The place of the lonely and broken Empty

The sound of birds chirping and brooks babbling along with those other sounds may have healed many, but it would not touch Tsube. He shook his head as he lie still, his entire body making not even the most subtle motion to give away his position. It didn't matter really if others knew of his location, but he didn't want to be noted by anyone who would be bad for him. Besides, he had crept a bit close to the pack land nearby; he knew nothing of the packs at a personal level, but he had been taught many times, over and over again by various means, that he should steer clear without any reason to be nearby.

His golden eyes shone in the slivers of sunlight that fell in between the leaves that bounded off them, bringing them to an even clearer and, slightly, more luminous tone that made them almost seem like reincarnates of the Halloween moon. He licked his raven fur and yawned; he had grown tired from his bounding in a nearby mudhole. Why did I have to do that? he asked himself. I now have to deal with this nastiness.

He perked his ears up and listened; he heard rustling nearby. He raised his head to look about, but he thought better of it. If there truly was someone to be weary of, which he didn't doubt, then it wouldn't be wise to comprimise himself. The fur on his neck and back stood on end; he bared his teeth in a position ready to strike; he growled very softly before he constrained it into his throat.

He waited patiently for something to happen, but nothing did as quickly as he hoped; to him, from the adrenaline perhaps, very little time had elapsed since he situated himself there. In reality, quite a few moments had passed. He stood up and ran behind some thick brush to hide himself. He felt as if nothing could find him; of course, it was his inner pup speaking. Not that he was really hardly anything other than that, but he felt it. If someone approached him, he would be certain to take him or her on.

Greeting wolves at the border was new to him. Normally the other wolves of the pack would take care of it. Mostly Azul and Steele, with the occasional Warrior stepping up to help the brutes. Kenai was not expecting to accept a wolf into the pack, for he was only interested in seeing if their lands had been extended yet. Azul had been talking about a new land he was thinking of bringing into their territory. This intrigued the brute and forced his curious side to grow wild with intrigue. Slowly he counted his steps as he reached the border. Nothing new, just the same old ones he had walked before. Slowly he moved to turn about, heading back to his den. Ears already primed for listening, quickly caught a hint that he was not alone. His tail slowly curled over his spine, while he gained a defensive stance. He knew with the change of the seasons the large predators would be out to play. The next moves the brute would take, would have to be very careful.

His onyx nose sniffed the air for scents, some kind of indicator that could identify the creature. It was not a bear. Again, he sniffed. It was not a cougar or a puma. His eyes scanned until he saw portions of a creature that looked like a wolf. His nose confirmed what his eyes saw. "Come out where I can see you," he said quietly enough for the other to hear him. "I am not going to harm you. I just wish to speak with you."

A sense of shock filled him, making the fur stand as if it was nothing more than quills similar to that of the porcupine. His nose rose into the air and he sniffed. Confimation. He stepped out, head lowered threateningly. He then, recalling the words--through some manner he had temporarily shoved the spoken message aside--raised himself and lowered the pricks of hair on his back and neck. He nodded his head, but more so as a sense of calmness and assuredness to himself.

He didn't dare to speak for a long while. At last, he brought words to his tongue. "No harm meant?" he scoffed. "I have heard such a line before. But, for the way in which you present yourself, I shall believe you." He paused, pondering over something. "Then, if you are here for nothing of that sort, violent or truly confirming of an issue, why have you come here? You bear scent of someone standing in their own place far from here, amongst others." His eyes shone with a sort of foreign determination.

Kenai was truly confused. This wolf came to the border, to the edge of Azul's land. Yet, he asks the Elite what he was doing here. "You have neared the border to the lands of my Alpha. I am Elite Kenai and I mean you no harm, but if you plan to act ill-fully then I will have no choice but to strike you down. I have sworn myself to this pack and I will do anything to keep them from harm." Kenai lowered his defensive stance, getting a soft dominant one. He was not afraid of the other, but he did prefer to speak instead of fight. It was the way of the land, the laws set before the wolves by their "king". "What brings you to these lands? Do you seek refuge?" He stared at the male, watching the brute closely. He found the other looked very close to a brute he very much disliked. His midnight coat almost matched that of the Beta's and his eyes, close to compare. Only, the Elite disliked the Beta and not this newcomer.
