, locking them deep within his chest. Every time he stared into those dull silver eyes, he saw his mother. The silver reminded him of another. He would find him.

Baritos

His eyes shine | 'With glimmering sanity' | "Hiding the creature behind."

Baritos' expression was one of disappointment as Lyonitus left, but he chuffed once in their secret code, masking it as a cough. "Affirmative." was the most accurate interpretation, although other translations such as "Of course." and "You're okay." were also acceptable in the right occasions. As he was left alone with his formidable older brother, Baritos' expression did not change, however he allowed his muscles to loosen in order to maintain a marginally more pleasant expression. A wry smile appearing, he stared at his brother without a hint of fear within his eyes. They were of blood and it would have been shameful for him to be any less than equal to him. He would acknowledge that he was younger, but it didn't make him any less lower than Teren. Not that the said male would ever allow him to make such a claim. And thus, such thoughts had best stayed unsaid, lest he wished to die an early death.

What did he think of Teren? And what could he offer? 'You're an insufferable damned brute whose regrettable fortune has laid ruin to those around you. But your failures give me great entertainment, so there's a smidgen of respect for you.' If only he could say that. Raising his eyebrows, his lips continued to curl upwards in an almost condescending smile as he pondered his words carefully. It would be a lie to say that there wasn't any pressure upon him but he would make it through. Keeping his tone steady and calm, he began uttering his half-truth, "You are my blood brother, the sole leader of our kin. It is only natural that I have respect for you, especially after everything we, you, have gone through. As for your pack, I can only offer my loyalty, as your younger brother. I do not know what sort of wolves reside here, but knowing myself, they surely cannot be that interesting, considering you seem to be rather displeased with them, even after a war." That was entirely the truth, the younger brute had no intention of making friends, he was here purely for the sake of his brothers, despite not caring for the rest, save one. "I'm a jack of all trades, surely, I'll be of use to you."
