Hunter Sieglinde

A pretty face. = 'Hides her deadly nature.' = "Do not tempt her with danger."
Tired green eyes stared blankly out at the Pasture that she knew so well, unblinking and lacklustre. The field had always seemed so beautiful to her and she never missed an opportunity to visit. She had always enjoyed the soft wind that came down from above, ruffling her fur but now the breeze also served in keeping away the warmth. As her gaze roved over the valley, she found that its allure was no longer there and it hit her hard. Breathing in shakily, it didn't take long for her to figure out why she could hardly bear looking at the Pasture. This was where it all began. The start of everything.

Grief seeping into emerald, she recalled the first time she had ever spoken to Altair. It was with Breeze, Erabus and Newt; she'd been a mere newcomer back then, but she was treated all the same. It hadn't been love at first sight, but because the first meeting was so brief, it might as well as have been for her feelings had bloomed by the second and third time. They'd searched for dens together. Her den was his by right since he'd had found it first and given it to her. Had it been large enough, she would have gladly refused him. Lowering her gaze, her heart clenched as she thought of actually sharing a den. He had been the one, the only one she would have liked to spend her life with; had he loved her. Now she would never know. There would be no one to tell and no one to listen.

Whispering to no one, she allowed the wind to carry away the next words she spoke, "I thought we would last forever, even if I would never hear you say, 'I love you.' But I guess I was wrong. I didn't hear you say that, I didn't even hear you say goodbye. But I suppose it's my turn to say something now, since there's just one player left." Lips wobbling in barely contained anguish, she sank to her knees, hitting the ground softly. Her voice wet and crackling, she lamented, "Altair, meine liebe, I'm sorry that I have all of this to say when you cannot respond. You made me smile when no one else could and I was happy to be someone you cared for. I'm sorry I never found the courage to tell you that I love you; that I was too fearful of your rejection. A sob pushed its way out of her lungs, causing her to lean forward, ears folding back in misery. "I do not regret meeting you for a single second. My only remorse is that I wasn't able to speak to you for one final time before you left. But you can hear me now, can't you?" She tilted her head to stare up at the sky, eyes flitting searchingly. "All I can do now, is hope that you are happy. One day, I will find the heart to let you go, but for now, let me carry on loving you for just a little while longer."

Breathing in through her mouth, she let her head rest upon her front limbs. She had said so much and yet there was still something heavy upon her chest, crushing down. Squeezing her eyes shut, she curled her tail around her. 'I'm so tired...'
ooc: I am not very good at sadness, because this is the first time I have ever roleplayed angst.

i'll see you in the future when we're older
and we are full of stories to be told, cross my heart and i hope to die, i'll see you then with that fragile smile and those beautiful eyes.

Where there was once fine happiness and delight, sorrow and misery was waiting to follow into the spotlight, stalking it's subject from the shadows and sitting patiently till the perfect moment to strike. He inhaled the grief that spilled off her exhausted form, however could only exhale pure silence in return as he too sat from afar, pondering the time which he would be most comfortable in joining her. With gleaming cobalt eyes, the adolescent male watched closely to her confession, taking it in as if it were his own, and later overthinking the situation to relate to one he could recall being apart of. But, he couldn't, as much as he wished, the male knew he had not experienced heartbreak. The closest he had come to intimate love was with his best friend, and even then, it was only playful and innocent - nothing which this female could come into connection with, nor he. The wolf felt a bit of uselessness during this time as he allowed himself to remain patient and quiet while the other continued to mourn. He thought once to leave her be, having been his original intention was to take a stroll, only to have been stopped to the sounds of sadness. Yes, Altair had made a lasting effect on all of them, perhaps, but Striker was never bound to such things as death to be seen as a terrible thing. He had lost many people, he was not prepared to let it get in his way of a future, nor could he after experiencing it before he finally lost all of it in one day. The only force holding him back from giving in was the image of his mother, live and well, back home, he hoped, living her life knowing he was gone, but will return to her. His ears pierced against his head at the sheer thought running through her head to be his death, as well as his brother's and the sudden disappearance to his father's whereabouts. The young male looked away from the scene for a split second before returning back to the Hunter, slowly rising to all fours with the courage to expose himself and near her side for a strong shoulder to weep into.

As she rested, his eyes became captivated by her appearance, though looks could be just as deceiving. Even when beaten and broken to the very core due to grief, she still managed to be one of the most beautiful things that which surrounded him. He allowed her to lay there while he sat, comfortable in his own bubble of silence as he had quietly made himself at home next to her. Unsure whether to speak first or not at all, Striker cleared his throat and changed his line of vision on the pasture rather the figure whom he accompanied himself with.  "My mother used to sing a lullaby to my siblings and I when we'd be upset...," His sapphire gaze softened as he overlooked the tall grasses and smoothed on a ghostly smile, only to peak quickly down at her to see if she had opened her eyes, "..would you like to hear it?" Raising a single brow, Striker kept his composure simple and poise, but was lingering the option upon her own freewill. If anything, he'd simply leave her be, but when most vulnerable, it's best to be with company, guarded and protected at any cost. After all, that was his duty now.

