[[Ha, I love the 'if allowed by the Caretakers' bit, xD]]

This place is absolutely perfect, was the thought which kept replaying through Genevieve's thoughts. And it was the absolutely truth too, yes it was quite bare but the spot was secluded yet easily and conveniently visible from the pack clearing. Her mind was already mapping out the space with the coordinates and the material she would need. Ideas of ways to keep the pups secure in any weather conditions and still making it comfortable for them rushed around for Genevieve's calculations. The den would not just be for the pups but for her and she had many good tips from the older male Caretaker that she had worked under. Genevieve was so caught up in her thoughts she hardly paid attention to Alpha Azul. It was not until she had everything decided and charted mentally that she turned and spoke to him, a smile playing upon her face.

"The site is lovely, Alpha Azul, I thank you wholeheartedly. Well, perhaps..." Genevieve shook her head, mostly to herself, decided against it, she never wished to be a burden and he was the Alpha, he had things to do for sure, "Never mind! I can most certainly managed it, thank you again dear Azul. I'll be getting to work now..." Oh my, Genevieve was completely unsure of where to start, when she looked down at her small cream paws she could picture them laughing hysterically at her, asking 'Can you really do this?'. 'Of course I can!' Genevieve imagined herself reply and finally decided to follow her first instinct. Dig.

((Of course. If there is an wolf the Caretakers do not trust around the pups, they have the say so if they are allowed in the area.))

Azul lead the way to the designated Caretaker den. He smiled as he listened to her words. He was glad she was happy with the place. It was not much, but that left it open for however she would want it. He nodded as she thanked him, smiling as he watched her. He sat behind, watching her. It was intriguing to watch her work and think about how everything was going to be. He enjoyed the simple things of the pack, watching to live together, work amongst one another, and everything else pack mates would do. He decided he would watch for a while and then go find something else to do. He hoped more wolves would come to the border.

[[I know, I know silly XD Just funny ^^]]

She dug for Lord only knows how long and she considered her progress satisfactory when she stopped to take it all in. Her paws ached but it was the pain of success. The common den structure was finished with square feet almost triple the amount of a normal den. The space would be highly appreciated with the many children inside with her. Now she would need to acquire numerous objects such as stones, twigs, etc. Genevieve wondered where she would get these tools. Eventually the cream fae decided the pack's territories was the most obvious and efficient nature store for it held all the products she needed.

Standing farther away Genevieve gave a satisfied nod to her handywork and looked over to Alpha Azul, "I'm going to scour the lands for my necessaries, Alpha. I thank you kindly for my new home and know it will be a much better family than my last, not including my sister of course," She bowed her in respect and awaited permission for her to depart.

Azul watched her work, wondering how something so small could build something so great. He did not take for granted faes' abilities, not in the slightest, but in all his years of growing up in a healthy pack, he never saw such form and agility while making a sound place for pups to live. In his old pack, things were a little different than how Azul ran his, but they were ideas he had crafted from his own mind. He watched what he calls "Warriors" do way more than hunting and fighting for the pack. The Betas of his old pack had so much more on their shoulders as well. He hoped that his separations of ranks would allow the pack to run much more smoothly. He looked to the fae and nodded his head, "do as you must Genevieve. Be safe. Call if you need anything. I'm sure someone would be willing to assist you." As he finished his statement, he slowly stood to his feet, and turned away from her. He was headed back on his patrol, hoping more wolves would wander into his border.

It was getting later in the day and the long walk from the swamp had left the female tired and still sore. Buried deep in her maw lay six quills of a porcupine that were red, angry and hurting. Behind her was the straggling Warrior Odin who had attempted to help her, but to no avail. Frustrated she found her way to the newly made caretaker den. It was freshly dug and scents told her wolves were nearby, the scent of her Alpha even hung loosely over the dirt. Stopping at the entrance she peered inside and called a soft "Hello?" Her maw ached horribly and she hoped a caretaker was here to help her. Never before her such a thing happened to the proud female. She was always careful and thought things through, but this was a first. More embarrassed than anything she hated for the Alpha or Steele to see her like this, really anyone aside from a caretaker.

