| WE'RE VICTIMS OF OURSELVES tag: --- // words: --- // notes: First post with Thadd so it may be a bit jumbled. How they chided him for leaving the territories, pathetic. His father was alpha and cared only for himself, his mother was dead and had long since lost all sense in her last days. Then there was the result of these two wolves. Himself and his siblings, he was young but that didn't make him stupid. Not at all. He heard the whispers, took note of the suspicious looks. Offspring of the 'demon' and the captive. Fear would linger in some eyes and hatred would spark in others while some would simply gaze with uncertain suspicions. It wasn't the looks one would expect when they were the alpha's young, you'd expect respect and awe...not this disgust. His ears would flick as he lifted his long snout to sniff at the air. His small dark body scrambled up onto a group of rocks located beside the large body of water and an emerald gaze that seemed much too mature for the body they resided in would scan the area curiously. There was not much here to be of interest to him but he was alone and for now that was simply enough. The news of his mother had left him feeling uneasy for lack of a better word. He wasn't exactly upset...sad maybe for her sake but not upset over the loss. She hadn't been much of a mother really and Thaddeus hadn't really participated in much 'family fun'. The word family....he'd gathered that it was a very strong word. Family was one of the strongest bonds supposedly and if you really thought about it he supposed it made slight sense. You were bounded by blood, the very thing running through your veins that kept you alive was connected to that of a few select others. Family stood up for each other no matter what, some said the promises made to your family would even override the promises made to your alpha. Yet that was missing from his life, he refused to even call those he was related to, family. His father had been quick to disown him and his sister, him for being known as the 'runt' and his sister for her gender. He'd been quick to figure out the truth behind why his mother had given birth to him and had seen the haunted looks she'd occasionally shoot in their direction as she gazed at the ones she was supposed to love yet also had the blood of the one she loathed running through their veins. Then she died and that put an end to that. Now a group of his siblings were gone, not that he cared all too much. He blamed his parents for their lack of ability to show what it was meant to be a family but he felt nothing special towards the pups he was related to. In fact he preferred to be away from them as all they did was remind him of the poor excuse of their existence.
He preferred it when he was alone, when his own actions made him who he was. Not the actions of those who came before him. Sometimes he fantasized about simply leaving and making his own life away from the mess he'd been brought into but he was intelligent enough to know that he did not have the skills to look after himself and he did not know enough about the other packs to simply wander into one. For now he would lie in wait, silent and attentive as he gathered enough information to decide what he would do. Thaddeus had always been filled with a strange sense of maturity from a young age, he'd never been into the daring recklessness that seemed to be a trait amongst most pups. When he was in the Neutral's it was not to cause trouble and get up to no good, he merely wanted to be alone and find new things to study. He was a collected brute for such an age and rarely would one hear much leave his mouth. He would simply prefer to fade into the background and only speak if it was necessary for he hated socializing oh so much. If there was one thing that confused him no matter how intelligent he was, it was emotions and social skills. He rarely felt too afraid, death was an interesting factor to him that he had yet to fully understand but he doubted even the adults really understood it but they did fear it and he didn't feel that...But there was emotions and they left him confused and anxious. Anxious...that was another emotion and he didnt like it but he had no control over it and that frustrated him. He used to watch his siblings bouncing around the adults asking endless questions yet he preferred to figure out the answers himself, observe the smallest things until it all clicked together and made perfect sense. This is what gave him the knowledge of the mess of his pack and family , this observing that most weren't even aware he was doing. That was another thing he'd noticed, others presumed pups were dumb he supposed, naive and idiotic. He hated nothing more than when adults tried to scold him and explain the real answer. He would dare say he knew more than them!
He remained seated on the warm rock, it was evening and the sun was only just beginning to sink. It was the most beautiful time of day and he watched as the sky broke into several different magnificent colours that danced across the lake and reflected in his emerald gaze. He was content here, it wasn't his first time visiting this spot and he spent most of his time here, alone and as content as one in his situation could be.
