| Moonlight bathed the lands in silver, the large shining disk looking up at Caspian from the water's depths. His two large paws had long since gone numb from their position hanging limply into the running river, the dark waters pulling hopefully at the tips of his dark fur longing to drag him away forever. Sighing he pulled away and shook each paw in turn before pushing himself into a standing position. Despite not waiting to admit it, he was exhausted and had to get some sleep to let himself return to full strength but he just couldn't manage to. His den was too stuffy and after being in it for any length of time he felt the need to get away and be out in the open air, and then he was too much on alert and just waiting for danger to get any sort of sleep. Frustrated he lashed out at a rock with his paw and scooped it into the air viciously, watching as it then was lost in the dark waters with a loud plop. Damn his age, yes he was healthy and strong for the amount of years he'd roamed this earth but he bet if he was younger he would manage to go on even longer without sleep…but in the end there was nothing you could do but actually give in to sleep, or end up passing out somewhere.
Grunting he turned in a full circle before sighing and trotting over to a large tree, many shrubs growing around its roots and offering good shelter. The male flopped down in the lush grass and surveyed the area once more distrustfully, it was unlikely many would roam further than their territories at this time but you never knew who would decide to go on a lovely night stroll. His silver gaze traveled up to the midnight sky, at least it was a clear night. Made it easier to detect others. He kept his gaze fixed upwards for a few moments, watching the stars stretching across the dark sky, shining magnificently. How he loved night, it was so much more impressive than the simpleness of day. Sighing he finally lay his head on his paws and shut his eyes, allowing himself to drift into a fitful doze, but ears were still perked and his sleep was light enough to awaken and be prepared if someone decided to pay him an unexpected visit.

| The afterhours of an elite’s duties were usually spent productively, if the elite was worth anything. After all, the best fighter in the pack had to live up to that title. Aging was, for Fel, yet another obstacle that she worked hard to overcome for this purpose. Proper stretching was performed each morning to keep her joints and muscles loose, and cardio was always a priority. In fact, that was why she was here on this evening. As an older fae, Fel had to keep her stamina in check with evening runs. It was for her own benefit, even if she hated distance. Pushing boulders and lifting objects was also a common workout for her, similar to the one she put Heaven through. Fel huffed at the memory of her former apprentice. Such an innocent soul had fallen into her paws. It was rather tragic that she came upon Erenyx. Perhaps Fel should have quietly hinted that she needed to go elsewhere, but she did not… That was her own fault, and she had no one but herself to blame. Was it her second true mistake? Perhaps, or perhaps not. Maybe it was better off for Heaven to have left this earth. She did not belong in its cruel reality; she was too pure for it.
Panting, she slowed down to a trot for a cool-down at the end of her run. Taking a rhythmic series of breaths, it took only a few minutes to slow her heart to a normal rate and shut her jaws. Continuing down her little pathway, she picked up the stench of an Erenyx wolf upwind. Perhaps it was Teren, and she could get her chance to rid the lands of his rule once and for all… Or perhaps, and more likely so, it was just someone else. Even so, maybe she could make the enemy numbers smaller by one wolf tonight. It would be all too easy to dispose of their body here anyway, and no one would ever know. On carefully placed, silent paws she moved towards the origin of the scent. After a while of stalking towards the victim, she saw the dark ears erect upon the mostly shrouded figure at the base of the tree, his large form partly hidden by shrubbery. But as much as the resemblance was there even under the light of the moon, it was not Teren. Walking closer, calmly now, she identified it as Caspian, the delta to her knowledge. She could have gone in for an attack, but didn’t feel like it. If it had been someone worthwhile, or perhaps a healer that was just too easy to pluck off, she would have. Instead, perhaps he remembered her. Perhaps, being Teren’s brother, he would want to attack the ‘deserter,’ though Fel doubted he would. Regardless, her bulky form stood rigidly a few meters away from him when she stopped, prepared for anything but holding herself in a fairly neutral stance. “Sleep well, Caspian?” |