PostSubject: Re: Caretaker Den - Main Story Caretaker Den - Main Story Icon_minitimeJanuary 23rd 2013, 02:15

The last river-rounded rock was placed upon a sturdy pile to the corner of the Caretaker's den ever so delicately, not wanting to hurt the perfect set-up. Genevieve had finally acquired the rocks she needed to complete her den and give it a better structure and couldn't help but back up and marvel at her work. A faint stepping caught her attention however and soon Genevieve was hunting a miniscule mouse who had left their save haven for just a brief moment, easily caught in the young fae's paws. On her way back to the den, the Caretaker caught a new scent was slightly caught off guard until she was sure they were of her pack. What were wolves doing here? It seemed foolish to question them but she had no pups and no one was expecting, the only one who would want to see may be Alpha Azul to oversee her progress but other than that no other reason came to mind

Two wolves stood before her den, one slightly inside to see if anyone inhabited the large area. "My!" Genevieve dropped the mouse at her feet as her jaw gaped at the scene before her. "Are t-t-t-hose quills?!" Geneviev immediately rushed to the female's side, recognizing her to be of the crowd she left at the river earlier that day, and examined from every view possible. "Heavens, what happened to you!" Glancing around her to see a male who had no visible injuries, Genevieve had little interest in him at the moment and simply gave an acknowledging nod. Literally pushing the fae into her den, Genevieve lead her to a spot the sun streamed in and made it easy to see her. "What a pain these must be, I haven't collected herbs yet...not that I know too find them. I've been informed Caretaker Creek is more of a healer than I, I only know the basics, if she were here I can honestly say you would be in much better care. Let me help you with what I have though."

Genevieve took a fair amount of herbs and their healing qualities however in her old caretaker's den, under the older male from her previous pack, they were provided and she hardly gave them much look. Now she wished she had studied them to a further extent along with where they grew. But even if she had two herbs available which may help this fae, that wasn't the main issue. "What we have to do is pull them out. This will be extremely painful and I cannot think of any herb able to dull pain while the quill is inside, that and it won't do you much good anyway for if I try to put herbs around them it will only cause unneeded pain. Remove then herbs, that makes more sense. I can pull them out with my teeth in a smooth yank," Genevieve turned to the male, "I will need you to hold her down for the process, no matter her cries do not let go." Genevieve let out a heavy sigh and sat before the female, "What do you think?" She wouldn't pull the quills out unless she had the female's full cooperation and allowance, this would be majorly painful and Genevieve believed she was in a lot of pain already.

ooc-SInce Odin won't be on for a while I'll jump in front of him

bic-Hearing the gasp from inside the dark fae peered into the large den. Inside was a smaller female with pale fur that seemed agast at the state of herself. Trying to force a small grin Chiara gritted her teeth from the pain. "Hello I'm Warrior Chiara, and yes these are quills." Not wanting to restate her clumsiness the warrior walked in after the caretaker and lay down where she pointed. Her next words amde her a bit uneasy as the caretaker seemed to doubt her own abilities. Growing nervous Chiara looked back to see if Odin had followed her in, but she couldn't see him. Letting out a relieved sigh her yellow eyes gazed over the interior of the den. It was quite large and would serve the pack well for housing pups and for the healers. Her old pack had a healer den, but she didn't remember much about it.

Hearing the caretaker's words Chiara lay very still and gazed up at the female. "I don't fear pain, for getting these out will take away what pain is here. I won't move an inch." She said softly and closed her eyes to ready herself for the quills to be pulle dout.

