Summer. The word rolled off Ariste's tongue rather strangely. It was not a time she was fond of, what with the airless heat making simply breathing an exhausting exercise.  By far, her favourite season was winter, a time where all lay calm and barren, when the silence prevailed.  Birds had flown south, the hoofed animals were in search of places with enough grass to sustain them and their calves - and those who didn't simply dropped dead, an easy, albeit scrawny meal for a wolf in need.  However, Ariste not only knew action, she was well acquainted with reward and consequence, and knew not only how to catch her victims, but when to catch them, and how many.  She could not kill too many mothers, or all the future generation would merely die out.  And not to kill any helpless, young ones, or there would no longer be a new generation to hunt.  It seemed each puzzle piece of her life was strategically placed, planned out for her benefit.  Not her every move, life would have no meaning if that were so.  But every chapter, every fresh start, when the cycle would repeat itself, she'd learnt how to roll along with it at such a pace where she could not only keep up, but stay on top, which was vital for survival. And they were fast approaching the bridge of the cycle, between when Summer would shift to Fall, and animals would be abuzz with preparing their slumbers, their temporary moves, or simply preparing to survive, testing their intelligence against the cruel enemies'. Obsidian paws glided over the ground in a swift, smooth gait, keeping a four tone beat, a soft vibratonal drone. As she sped up, legs stretching out, the four beats transitioned into two, and a matching vibration began in her chest. There it stayed for some time, as she allowed her tongue to loll out. Damp. She could taste the air soddening with each step she took forward, and soon the fog swirled around her. It clung desperately to her, as if greeting and welcoming her. To their land. All to themselves, where only the most dangerous creatures and the dead dare reside. The steady hum grew until it rested in her vocal cords, now audible, before it burst out in an unusual use of her voice, one she was not used to.

"O' Death,
O' Death,
O' Death,
Won't you spare me over another year?

But what is this that I can't see,
with ice cold fangs taking hold of me?
When good is gone and the Devil takes hold,
who'll have mercy on your Soul?
O' Death..."

She surprised herself, with a song she'd heard some time ago, and had taken quite a liking to it, and her vocals wavered to match the pitch, raspy, deep voice adding a mysterious danger to it.  Her icy gaze flickered around the territory, observing it.  Everything was shrouded in the thick fog, concealing everything, including which step could possibly be Ariste's last.  But she feared not for her life, and perched atop a rock, luminaries squinting to see through to the ground, to spot the water.  She did not spend too much time dwelling on it, staring into the darness, however, stepping down from the rock.  Front half lowering to the ground, her body stretched out dramatically, and she could feel almost every muscle coming loose, every joint popping, bones seeming to creak as her ear flicked. Lowering her rump as well, Ariste lay down fearlessly, crossing her paws as she listened to everything. It seemed there were small whispers everywhere, fuzzy, but she knew they were just in her head. It was something she'd grown accustomed to. And so she sat, allowing the noises to enter her hearing filtering them to make sure no snake slithered by unnoticed, or other harmful creature got past her radar.

"This is stupid..." Katyusha muttered to herself as her paws carried her over the border of her pack, and out of the safety of Agavos. Here she had a pack defending her, a wall of fur and fury between her and anyone that may desire harm done to her. But out there, in the unclaimed lands all that could protect her was her own skill. That didn't bother her much though, as the fae felt quite confident in her abilities, especially with her training under two Alphas now. The young fae could feel the warm rays of sun beating down on her pale coat, the large puddles of black splashed across her back noticeably warmer than the much lighter colors around it. Katyusha hated summer in this land. In her birth pack summer had been the one time of year the snow melted, and the sun occupied the sky for nearly the entirety of the season, and the temperature barely peaked high enough to remove the view of ones breath from the air. But here it was a humid scorching heat that drove wolves to seek comfort in the shade, a comfort Katyusha would have loved to indulge in much more than she currently did. But she was a busy wolf, and the summer's heat simply had to be tolerated.

