| Nodding to Juno's direction Chiara tunneled in and started to carve out the main area. Sending paws full of dirt behind her her dark head looked back to see if she had hit her new friend by mistake. Seeing no such accident her head went forward and her paws went into over drive. With the thaw the ground was easier to dig in and in a short amount of time a large cavern emerged. Feeling good about it the fae backed up and shock out her fur. Dirt and tiny rocks went flying in a solid cloud, emerging the dark fae. Smiling at her work her amber eyes went to Juno for approval. "This looks like it will hold four wolves by the time we're done." She said as an idea crossed her mind. Being spring Chiara knew all the faes would soon odd and beg for males. Having never been included in such a silly activity Chiara wondered if hr new friend would share her den with a male.
"So, spring all ready. You know the females are going to start swooning after the brutes soon." She said casually wondering if Juno too would chase after the males. Chiara herself had never done that, she in turn ignored her urges and stayed by herself. Her only time with a male had been her father, so it brought up bad memories for her. Even thinking about males made her puzzled, the fae was smart in many things but flirting was not one of them. Sighing the fae knew on the inside that no male would want such a scarred up fae, no they'd much prefer a tall and pretty fae like Juno.
Her friend's words brought her out of her slump as her eyes met hers. A nickname? No one had given her one since her father and that name wouldn't be said in civilized conversation. Thinking a moment Chiara smiled, "I like Chia, Chiara isn't even the name I've had from birth. After I left my pack i renamed myself because I wanted to sever any ties to my old home. I like Chia though." She said with a smile. |

| "Fine by me, I'm so used to having such a rather large den anyway." She chuckled as she stared back into Chiara's amber hues. Looking back at the massive entrance, her smile faded at the thought of it being spring. It was the time of year her pup Riot was born, and around the same time her loved ones had died. When Juno heard Chiara speak she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, feeling the memories flow back to when she saw their smiling faces. Spring was a season of joy and peacefulness but it had been an exact year since she had seen what peace had been like. The fact of another potential brute sharing her den with her made her feel uncomfortable. Juno was an attractive fae to most male's eyes. She could of had anyone in her old pack but she chose Ace and it was the best decision she had ever made in life. They had a beautiful pup and were enjoying their lives just like it was expected to be but ended tragically.
A shoot of pain hit her heart but her expression remained emotionless as she stared at the opening barely responding to her words. "Spring will be spring I'm sure. Fae will be fought over and soon be won by great males just like any other individual. I don't see myself having a mate anytime soon, I'm not one for the chasing. The brutes can battle all they want but I don't look for dominance..." She trailed off to the memory of meeting Ace at the border in her old pack. His smile made her heart soften and feel warm like as if his spirit was standing next to her. A faint smile peaked at her maw. "I look for the ones that are sweet and will love me not for my looks nor my achievements in life but for my difficulties and realness. Brutes will find me as another pretty face that they can easily win, but what they don't know is I'm not a prize to be fought over." She turned her head to Chiara with a lopsided smile, peering her emerald eyes into hers. The fae was in fact beautiful but didn't see the trueness inside her.
Her black ears pierced against her head and she turned back to the den listening to Chiara's responding words about the nickname she had given her. "Okay, you can call me what you like. I have no disapproval to nicknames other than Junebug. My father had called me that since the day I could explore outside the den. I didn't mind the name but it seemed so girly and innocent. " A bit of suspicion to the fae's real name hit her but she didn't bother questioning it since Chiara had already answered it in a few words. So...It was to end her past completely... She averted her glance inside the opening and thought for a moment. "Alright Chia, let's get this den finished." Juno spoke with an almost friendly but teasing tone. "Haha, I'd like to get this thing done before sunset so I can go catch us some dinner before we settle for the night." |

| Smiling Chiara continued to dig, quickly accomplishing making the walls and securing the roof. Soon her work was finished and a beautiful den lay in front of the faes. Pleased with the results Chiara sat down to rest while listening to Juno's words. Spring never meant much for Chiara for she had never put herself in a position to be around males while she was in heat. It left a bad taste in her mouth to be that vulnerable, and typically exiled herself for the few days. "Yeah you won't see me near any brutes, I tend to isolate myself during this time. I've never even really liked a male before or had a mate, have you?" She questioned more curious about her friends past.
Sitting in the dirt her eyes scanned the clearing in the fading light. The signs of spring was all around them and inside the yearning was starting to grow. "If I found any male he would have to treat me with respect, not like a piece of meat. I'd want one to listen to me and be willing to move slowly." She said more out loud than to Juno. At her next words Chiara smiled and nodded. The nickname was great, but it would take a while for the warrior to find her own for Juno. With that thought her stomach rumbled, making her embarrassed. "I agree lets finish the rest up and we can go hunting. I wouldn't mind a fat hare for dinner." She commented, standing and starting back on the den. |