| Little sleep managed to reach the large male and he twitched his tail from side to side restlessly, eyelids fluttering. They were instantly opened, revealing bright silver orbs as a cool breeze ruffled his fur, bringing with it the scent of another- from the newer pack of these lands it appeared. Grunting he would push himself up into a sitting position, muscles stiff and protestant. It was only a matter of moments before the wolf came into sight and Caspian tensed, prepared to spring into action if needed. However the dark form made no move to attack and Caspian relaxed only slightly, still ready to move if any aggression was shown. A calculating gaze ran over the wolf standing before him, very large for her gender, pelt as dark as the sky above them and piercing blue eyes. Also Agavos and seemed to be holding a high enough rank there too due to her posture, however he was uncertain on what exact rank it was. Not an alpha no, more than a lead though...possibly a beta? delta? elite? Hard to tell. Was that slight recognition in her gaze? Frowning he payed her closer attention, had he seen her around before? A lot of wolves had transferred from both Helidos and Erenyx to Agavos, maybe an old member or Erenyx? Definitely the most likely guess, it would make sense him not exactly remembering her back as he had not gotten to know many of this pack at all.
He finally pushed himself onto all fours and padded slowly from his little shelter before stopping, only a small distance between the two now. His stance was neutral, tail only slightly raised and ears perked atop his head, however beneath his thick pelt his muscles were still slightly tensed and he was completely alert for any trickery. When she spoke she stated his name and he had to admit he was slightly surprised, so she did know who he was. News must have gotten around that Teren's brother had joined Erenyx, or maybe if she had been a part of Erenyx she'd just known him as her Delta. Either way it was not important and Caspian merely eyed her for a few moments before speaking slowly, choosing his words carefully. She looked like a good fighter, if he had been correct in assuming she had left Erenyx to join Agavos it could mean she disliked certain members of this pack, including Teren...But he had to be careful, he could not risk being discovered by his brother. "No not really, I seem to get interrupted an awful lot." He muttered, his piercing steely gaze still fixed boldly on her icy one. After a few moments of silence he spoke again.
"Apologies but I cannot quite remember who you are, I do not believe we have ever met in person? Please do not take it personally I don't tend to get to know who is what rank of what pack that well...siding Teren for obvious reasons I sometimes find it hard to even remember who's the current alpha's.." The corner of his maw twitched slightly, the hint of a smirk? It was hard to tell and was gone in seconds leaving only a completely neutral and almost impossible to read expression. Still no names managed to match with the wolf's face and after a while he simply gave up and waited for her to tell him instead.

| Fel held her stance firmly, muscles still tense and ready for any tricks. Her tail, however, hung boredly behind her. There was no need to express dominance or rank, even though she had, throughout the duration of her stay in Erenyx, always outranked him. But now they were of separate packs, and one’s rank would mean nothing to the other. Here they were simply wolves, approximately evenly matched on size and strength. That was their measurement. She did not care much that he approached her in the way that he did, nor that they locked gazes. Hey cold, mirror-like eyes of ice would not stray for a moment away from his, but she was mindful of any sudden movements in her side vision. His orbs were piercing and bold, but hers were too. “Do a better job at hiding next time,” she said with a venomous pleasance to her words.
It was evident that the brute was not too used to remembering names. But he was right on one thing, they had never really spoken to one another. The smirk, or whatever hint of it was given, came and went unnoticed. “It is quite alright. I am Fel, and my most recent rank in Erenyx was Elite female. As far as I recall, you had the position of Delta male, correct? As you can tell by my scent, I left to follow a better leader in Agavos, keeping my title as elite for now. As for your troubles with alphas, may I remind you? Quinn and Fenris lead Helidos, Desmond is the ruler of Agavos, and Teren, as you know, is the idiot king of your pack.” The fae remained ready for possible aggression after the insult to Caspian’s brother, but held her visible appearance of being neutral. She was a good fighter, as was he… But there was something strange about him. Fel wanted to find out what it was while she had the chance, but she would go about it cautiously, poking and prodding in the needed direction.