Hunter Sieglinde

A pretty face. = 'Hides her deadly nature.' = "Do not tempt her with danger."
With only the sound of her shuddering breath to comfort her, Sieglinde's eyes flickered, her head feeling light. She could not sleep now, not with so many thoughts plaguing her mind. Opening her eyes once more, she gazed into nothing but green grass. If she had tears to shed, they would have long dried and there would only be single drops left to fall from her lashes. But even then, her emeralds glistened with something bright and something sombre. Tilting her head to glance at the mockingly blue sky, she thought of Altair's own eyes. They had been so blue. And she would never see them again. 'The daily lives that we once knew will disappear.' Sweeping from above, a strong wind carved its chill into her skin, but no shiver came from her body. Looking ahead, her eyes found the place where she'd first met him. The memory was as clear as day; she could see where they all stood, his smile when she tumbled into him. 'That's why, my love, I will burn this final image of ours as an everlasting sear in my memory. When morning comes, I will continue on and I will not cry out your name. Because I know I will never recover if I do.' That was her resolution. As much as it tore at her heart, she had to let go; it was the only path she would take. However, that did not mean that her feelings had changed. If she would go the rest of her life loving no other, then so be it.

Inhaling shakily, the ache in her chest had yet to disappear and she could tell that she was on the verge of breaking once more. Being given the news was one thing, but letting go was another. It took a great deal of energy to even admit that and she knew that it would take her much longer than just a few words for her to truly leave him behind. 'Oh, Sieglinde... You will and you must.' Lowering her head to stare at the small blossoms that grew around her. She mused that they were so fortunate. So small, so beautiful and not a care in the world. One day, they will die, but there would be no one to mourn them, because they would come back in the spring, just as beautiful.

Spring. She'd hoped to be carrying a litter by then, if her confession had gone well. But it would seem that that dream would be put on hold for now. Sighing, she wondered what her goal in life would be now. It was in those thoughts when she heard the clearing of a throat. Startled, her head whipped around to see Striker sitting much closer than she'd expected. Had he heard everything? Her heart stuttered, did he know everything then? Slowly pushing herself to a sitting position, she turned to face him with a face as calm as she could maintain.

Forcing a serene smile, she inclined her head in a silent 'hello', while listening to what he had to say. She was momentarily stunned as he offered to sing a lullaby to her. Expression softening even further, something affectionate swept through her eyes. He was a sweet boy, he was also quite skilled if she remembered their training session together with Desoto. As she looked closely at him, she suddenly realised how much he had grown. He'd been a young Apprentice when they'd first met and now he'd been given a rank in Agavos. Briefly forgetting about her anguish, a small aura of happiness surrounded her at the thought that he'd risen and matured. Still peering curiously at his face, she noticed that he'd grown into a handsome youth; he was strong and his eyes were blue, like... 'No, you mustn't. You cannot go around seeing him in everyone.' Stopping herself halfway through shaking her head, she gave him a fond smile, while clearing away her cracked voice. Softly replying, she said, "If you are comfortable with it, I would love to."
ooc: much sad music was marathoned while writing this.

i'll see you in the future when we're older
and we are full of stories to be told, cross my heart and i hope to die, i'll see you then with that fragile smile and those beautiful eyes.

He couldn't bare the feel the pain seeping around his chest as he watched her fake a smile to his own presence. It hurt to see such a beautiful creature stress themselves to appear happy rather than express their true emotions. He couldn't particularly argue with the matter, there were times where he'd thought to be emotionless, but was dying on the inside. Striker put on a solid exterior as he returned the notion before allowing the air between them to grow thin as she would listen to his proposition to sing to her a heartfelt lullaby to soothe her state of mind. If she were to deny the idea, he would simply remind himself to never offer it again, only in times such as these to someone he knew personally would he perhaps sing, but the young brute was slowly realizing the type of reputation he wanted to convey. Singing silly songs would certainly be held against him if others knew, especially his mentor. She seemed distraught as she observed him much closer, his insides stilling and the skin beneath his fur almost on fire from within, but he remained as still as possible before she shook her attention away. Quickly looking away, he found relief in eyeing the flowered pastures and breaking into a genuine smile as she would accept. With a friendly nod, the dark ashen wolf exhaled and inhaled deeply, recalling the words and melody which his mother would voice into his brothers' and his ears while their eyes would slowly shut at night. The memory felt so far away, but everything began to start running back and refresh his perspective, "Wandering.. child of the earth.. Do you know.. just... how much you're worth? ...You have walked this path since your birth..  You were destined.. for more."  Much unlike his mother's voice and how she sang, his voice was dark and raspy, ranging far more than his mother's soothing angelic tone. The ability to sing it so clearly was a challenge all on his own as his eyes fell to shut and the rest began to take him back home, "There are those who'll tell you you're wrong... They will try.. to.. silence your song. But right here...is where you belong...  So don't search.. anymore.." The adolescent rascal voiced against the quiet, warm breeze that rolled in and whispered subtly into his ears.

Louder, let her hear you, don't let me fade away... The voice said at the back of his head. Yes, mother, he could hear his younger self reply, little emotion behind it, and not as sincere as he would've said it as today.

"You.. are.. the dawn of a new day that's waking..  A masterpiece still in the making..  The blue in an ocean of grey.. You.. are.. right where you need to be.. poised to.. inspire and to succeed..  You'll look back and you'll realize one day.." Striker peered a bit closer to her as he sang loud enough for her and him to be able to hear, but soft enough to consider it soothing as a lullaby should sound. Without his mother's aid at his side and memories in his favour, as he would fall asleep soon after through a few lines, he grew hazy of recollection to what remained, slowing down by only the lack of remembrance, "In your eyes there is doubt.. As you try.. to.. figure it out.. But that's not.. what.. life is about.. So have faith.. there's a way..." as he had begun to trail, the point between his shoulders began to stiffen and his chin slowly lowered to her level in a bit of unsure shyness, "I.. apologize.. it's been so long.. I don't remember the rest.." These were one of the fewest moments he could ever consider apart of his awkward phase, having matured quite well, but not quite in some areas. Perhaps it were the heat, he thought stubbornly, reaching up with his leg to scratch his ear out of nervous habit.
