Yawn slipping from parted jowls, the she-wolf stirred. An ear flicked, a paw stretched out tentatively, and then a golden eye cracked open. Her gaze blurred with sleep, she rolled over with a huff, ears flattening against the insistent chirping above. More and more, however, the female found herself waking from her slumber. The compact dirt beneath her side felt impossibly uncomfortable, and an itch formed at the base of her tail. Spring tinted light cast a hazy shadow upon the den's far wall, warmth seeping into her nose where a beam had caught the bridge. Musty smells of dirt and mold, characteristic of abandoned dens, met her nose. Growing ever louder, the birds chattered endlessly, loud and vocal with their trilling. Reluctantly, the earthy she-wolf shifted onto her stomach, lazily looking about the decrepit den filled with holes. By some grace of the heavens, rain had not fallen during the night. If it had... oh, she shuddered to think of the ordeal.

Somnolence made her indolent, a sudden unwillingness to travel puttering about her bones. Some small voice nagged her to leave the less than adequate shelter, yet she didn't rise. Mornings had long been spent cycling through a routine of exhausting travel, sparse hunting, then scrounging for nighttime accommodations. However, an element had changed this very dawn. Her journey, arduous as it had been, would soon face its end. Following paths and trails, she had caught the vague scent of a pack within the distance. Indecision had bridled her pace ever since that moment, paws uneasily padding toward the pack border. Now a short distance from that very pack's realm, it seemed as though the decision had been made for her. Pack life would begin anew for her again it would seem... but Xette was apprehensive. Life within the pack of her birth had been comfortable and warm, an atmosphere surely to be lacking with an assembly where she was but a stranger. However, her paws had also been but an unneeded addition. No praise had befallen her ears, no affections from others, no recognition in any sense. The she-wolf didn't request much attention, but she would not stand to be utterly ignored. By leaving those lands, so did she demand a brighter future. But to achieve that future, so would she have to venture to the border.

Heaving a faint sigh, Xette shimmied out of the den, ears twitching as spidery roots trailed across her fur. Progress slow and methodical, she took her time weaving about the trees and over the uneven ground. Balance pristine and steps concise, she was but as elegant as a passing doe. Of course, she was heading toward the predators against her better judgment. A life alone had become too bothersome to continue leading, but pack life could extend to the extremes of either condition. Asking for their acceptance was gambling with the unknown, a habit one should avoid...

Sniffing the air, the female paused upon the border, chest swelling as she took in the strong aroma. Unease pooled in her stomach, tightening the muscles along her shoulders. Please let them be kind... Tipping her head back, the plain female howled a short, inquiring song.

{ A little rushed, sorry. >.>"}

The Delta was making her rounds, per usual, when an unfamiliar scent crossed her path. Losing the scent of the vermin she was tracking, she gave up on her efforts, and began to seek out the rogue that was near by. The white female's gait was slowed, as her belly was heavy from the inside, but not as to appear from the outside. Aurora would continue to do her duties in the pack, so long as it didn't bring her or her unborn pups any harm, and so long as she kept her distance. Aurora's speed would benefit her should she need to flee, but that would be dangerous on the newcomer for the pack would be on the heels in an attempt to seek justice. Although, anyone seeking entry to Helidos, was not of danger. Certainly not in Aurora's eyes, this was a haven. At least it was for her.

Aurora came up over the bend and noticed the young wolf just outside of the border, and with a slow speed she approached the oncoming wolf. Aurora staying far into the Helidos territory, giving her the advantage. She knew these lands. "Greeting weary traveller, I am Aurora, Delta of these lands. You have come to the Helidos pack, under the rule of the great Alpha Azul. How may I assist you?" The giant white wolf sat down upon her haunches, finding it hard to find comfort in her position, she awaited a reply from the seeking wolf. Aurora quickly looked the wolf over, the features showed that there was potential for her to grow. Aurora loved females, for she was one, and she knew how most were. With a gentle smile, Aurora envisioned having a girl of her own.

A growing silence heightened her unease. Situated between a multitude of possibilities, the unassuming she-wolf found herself faced with overwhelming indecisiveness. Cowardly and wheedling, a small voice inside of her urged for retreat within the safety of the thinned free lands. Little danger rested there, save for the ever present threat of passing rogues, as well as predators and injury. In all honesty, her skin crawled with the prospect of another night spent without protection. While not one to show emotion of any particular fire, her slumber lately fell between awkward and anxious. Through the gloomy maw of each decrepit den she crawled into for the night could come a badger, a fox, a bear scavenging... oh, how it perturbed her so. Yet, while this pack could offer refuge, so could she feel death licking upon her heels. Packs, with their constructed hierarchy and terraced authority, one found pressure to be an ever present factor upon her shoulders.

Suddenly standing alert, the thin female turned her head as another wolf approached. Of relative build and gentle grace, the snowy white stranger drew into sight, then paused a safe distance from the border. The subtlest of cautions held the pack wolf back, though no unfriendliness oozed from her. On the contrary, a companionable air flowed toward Xette, one that sought a civil meeting. Tension easing slightly, the earthy wolf lowered her tail further, lowering her stance in a characteristic show of submission. Eyes downcast to avert any pretense of challenge, the loner digested the other's words. "I seek admittance into these lands..." Trailing off, Xette found herself groping for words. "If you would have me."

Aurora could sense fear upon the stranger, but couldn't pinpoint why or where the fear was directed too. "Your soft spoken, and you seem to question yourself of whether or not you should be allowed here. You seem to be running from a past you no longer wish to be a part of. We would love to have you, but how am I to accept someone at our borders when I know nothing of you, why you come, and even a name. So let's start there. What is your name child? What are you good at? And, do you swear an oath to this pack? Only then will you have the safety I know you're seeking." Aurora wasn't rude or harsh about it, with females she was much gentler than any other, and she could see the depression upon the young female.

"There is no need to fear any longer, I am here to help." Aurora then stood up, stretching her front legs briefly before returning to a full upright position, her tail slightly curled to show her dominance. Each toes dug into the hard ground, still thawing after the harsh winter, but soon... yes, soon, all would be warm inside and outside of Aurora's heart. Thinking quickly about how this new wolf would provide numbers, she began to think of shortages of food, and wondered if she was better at hunting than fighting. Aurora studied the girl quickly and then waited for a response from the quiet female.