[[I'm going to powerplay him a tiny bit, haha, I'll edit it later to how he sees fit~]]

The caretaker let a deep breath fill her lungs until she finally exhaled it back into the freezing winter air. Chiara was in a great deal of pain and Genevieve wanted to ease it as soon as possible. Luckily the she-wolf was wise and knew that once the quills were out they wouldn't be as much as a bother, the pain of removing would be fast and stinging but Genevieve knew this tough warrior could handle it. "Please secure her," Genevieve commanded Odin gently, giving Chiara a reassuring grin."I, myself, would pin you down if you made you feel more comfortable but from such an angle, it would be more painful for the quills to be taken out. So, for now, let Odin assist us." Genevieve liked to tell her patients what she was going to do and why she was doing so, she felt it was necessary they knew the treatment they were receiving. Personally, it helped Genevieve as a yearling when someone told her. When her previous mentor, the caretaker of her last pack, began to cure her beaten body, he too had verbally described everything he was doing.

"I will pull each quill out in one swift movement. You may cry out as loud as you wish, it may help relieve the pain. Do not feel embarrassed or cowardly, it's probably best to cry a little. Do not fear of being tormented either, if any wolf laughs at you for your howling, I will personally swipe their tongue from their muzzle." The beginning had been a mild tone but the ending was direly serious. Genevieve did not find humor in taunting those in pain, not in the slightest. "When I pull each other I will put two herbs on to help, one to speed healing and prevent infection while the other to calm your electrified nerves."

Genevieve let Odin pin Chiara to the den floor, making sure he had her pinned for dear life. One brute came to mind from her assistant days. The caretaker was removing a huge thorn from a warrior's paw, actually three to be exact. The warrior was a tough male who was overly confident and continuously cursing himself for heading into the bush. When the elder wolf tried to remove them he had squealed louder than a pup and fled the den, only embedding them deeper. Genevieve would not let this event happen here. "Ready?" Genevieve positioned her mouth around the first quill, teeth biting hard. "One...two..." her voice mumbled from her occupied mouth...yank! Genevieve wasted no time and went to the next one, repeating the action, over and over again. One, two, three, four...the amount went on.

Chiara took in the caretaker's words, noting her instructions and allowed the male to pin her down. Struggling under his weight she found a comfortable position and closed her eyes to Genevieve. Bracing herself for the rush of pain she winced slightly as the female wrapped her teeth around a large quill. Just as she about to nod her head the female jerked backwards and Chiara's eyes shot open. Gone were her words about not being afraid to let go of wails, for she didn't care about embarrassment now. A scream of agony shot out f her maw and she fought herself not to throw Odin off of her. Not waiting the caretaker pulled again and again at the quills, each time more painful than the last.

Her eyes were clouding over now and tears fell from her yellow eyes. Her body shock from pure agony and sh could feel the soft trickle of blood run down her maw. Now there was only one more left in her face, the largest. It was jammed right into her nose and was quite large. Letting out a sigh and prepared herself for the pain that may send her over the edge.

Genevieve's ears lay flat against her head as if she were cowering from an angry Alpha as each howl rang through the den and out into the forest. Bird flocks clearly cried out to warn other in the forest as they were alarmed from the cries. Genevieve took a brief moment of pause as the last quill tauntingly stood, gleaming from fresh blood from around. Genevieve took a deep breath and angled her jaw so as she grasped the quill. In a quick jolt, Genevieve gave Chiara the most excruciating removable of them all but as the quill fell to be with it's kin, Genevieve's eyes slowly brightened with relief. Now, thankfully, they were all out.

"At the moment, I only have Thyme and Burdock. Thyme will soothe your nerves, anxiety, all that lovely stuff. You may feel sleepy too, which is probably best." The Thyme was given to Chiara to chew, the herb leaves lay gently on the ground before her paws, not making Chiara rush in eating it. "This is Burdock..." Genevieve showed the green plant to Chiara, half of it a thick, mahogany root. In her mouth, Genevieve slowly began to make the root and leaves an almost mush. The mush of sorts was chewed yet had some texture left. Making sure it wasn't completely smothered in saliva, Genevieve made a pile of the chewed up medicine. With her nose, dipping into the supply, she applied it to Chiara's bleeding wounds. "This will speed up healing and prevent infection. Double deal." For a finishing touch, Genevieve left the den momentarily, returning with spider webs.

