| Kennedy tossed and turned about in her den as a nightmare tightened its grip around her mind. Imagines of blood everywhere from which came from her own wounds caused her injured ear and scars to burn and ache within her thick, vanilla pelt. Eyes of dark sapphire blue snapped open with a startle, she gasped for air, quickly reaching to her feet and nearly hitting her head off the top of her den. Panting, shaking away the thoughts of his face before flicking her ears at the sound of light rain drizzling above. The dewy smell laced through her wet, black nose, almost instantly easing her mind at its scent's touch. Now that the fae had finally moved into Erenyx territory, all the things around her seemed to fit her needs more than what they were in Helidos. It wasn't that she minded being in the other lands, but something about it never seemed to make her feel at home or anymore relieved. But, the nightmares followed her no matter where she went or ran. Dragging her feet behind, the fae payed little attention to the skies and more to the ground in thought as Modo appeared back into her mind, growling furiously at her like as if he were actually there. Kennedy groaned, feeling the need to attack something and relieve her stress. The Erenyx's newly growing scent stuck to everything of which she passed. Dens made by the ones who had followed stretched in different areas within the clearing. But her's -much like the other one she had in Helidos- was isolated furthest away from any others for many reasons she cared not to explain.
The Apprentice, which had reached Elite of the pack wasn't far though, passing by she peeked inside to see her resting. Kennedy was not one to care what other wolves thought so she simply barked inside the cave to wake her. "Get up." She commanded. "We're heading to Satan for something to eat. And I'm not going to wait up for you." With that, she turned away, hearing Nyx stir behind her to reach to her feet. Walking was not an option, if they wanted to get to Satan before the weather lightened up they would no choice but to speed up their pace. Kennedy sprinted, hearing Nyx's legs slowly nearing close behind as grass turned to rock and air pressure rose. As the forest cut into a rocky cliff, she slowed her pace to let the Elite catch her breath. At this point, Kennedy didn't been air, she could run for miles and explore the lands if it were possible not to get caught. She had already met her and Chayton, however, Chayton didn't suit her as well as Nyx did. She was musical, but irritating all at once. The fae didn't know what she saw in her that made her believe she could be valuable, but now seeing she was given the title of what she used to be in her long ago pack, her respect was gifted completely to her. Maybe spending more time with her would rub off and make Kennedy believe in trusting others a lot more. Just maybe she could change her... but was it enough? |

| The small, snowy colored pup had felt like she had accomplished something. That log had been something that kept her from the outside world. While her brothers and sisters played, she had scratches with her small paws at the slippery log. Her mother would call her back every time she got even a few mere inches off of the ground. Little hind claws would stick into the bark, trying to elevate her puppy body in the air. The pup had so badly wanted to see what was beyond the log. Her mother said there was more of them and she would meet them soon enough. Her father came in to see them, but he always left by jumping over the log. The nursery den had grown old to her, as had playing with her siblings. She wanted to see the world, and that was what she was going to do. After a week of scratching, she had pushed her little legs enough to grip the top of the log with her claws. Using what little muscle she had, she'd pulled herself to the top. The commotion of the others was so much that they didn't notice a small pup wiggling into their world. The small pup gasped in surprise and jumped off of the log before walking around. No one seemed to notice her and she followed a few adults. Just then, the gentle jaws of her mother clamped onto her scruff and lifted her....
She woke with a start at Kennedy's voice, stirring from her joyful dreams. After processing what was said, she was immediately on her feet and following Kennedy to Satan's edge. Pretty soon, she was on the creamy fae's heels as they entered the dangerous cliff. Nyx had to admit that the danger excited her. It gave her an adrenaline rush that she hadn't felt before. The fog swirled around both of the wolves' pelts, nearly hiding her's completely. Drizzly weather like this put a spring in her step. The fae didn't typically enjoy the sunny weather, it glanced off of her white pelt and blinded her often. Though her pelt was damp, she was happy at the opportunity to hunt. A feeling that the fae couldn't shake had built up, one that wanted blood. It had been trained into her, and now she wanted it. Glancing her tongue across her canines, she stopped when Kennedy did. "What will we be hunting?" The tired was gone from her heterochromatic eyes after a series of blinking. She looked at Kennedy's blue eyes with her own. They were both very different, but Nyx was drawn to Kennedy. Really, she was her first friend in the pack. The creamy fae hadn't always been exactly friendly, but Nyx appreciated the straightforwardness. |

