The burning of the sun heated the morning sky, waves crashing down on everything the light touched to warm up the earth making life among the mammals seem still. Spring was over, the light green grass and love filled season washing away quickly over night to become the beginning of a bitter, cold period that would soon transition into snow and frost when winter cane around. Autumn was the name, and it covered the land brightly. It was a beautiful time, where the largest of trees shed their leaves and old roots to make room for better and healthier ones when the warmer seasons came back.

An interesting occurrence indeed, that intrigued some like the male himself on how it all occurred. The breaking of snapping twigs and the crunching of multi-colored leaves that had already been disposed of from the plants to rot away, the heat coming from above was irking the male faintly as his large paws were repeatedly pressing down on the covered terrain in motion. To avoid such nuisances would be inevitable as everyday he would have to go through such things unless the fall lived up to its name and the weather got colder. Chest heaving as his lungs expanded and compressed to release a heavy sigh in surrender, Veteux continued his travel to find what he was looking for. It wasn't anything distinctive but he was looking for a territory, claimed already by wolves so he could join among their ranks and live the rest of his days in security.

Heading back to where he came from was not an option for going back meant death or severe punishment if he happened to survive deaths knocking door. The choice just wasn't there for the large male and he wouldn't risk his new found freedom away from Tanus. Muzzle parting slightly, Veteux released his pink hued tongue from his mouth, turning it upwards to lick his dried black nose, before letting it hang in an effort to cool down. While being large and fluffy fur had its perks, it also came with some disadvantages, one being that the male could over heat quickly than others. It wasn't something he couldn't handle but laying in the cool shade wasn't so much of a crime either.

Rearing up onto his hind paws, Veteux placed his fore onto the fallen, dead log that had been in his path, claws scrapping the cracked bark as he pushed down to lift up his hind legs to get up and over with ease. Trekking further, the males nose caught scent of a wolf: multiple ones actually as they had all been along the same spot at one point or another. Leaning his neck down to press his nose against the soil, Veteux took in the aroma's, calculating and determining if the scents has been recent.

"A pack.." he muttered, lifting his head to return it to its original position. The border was just a step away, and if he had ignored the scents and continued, Veteux would have found himself trespassing. Lowering his haunches to the ground, the male just sat in thought until he made his decision on what to do. Lifting his muzzle up towards the sky, Veteux bellowed his call, a deep, strong song coming from his vocals as he howled out to whomever was near inside the pack lands. Stopping abruptly after a minute or so, Veteux patiently waited to be greeted.

She'd barely made it through most of the territory when yet another howl called her. She turned immediately, lengthening her stride into a run. She transitioned easily from the open fields of wildflowers into the shadows of the trees. Grass gave way to dirt and leaf-litter, flowers gave way to trees, small stones gave way to larger boulders. A flaming trail spring up behind her as she ran. The leaves of the season set the forest ablaze. When the light of the sun hit the trees at sunset they were lit with an almost inner fire. She'd nicknamed these homelands of hers the Burning Forest when autumn came around. In winter the Burning Forest would become the Frozen Forest, when orange leaves gave way to blankets of snow and dangerous icicles.

It was warm already this morning, the last of summer reluctant to relinquish its hold on the earth. It was still warm enough for a trip to the cove. The salty air would do her some good and the water would cleanse her coat. Maybe later. The new wolf was near, she knew, though his call had long since faded. It was a good guess where he originated from. The Elite found the new scent wafting towards her on the breeze once she reached the border. The male was a dark grey with a lighter ash underside. He was a heavyset brute, certainly with some strength behind his blows if he was any sort of fighter. His eyes were quite similar to her own, albeit with a little tinge of green in them. She wondered whether he intended to be a Warrior, he looked to have the strength for it. "Ho there traveller! Mind telling me your name and business here?" She smiled a little, enough to show she meant no harm so long as he didn't.

Piercing orbs watching the forest for any sign of life, the faint rustle of something against the leaves and bushes of the woodland floor was enough to catch the males attention. The ears above his head twitched forward, pressing themselves to reach higher so he could calculate where the noise was coming from and the possible section where it would come out of. Not even a few seconds went by until another wolf stepped out - a female to be exact. With eyes a similar color like himself, the fae was covered with a mix of brown and whites, hints of black and grey throughout her coat. A small frame she held, though Veteux could only compare it to the muscular figure he had. For now all he knew was she could be the largest wolf in the pack and from all the time the male spent with Tanus it was that he learned to never size up opponents based on looks.

Already seated, Veteux slid his fore paws forward across the terrain with a slight grunt, lowering himself steadily into a laying position until he could roll over and expose part of his stomach. Banner tucked between both hind legs, the male focused his eyes anywhere but into the faes own orbs completing the proper submission that was required when one was presented with a pack wolf at a border. It was usually others who had to submit before Veteux, not the other way around but because he was now a rogue, the male had to follow custom even if it was tiring with his heavy build. So far it had been a long day for him and the male was ready to continue on his new journey with new wolves to call family - if he got accepted that is. Auds rotating to catch the voice of the stranger, Veteux was a bit satisfied and pleased to hear such a friendly greeting, it meant he had stumbled upon the a pack he had been looking for that was different from the murderous ways he grew up knowing. "My name is Veteux, and like others I come here to seek acceptance" Voice deep and humble, the male would answer the females question, curious to know if he would now learn of her name.

She was tired. Despite the kindly smile on her face she was exhausted from all of these border patrols. If she was lucky, winter would mean a decrease in travellers. She supposed it made sense this time of year, everyone was trying to find somewhere safe for the harsher season to come. She needed to go home and sleep for a long time. Hopefully, if she was lucky, with Drogo by her side as protector. It would be nice to rest, enveloped in his warmth, surrounded by his strong scent. To close her eyes and truly relax in safety would be a blessing. She'd been alone for so long, always watching, always on guard. So long it had been since she'd woken refreshed from her nights sleep. The Elite blinked, showing no evidence of feeling any of this. All the other wolf would see was a genuine smile of friendly demeanour.

A name was what she sought and a name was what she received. Veteux. "Veteux, tell me a little of your past, your pack. Why did you leave? What were your duties there?" She lowered her rump to the forest floor, tail sweeping away the debris. It rested limply behind her, angled off to the right. The breeze tried to stir it, fluff it, make it sway with its natural verve but with no success. Apart from striking up a few hairs her tail stayed in place. Turquoise eyes watched the male, her peripherals manning the surrounding forest. There would be no sneaking up on them. Her ears perked forward, eager to listen. To all she appeared regal and powerful, but to her own mind she was soft and lame, overworked. Soon. We will have our rest soon enough.