"You may get off of her now, Odin," Genevieve told the male as she wraped the wounds in a spider-less bandage. "Tell me how it feels Chiara, I will go get more herbs but I have to know which ones to get by your symptoms." It would be difficult for Chiara, after such pain, to probably even speak to Genevieve but Genevieve was unsure; she wasn't the one who just had six quills ripped from her muzzle.

Caretaker Den - Main Story Empty
PostSubject: Re: Caretaker Den - Main Story Caretaker Den - Main Story Icon_minitimeJanuary 30th 2013, 22:25

A bright light was all Chiara saw. Her world went silent and grew slower. She felt nothing, no pressure, pain and anything. Her world was peaceful and serene until her vision came back and the pain hit her head on. Grimacing against the harsh pain her eyes watered and she let out a raspy cry. Her body tensed and she nearly grabbed on to Odin's leg with her teeth. She wanted the pain to stop, anything to make it stop, she was going to die. Howling out her body shock and a cold sweat appeared on her brow. Blood fell from her nose in large drops, but as Geneveive placed herbs on it it soon stopped.

Herbs were placed before her, and she licked them up greedily. The smooth taste of thyme fell over her maw and quickly put her at ease. Now the application of burdock took the sting down a few notches, but her eyes still let tears fall. Feeling bad her eyes averted to the ground and her voice chocked out. "I'm alright, thank you. It hurts, but not too bad. My throat is a bit dry from that screaming." She said defusing the amount of pain she was in. She was a proud wolf and the embarrassment of screaming like that stung almost as bad as her nose.

Genevieve let out a nervous sigh, her fur shivering as if she felt the same pain as Chiara. it was unbearable to watch your patient in pain, knowing there was little you could do to help. It was the same feeling she had when a young pup would become ill, even if the pup's health was assured, the Caretaker suffered right along with the child until it smiled brightly back as per usual. Chiara seemed to react well to the herbs and Genevieve's muzzle slowly nodded approvingly. The muzzle then lay softly upon Chiara's head, right between her erect ears, to comfort the fae silently.

"Shhhh...." Genevieve hushed the fae's crying, not treating her like a yearling but instead giving her a friendly, perhaps, motherly comfort. Genevieve backed away from the wounded female to oversee the wounds and let her speak, Chiara was clearly embarrassed and Genevieve could only give a small grin of support. "Try some water, but do not over drink or you will suffer a stomach ache." Genevieve lightly skidded a turtle shell of melted snow Chiara's way, the snow now a den-temperature drink though the shell wasn't overly large so there wasn't a huge threat of over drinking anyway. "Thank you." Genevieve stated to Odin, bowing in thanks to holding Chiara still during the whole ordeal.

Soon the pair entered the main clearing and found their way to the caretaker den. Creek was pleasently surprised to see it was freshly dug and would only need minor modifications to house her herbs. Nosing closer Creek scented the current caretaker Geneveive inside with another female. With a mouth full of thyme Creek entered slowly and placed her bundle in a corner before looking towards the females. Seeing Geneveive with her back to her Creek cleared her throat and sat down. Neither had been properly introduced and Creek was eager to get to know this female and learn how much she knew in the art of healing.

While waiting for her reply Creek turned in time to see the dark female lay down with fresh blood on her muzzle. Shocked she rushed over to her and nosed Chiara all over. "My dear what happened to you? It looks like you've been stabbed!" Sniffing further Creek identified the herbs Geneveive used and grinned. The caretaker had done the right thing, Creek wouldn't have done anything different. "I see you were in good hands, try to rest and after a while I'll clean your wound with a poultice to help with the swelling." She said softly before turning to the caretaker. "Good work here, it will be good to have two skilled healers here." She said warmly.

Completely aware to the new presence amongst them, gentle eyes met the newcomers. The aura amongst the older of the two was undeniable, for it was the same nature of her own; Caretaker. Having met Creek only briefly, at Rapid Fall's, Genevieve knew nothing of her worrk companion; though it was never in her nature to judge. Instead, she began to doubt her own abilities and wondered if the den was up to par. Along with the other Caretaker's arrival came new herbs as well, something Genevieve's nose welcomed.