| "I agree with you completely on the matter, I haven't ran into any males as of recently but I won't be surprised if I come across one soon it being spring and all. Finding the right one is rare in my case-" She stopped at mid sentence at the thought of Ace. Her lip quivered but Chiara wasn't noticing since she was looking at the nearly finished project of theirs. "I-I had a mate..." She stammered in response, it was the only way she could speak without choking. Closing her eyes she spoke. "H-he is no l-longer with us....anymore..." She hadn't spoke of her past to anyone but this fae had managed to get the truth out of her. Juno was in a state of heartbreak over the death of her beloved mate. Her throat suddenly was dry and had a lump lodged deep within it almost making her cough. Juno swallowed the lump with all her might and gaped her peppered maw letting out a slow sigh.
It felt relieving to get it off her chest about her past. "I want the same, Chiara. Having such a kind brute to truly care for me if all I ask for in this lifetime. I had a mate, yes. He was my world and I'd do anything to be with him. A year from now we had a male pup named Riot. It was the greatest time of my life and I enjoyed every moment I had with them." Her eyes stared at the tree roots and smiled at the face of Riot when he was born that one spring morning. His amber eyes gleamed into hers as Ace lay beside her keeping her warm. Still smiling and staring into thought she spoke. "I don't see myself having a mate anytime soon, but if I do...I hope to have an amazing mate like the one I had.." Ace was the only male she wanted but she lost him along with her pup and she would never see them again. It was a sad story she had to tell but she will always remember them even if she does move on and have another mate and pups again.
Her gaze went to the fae's with an understanding face, surely Chiara would get the fact that she didn't enjoy speaking of the topic but loved them very much. She too probably had a horrible past like her she supposed. Juno was going to have her walls broken eventually but she didn't expect them to be brought down on her first day of being a member. Chia was different, she was able to bring them down somehow and Juno cherished the fae's friendly manner. The black ears of her pierced back at the sound of a growl nearby. Her brows furrowed and she glanced down at her friend's stomach then back up at her with a nod. "Alright, let's finish this and we can go out. I don't want to be waiting any longer for a meal just as much as you do apparently." She chuckled and got up to follow Chiara back to the den bringing her paws back into digging position.
Burrowing deeper within the den she carved the walls and tested to see if the were collapsable. Once she found that she was sturdy she worked her way in deeper making the den very large like they expected. Dirt clouded around them and it seemed into Juno's nostrils making her have a sneeze attack. She blinked and looked up to see Chiara. "I think we're almost done. It's large enough for four wolves at least and I think that's big enough if you ask me." She sneezed again. Ow The fae probably thought she was being silly. "What do you think?" |

| Listening to Juno speak the fae had a tremble in her voice and a small stutter. Growing concerned Chiara pulled out of the den to glance back at her and the realization of Juno's past hit her. Nodding her head in understanding the dark fae simply nudged her shoulder thoughtfully and smiled. "Say no more Juno, I understand loss as well. You're lucky to have met your pup for I never got that privilege when I was younger." She said then stopped suddenly, she had said too much. Clearing her throat and thinking quickly the fae shock out her coat of dirt and pebbles.
"Well I think this is quite good for now, shall we go hunting now?" She questioned looking back at the finished den. It would easily hold four wolves now, but by Juno's words against a mate Chiara didn't think it would fill up that soon. Stepping back the fae's ears flicked to the grassy fields that were filled with deer and rabbits. Feeling her mouth watering she looked back to Juno, with pleading eyes. |

| She looked deeply into Chiara's eyes. Behind the the fae's eyes left a sorrow filled past. Juno didn't comment on her history, it would only make her friend more depressed. She chuckled at her pleading eyes and salivating mouth. The ebony fae looked up at the sky, purples and pinks and blues whirled around the clouds with the sun falling slowly over the land's hills. Her eyes flicked to the now finished den and nodded to Chiara's words. She took off first into the forest with the fae behind her. The two found a few hares to feast upon and went into Juno's den once they had their bellies filled. In the morning, they worked on the fae's den for hours. When finished they separated to their daily rounds and saw each other quite frequently since then.
Both of them had managed to break down each other's walls, and with that they shared a very strong bond. Once in a while, she would come across her friend during her rounds, and when her emerald eyes laid upon hers, an excitement burst into her chest, making her smile wide and run up to catch up with her. Spring was starting to make her feel happy again. Ever since the lost of her loved ones that one spring morning, she dread any thing the season had to come. Soon both Chiara and her would have males fawning over them, pleading for their acceptance to be mates. Juno looked at the world a tad different than what she did before. A light gleamed in her eyes, a smile plastered her maw what seemed permanent but only lasted a while. Chiara was a great friend, it was all she could ever ask for since she came to Age. |