| The fae looked to her side, seeing the ivory female near closer. She simply listened to her words with a blank expression. "Elk." Kennedy shifted her gaze to both of the fae's ember and blue eyes. They were distracting she cannot deny, but fortunately for her, her attention was always limited. Turning her face away to scan the area, she walked closer, padding her way down the treeline in case if anything pops up or a predator will be spotted. Still speaking to Nyx, she kept her voice low so no one could hear, still facing straight in doing so. "If I've heard correctly, then the cliff should have a small supply of food running around. Rabbits, I would place your bets on. But I know for sure, judging by the weather that some will be out but not as many as we hope. Keep your eyes peeled for any movement and watch your footing. Its probably slippery out here. If you spot any prey try to find a way to get to me. We'll take it down together." The taste of her words roll off her tongue caused her stomach to stir and clench, for it wasn't the fact she liked Nyx, but the she said it sounded almost too friendly. Strange, she knew, but nothing about her was ever normal in this case.
"I'm going to take the east side, you can take the other." Kennedy's words were accidentally stern towards the fae, but hope she didn't mind. Sometimes she couldn't hand her choice of wording or how weirdly it came out. But, it wasn't entirely her fault. In her previous pack, she was not only one of the Elites, but also a mentor. She cared not of what her students thought about her hard training exercises, nor the way she preferred to teach because in the end, all of her apprentices became great Hunters. Nevertheless, she shook the thought away and kept moving, stepping over sharp rocks and peering through the thin fog that evaporated across the cliff. Her eyes darted to Nyx quickly, nodding once before continuing her walk and patrol. The rocks like she expected were covered in a light layer of water, enough for someone to fall and cut their side off a sharp side of stone. She winced at the thought occurred to her and decided to take more careful steps. |

| Her tongue ran along the side of her mouth, showing her satisfaction with the choice of prey. They were in the perfect place and time for it as well. Dew had only just settled, the fog making the tops of fresh plants just visible. The fae was surprised that she could see her companion at all with how deep they were within. She knew it was called Satan's Edge for a reason, but didn't know where the edge was. "I'll signal you by pushing a stone off of the edge. The clatter will echo enough for you to hear." With that, she darted away with her nose low to the ground. A sudden change of scent would alert her of the edge and grant her a safe way to walk upon its treacherous grounds. Many other scents came to her, but none were what she searched for. The grass changed the farther she walked, and then there it was. Water must've washed any long distance trail but it was strong now. Listening hard allowed her to hear the tearing and breaking of plants along with the thud of hooves. Adrenaline flooded her system as she darted to the edge, smelling along the whole way. Nyx stopped walking when the scent changed, and suddenly it was there. There were multiple crumbling stones that made her worry for her safety. Finding a rather large one, the fae pressed her paw gently onto it. It gave way easily, making a loud clattering sound on some ridges that stuck out.
Not wanting to be on the edge any longer, the elite bounded back to where she had found the scent. It was still there and going strong. A relieved sigh crept from her and she was glad to know the elk hadn't spooked. She followed the scent a few feet longer before stopping at a safe distance. Far off, a herd of seven or eight grazed. Nyx didn't want to take one on until Kennedy had arrived, knowing there was strength in numbers. The fae plopped her rear onto the ground and waited patiently. This was a test for her now. Seeing how much the rigorous training benefited herself. Ever so slowly she'd grown fully into her own body, no longer without muscle or filled out limbs. Though she hadn't realized much of a change, she could see it in how she held herself. The new way of moving her body had taken on. No longer stumbling, but walking. |