"Hello," her voice of silver bells rang throughout the den, granting everyone with a gleaming smile. Creek's approval of her healing decisions warmed Genevieve's heart, her brown eyes darting away as Creek complimented her further. "Good heavens, no, I am no healer, it is a big relief to have someone else on board. Though, I thank you immensely, it was a terrible situation and I was just blessed to be able to assist Chiara during the ordeal; porcupine quills are extremely painful."

Ember strolled into the caretaker den after Creek had gone in. She was impressed that it had already been dug out. It seemed to have that warm glow that her adoptive mother's had. If you even had walked be the den, you would feel safe immediately. As the fae entered the den, she immediately smelled blood. Turning her snowy eyes into the den fully, she saw a two faes she hadn't quite met yet.

Walking further into the den with herbs in her mouth, she gave a Creek a look that said, what shall I do with these herbs? Ember knew better than to crowd a caretaker's den. They were busy at work to she stayed in the corner and waited patiently. A concerned gaze masked her face as she watched the caretakers work. Setting the herbs down, she spoke softly. "Are you alright, Warrior?"

-sorry it's short.... I was in a rush.-

Resting for a bit Chiara could feel the healing juices of the herbs working into her maw. With time it stopped stinging and she felt well enough to rise into a sitting position. Moving her jaw around she felt it begin to crust over with a mixture of herbs and dried blood. Inside she wished she could clean herself off, but wasn't sure if she should just yet. Two more wolves entered the small den and from the scent of one her eyes opened. It was Creek the sharp tongued female she had met by the river a few days ago, so she was a caretaker too? Behind her was a female warrior that was a sight to be held. Almost jealous at her beauty Chiara gave a quick look then trained her eyes on the two caretakers.

"I feel much better thank you, Geneveive here was a big help. Yes I am fine right now though, I would however like to go clean my maw off, perhaps get some fresh air if its alright." She questioned the two females. Turning back to the warrior in the corner she gave a small grin that looked more crooked then anything. "Darn pointy beast attacked me in the swamp, best be careful out there." She warned feeling a bit more comfortable. Standing up to stretch Chiara let her back crack from the amount of time she had been laying down, then she sat down and waited for the caretakers to give her the ok to leave.

Creek smiled at Geneveive's modesty, "My dear you don't give yourself enough credit. You may not be a full healer, but with the knowledge you do have you have saved miss Chiara here from a great deal of pain and the chance of infection. I wouldn't have done anything different." She said warmly to the pale female. Turning back to Ember Creek motioned to a small dug out area in the back, perfect for keeping herbs safe. "Geneveive this is warrior Ember, Ember this is caretaker Geneveive. Ember here has helped me to find some herbs that have escaped the first frosts and has marked where some of them still grow. When we are done here we should go to retrieve them, then make a suitable drying place in this lovely cave." Creek said warmly.

Just then the patient spoke making the cream fae turn to her. Smiling down at her Creek sniffed her nose and nodded. "I see no reason why you can't leave, just take it easy. Don't scrub too hard at your face or your wounds will open again. Also, be sure to come back this evening for the poultice I will make for you." Her smile stayed wide on her face as her eyes darted between the three females here. Turning then to Ember her smile faded slightly, "Me and Geneveive can handle the herbs if there is something else you want to do. I do thank you for your help my friend." She said with a dip of her head.

Seeing Creek's motion to where she could put the herbs that filled her mouth, the fae went to put them in that spot. Coming back to the others, Ember sat. Listening to Creek introduce them, Ember bowed her small head. "Pleasure to meet you, Caretaker Genevieve. I know some things about herbs, so I might be able to help whenever it is needed."

When Creek addressed the other Warrior, Ember silently bowed her head in respect. Why not be nice when they would have to fight side by side someday? Licking her snowy paw, she sat in the corner and stayed out of the way. When Creek addressed her, Ember spoke. "I think I will go hunt now, dear Creek. Please call for me if there is any help needed, or if you want to start the training we spoke of." Standing up, Ember then trotted out of the den. Her long tail swished as she began to run. Her stomach ached for food, and that was where she was headed.