| He found pleasure in the way their gazes clashed, both as bold and piercing as the other. They were both still tense yet neutral in the way they held themselves but he knew that this could easily change if one showed even the slightest hint of aggression. Part of him itched for a fight- wanted to feel the adrenaline come alive within him however he could already tell that despite being a fae the midnight pelted wolf seemed like a worthy opponent and he did not fancy risking his life or getting seriously injured. No, he had more important things to get about doing and being crippled or dead would definitely not work out. He was strong too though and there was a chance she would wind up dead, but they seemed quite evenly matched and it would be a risk filled with chance for the two of them. This time he openly smirked at her words, lips pulling back to reveal the tips of long curved yellowed fangs. "Don't worry hiding was not my intention, I doubted many would have much reason to kill me unless they were stupid enough to think killing me would somehow help kill my brother...then I guess a lot would. Anyway if hiding is my plan I shall heed your words." His tail flicked across the lush grass, feeling it tickle at his pads. He pushed his paw forward along the grass to rid it of the tickling sensation, flattening the green strands however not letting his gaze leave hers. It reminded him of Banshee, this locking gaze thing seemed like some sort of game. One he didn't mind playing over and over.
Fel, Elite.. His mind remained blank at her words but he shrugged to himself, even now he was not sure on who was the current Elite of this pack if there even was one, nor did he care. So he was correct in assuming she was of Agavos now, and still held the position of Elite. The fact her rank was higher than his did not phase him nor did he show any respect at this new knowledge. Here in the neutral lands the only thing that mattered between the two was skill alone and they both seemed quite evenly matched however it was not easy to tell unless they did fight it out. A fight didn't seem to be what either intended on starting though and Caspian's muscles loosened only slightly, still prepared to spring into action if needed. "Yes you are right, I am Erenyx's Delta male." He blinked, still smiling as she continued to remind him of who currently led what pack, although he cared little for their names unless they could somehow help him with his goal which was unlikely unless they wanted further drama between their packs and for some reason most leaders preferred their packs to live in peace. Teren being an exception.
His grin broadened at her words of Teren being an idiot but he did not show any of the aggression she seemed to be prepared for. But he was not ready to trust just yet and did not show any pleasure at her words either, he simply remained neutral, chuckling slowly. "My brother, an idiot eh? And what makes you say that?" He tilted his head to the side slightly, eyes glittering cunningly as she watched him. This fae seemed interesting and he supposed giving up some of his time to get to know more about her wouldn't hurt.

| ((I could apologize for the long wait and the shit post, or I could tell you that you should just be glad I'm up this late for you. But I've just done both, so I won't do either. Enjoy.)) Much unlike him, Fel did not smirk as their conversation continued. Then again, she rarely showed facial expressions unless they served a particular purpose in communication. In this instance, verbal interaction was sufficient for her. Their eyes remained in their fierce but passive battle, her icy pools reflecting everything given to her with an unnerving ease. “Oh if that were the case, I would too. In fact, had you been the brother of Quinn per say, and I would gladly attempt to kill you. But I highly doubt Teren gives a rat’s ass about any wolf aside from himself.” The Agavos elite proved to be correct in remembering his title, which was pleasing to hear. Fel sometimes worried that her memory might dull with her old age, but it did not seem that the time had come yet. Not noticing that the other had relaxed, if only slightly, the fae kept her muscles tense and pulsing with a rhythm that she normally kept. The grin of the brute was slightly surprising, but it did not throw her suspicions just yet. “A leader who rules in chaos is not a valuable leader. My father was more of a demon than Teren was, but he held my utter respect for the duration of my stay. Ruthless, murderous, but always with a reason behind each and every one of his actions. It was all a strategic game. Teren acts like a fool. He killed the alpha, but not the heir. He promoted a loser, but demoted a winner. He first left a disobedient high ranking wolf with a scar, and then demoted them much later on when they were fairly pacified…” She stared at him curiously, “You must tell me, Caspian, for I do not have any siblings that made it past their first day and would not know. Is it not annoying to live and serve by the rule of your own brother? You, like I, appear to come from a bloodline of large, strong fighters. I could never imagine serving a litter mate, nor one serving under me.” Abnormally long tail swaying limply along the top of the grass, she wondered if she would have even been the one next in line had her littermates been born with thicker hides. -The next post starts the count- |