| It hadn't taken long for her to retrace the scent, the slightest image of an elk's antlers could be seen from just over a large rock. The image was faint along with its scent, but she knew by the flick of her ears towards the signal of Nyx that she too had found it. Perfect. Backing away from her spot, Kennedy kept her senses trained onto the scent to it wouldn't be lost within the fog along with her keen sense of hearing of the hooves against ground. Not only was it great she had someone to take down a larger prey, it left little injuries and more energy left for them to receive. Before she could entirely come up beside her, Kennedy took a left to peer through the rocks that were rised from the ground, simply using a bright blue eye to see the herd a few yards away grazing the land to themselves. She shook the thought of attacking alone, nearing the Elite's ivory side, "The herd is migrating towards the northeastern side of the cliff, we'll have to move quick before they've gotten too close to the edge. Its dangerous hunting on this ground, if we stick close and follow up with a reasonable plan of attack, then we should come out with satisfaction of a greater kill for both of us to share. Apologies for the forwardness in control over the situation, but its best we go after the female towards the outer side of the herd. She's far enough for us to corral and take on without getting trampled," Kennedy thought for a second, thinking back to a plan she had perfected long before she joined Helidos.
She peered back up to Nyx's different colored eyes and remained calm with cold eyes, "I'll distract it and bring it towards you. It'll give you the advantage to exposed flesh long enough for you to take it down and for me to grab it by it's legs." Before she could answer, the ebony creamed fae nodded for agreement, turning away without another word for she was not going to wait forever for an answer. It was either to eat or starve for the rest of the morning till evening came around with the same herd. This was her opportunity to make a better of herself and work up in rank in order to impress both the Alphess she despised, the Alpha she praised and her only friend, Nyx that she was more than just talk. Kennedy huffed out a sigh, stalking low to the ground and walking with practiced steps towards the end of the timbers to where the doe was closest. Her pulse slowed and her claws scratched at the embedded rock. Nodding her cue once again to Nyx, the vanilla fae crept from her spot, hiding between rocks for cover and remained a low profile of sound and notion of being exposed. They acted as if she weren't even there. Not a flick of the ear or wiggle of a nose to tell that they knew a wolf was there. Idiots. She thought, creeping closer towards the group. The blood and taste of elk practically flowed from her mouth at the thought, causing the fae's light pink tongue to slip over her teeth and lick her chops, flopping it out as a low chuckle whispered out of her mouth. This was enough waiting, Kennedy had to make a move for them to scram and get the female elk to her position for Nyx. She shook off the thoughts and walked out into the open. Her stance stalked towards the figure, stopping as still as a statue as the doe's ears turned. Grass spilled from their mouth as the teeth crumpled it into a mush able enough for them to digest. To her taste it was disgusting, but the more the better because it made them fattened enough for a wolf like her to dine on. Coiling her muscles underneath her pelt, her hind legs were the first to move, pushing off into the air to touch surface. She sprinted after the doe and rounded it over to its right, flanking a dead left for it to do the same, "Nyx!" |

| "Apologizes accepted, but I know all of this. I know the danger of our situation and the hunting technique you wish to use. My apologies for being rude but I'm not an apprentice anymore. Enough talk and more hunt." Nyx didn't even nod, just moved into the position. She wanted to prove herself and become worthy of not only her rank now, but what she wanted in the future. Steele needed to see that his training had been carved into her mind and changed her into a worthy wolf. The fae wasn't talking with her mind, but with her hunger. She hoped Kennedy knew the difference and took no offense. It had flared up in the pit of her stomach like the touch of fire. The thought of blood gushing into her mouth made her pink tongue run itself across the side of her muzzle. She locked her eyes onto the female Kennedy had been looking at and kept herself ivory pelt well hidden in the tall blades of grass. With fluid movements, she lowered her body lower to the grown and aligned her muscles for when it was time to strike. The elite stayed still as if she were frozen and locked into a crate of ice. Gentle winds stirred her pelt and carried her scent away from the soon to be prey. Such drizzly mornings like these were sure the create beautiful storms. It also meant that their time to hunt was a closing gap. They needed a kill, and they needed one now.
Nyx saw a flash of creamy fur, and the cow was running. Silent and still, she bunched her muscles and prepared to spring. As the elk ran closer, the fae cataloged all weak points in her mind. A system of surprise such as this was excellent, and Nyx's mouth watered. The cow grew within ten feet of her and Nyx sprung from her spot. She darted on silent paws and lunged, teeth latching onto the elk's throat and biting down on the midway point of its throat. Keeping her back paws on the ground, she pulled with all her strength and forced the elk's head down. Its knees buckled and the cow went down. She ground her jaw, forcing her sharp teeth into its vulnerable flesh. Blood spurted the ground as she tore into the flesh and bit into a vein before tearing it away, ignoring the elk's pained moans. She growled low in her throat and shook her head, watching as it died slowly and it bled out into the ground. The light faded from its deep colored eyes. Nyx didn't dare let go until she was sure, but could feel the sticky blood all over her chest and neck. An intoxicating scent was drifting to her nose and drew her to tear more into the flesh of the prey's neck. The elite let go and smelled the blood covering her body. It would be a pain to get out later, but for now she shook such thoughts. The smell of blood and meat nearly drove her mad, but she waited or Kennedy to reach her. |