| Any sleepiness had been chased away and his silver eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight. The female before him remained as unreadable as ever but Caspian did not mind all that much since at the current moment there was nothing he wanted to know that she could not tell him. Much unlike the dark fae, a smirk remained placed on his features- the tips of yellowed fangs visible. He shrugged at her words, a single movement of his large shoulders as he watched her intently. "In the past I might have disagreed with such words...now I do not." He stated simply, smirk gone and expression suddenly serious and reserved. His tongue was running over the tips of his fangs thoughtfully, tail swishing back and forth. He was a wolf of movement- never seeming to be completely still no matter how relaxed he may appear. "You do know he cared once...but emotions are much too easily damaged and destroyed and I guess it happened to him, oh well." He blinked and padded over to the calm waters, leaning down to lap at the refreshing liquid, not worried about how easy it would be for the Agavos wolf to push him right under- if she had intended on killing him he would not be here to take that drink right now, she'd gotten her opportunity already and she had not bothered to take it.
After the refreshing waters had slid down his throat, he plunged his muzzle in before flicking it upwards, feeling the chilling liquid drop over his head and ears before pulling back. His pink tongue ran itself around his muzzle to lick away the droplets that were threatening to drip from his muzzle to his chest. Turning back, Caspian smiled and stepped back to where he had originally been and leaned back on his haunches. "Apologies ma'am, quite good water that is." He murmured, small smile gracing his features before it was once again gone, hidden back behind the mask of the devil. She began to explain what exactly she meant by finding the ruler of the darkened lands of Erenyx, a complete idiot. He did bother attempting to hide any curiosity from his gaze as he found no point, he could hide emotions if it was needed but did not when it was something as simple as mere curiosity. He smiled at her words, head tilted slightly. "Well well, I would hate to be one who actually believed in the brute's actions and have to try and come up with something to make any of that sound like it had proper reason behind it. But maybe, just maybe, somewhere in that maze of a twisted mind..maybe Teren has his own little reasons behind each thing he does...." He blinked, steely gaze filled with mock innocence as he was fully aware that the first part of what he had just spoken showed he did not care much for the brute. He'd trust her with that much for the time being.
As she continued, his eyes glittered. "We were not all as bad as we seem to be now when we were younger, Teren was the largest...the most dominant. It just seemed to make the most sense that he would take over and for a while I didn't mind. I was happy to sit back and let him rule as long as he gave me some respect as his brother and at the start it worked out fine...but things change. And wolves change with them." His smile had returned but seemed to hold a dark hint to it as his eyes glittered menacingly. He underestimates me, the silly wolf just seems to presume that I still am happy for him to treat me like dirt despite the many many years it has been since I was a foolish yearling..I have led a pack since then and am ready to once again once I take out the trash." He smiled and sat, allowing her a small amount of time to process the words he had just spoken. He no longer cared if she was to be trusted or not, he suspected there was truth in her words and was willing to take the risk. Anyway, it was out now...should Teren find out then he'd just need to get things done a bit earlier than expected. "And what about you, Fel? You seem to hate the alpha's of both Erenyx and Helidos, usually it's one or the other. Any personal problems with Teren or do you just hate the way he leads things? And you seem to have a particular hatred towards that alphess of Helidos, I will not deny that I am interested. It's your turn for a little speaking Fel." He smiled, tail swishing over to curl itself neatly over ashen paws and watched her intently. Curious to see if she would give anything away willingly, he was not in the mood to have to play any guessing games so hopefully she was in a mood to cooperate, it would help a lot..

| (It's fine. Mine is rushed too.)
Fel chuckled hoarsely without emotion. “Did the old bastard have his heart crushed? He claims females to be weak, but only females can change him… How pathetic.” She waited patiently for him to take his drink and return. There was no rush, as she had nowhere to be tonight. Both of her apprentices were off for the night, since Newt had been assigned an extra border shift and Narla was nursing training wounds. Her own duties were handled. There was nothing else for her to do but explore the lands and try to find an old enemy. When he returned, she replied flatly, “Oh no worries at all. I’d join you, but I prefer my water as cold as my heart.” Caspian went on after listening with an openly curious expression. He implied more than he actually said. Fel would have been a fool not to catch on early and perhaps an idiot not to realize towards the end. Finally, she smirked – a purposeful, calculated twist of her lips. “I would offer my help, but I do not know if you would want to include another in your plans. Let me know if you do. If not, at least tell me when you are successful. We could have a celebratory dinner for two. We have moose meat in Agavos. Fit for a bloody king.” The sarcasm stung in her voice, but she was also being truthful.
With a small huff, she replied to her companion, “With Teren, it was simple. I will still believe he has no reason in his thick skull. He promoted a loser whose body had been beaten and torn, but demoted the fae who won the spar with only a scratch. As for Quinn, she exiled me for obliging a dying wolf’s last wish. The fae was bleeding out and asked for me, her Guardian, to end her painful suffering. I was exiled for nothing more than Quinn pitying an elder’s emotions, and with me, she lost her best and only trained Guardian.” She eyed him, still holding his gaze relentlessly since his return. “And what has Teren done to you that is so terrible?” Fel wondered about this horrible treatment the brute was receiving, unsure of what it was. The raven fae remained in her usually tense stance, not drifting from it for a moment. Her tail kept swinging idly, keeping the time. |