As the fae drove herself forward from her pack she would begin to notice the patchy fog hanging in the trees, giving the whole place an eerie feeling as it almost seemed to be swallowed by something supernatural. Glancing quickly around Katyusha would sigh, this was as good a place as any to search, and it would be a fantastic place to put a den for one who didn't wish to be found, and so forward she went. It had been some time since Katyusha had seen anyone in her 'family'. Aleu was safe in Helidos, and much better off without her mother's presence to complicate things, but Samael, her step-son had simply vanished following the horrors of the pup fights. Katyusha knew he wouldn't return to Erenyx, not yet at least, he wasn't that stupid. And if she had to take a guess, she would imagine he was safe in the lands the rogues called home, and defended as such, well aware that anything short of a pack lead invasion would quickly be repelled by the loners if they believed an invader was there to harm one of their own, or if there was still oxygen to breath. So Katyusha had set out to search the places she could go for the closest thing she could call family. As each step pushed her further into the ever thicker fog the fae began to feel her fur bristling on end, as the shadows around her began to appear as figures around her. Several times the fae would see the figure of Steele, or Aleu, or Sam from the corner of her eye, only to turn her head and have such a visage disappear into the fog.

As the fae ventured further into the dark mists she would suddenly freeze in her tracks, the strong scent of Erenyx suddenly hitting her nose. The fae felt a low growl slip from her muzzle as she lowered her form, head moving from side to side as she took a deep breath, trying to find out how close the scent was and where it was coming from. The summer air was stagnant, leaving the scent to radiate from any direction. With body held low to the ground the small fae would carefully creep forward, skilled paws carefully picking each step to limit the noise she was making, her ears swiveling on the top of her head for any sign of movement. The fae felt her heart pounding in her chest, as the honest risk of death presented itself once again. Katyusha hadn't felt this feeling in a long time, and honestly, she missed it. As the warrior crept through the fog she would begin to make out the silhouette of another wolf, now much closer than she would have liked to be to an Erenyx wolf.

Ariste had been quiet.  She wasn't completely sure how much time had passed since she had laid down in the 'oh-so-dangerous' territory, but she was enjoying the peace she received for once.  Well, as peaceful as it seemed to ever get for her.  Inhaling slowly, she took in the air around her, shoulders rolling forward as her tongue flicked out to scrape across her muzzle. Vaguely her mind wandered to pushing that Altair brute over the cliff.  He was certainly interesting, it both the good and bad ways, but she still didn't fancy meeting up with him again.  Her eyes opened and widened, now observing her surroundings. She attempted to use her vision to cut through the thick blanket that prevented almost any sight, but couldn't see so much as five feet in front of her.  Her paws shifted, flexing her claws as she stretched out one forearm to disturb the mist, but did little more than disappear into the fog, giving it a ghostly appearance, almost glowing foggy white on black. As far as distractions went, Ariste was preoccupied with this - but the second she even thought she heard a noise, her ears perked up on her skull, and she stiffened, but didn't move. Up until now it had been far too silent, with even the birds not daring to chirp, for fear the invisible beast would reveal itself, capturing it.  She quietly breathed out, heart speeding up as she prepared for any sudden attack.  It excited her, and when no attack came, she turned her head to look around.  The scent of Helidos wolf hit her before she saw Katyusha through the mist.  Leaping down from her rock, she turned, hackles bristling slightly, a small snarl ready to fall from her maw at any moment.  However, within a moment, her hostility eased slightly, though she remained tense, still prepared for attack.  "Warrior Katyusha. Such a long time since I last saw you,"  She tilted her head slightly toward the fae, and backed off from her threatening advance.  Her fur flattened out again, paws scraping against the earth as she shuffled back.  "You reek of Avagos  -  so at least such talent as yours will not be wasted in the pack of weaklings called Helidos."  She snorted at the very thought.  She had not been an acquaintance of Katyusha, but she had also been one of the few in the pack who didn't hate her, simply because Alpha Teren had basically said to hate her.  She waited patiently for any recognition - for all she knew, Katyusha had no recollection of her at all, and didn't even remember her name.  But she would wait for a moment to speak it, and give her a chance to recall it on her own.

[Sorry for such short length, I'll try to make the next longer.]

Ever so slowly Katyusha weaved her way through the fog, allowing her path to zig zag across the safe paths of this rather unsafe territory, attempting to at least mask her scent in a wide enough area pinpointing her in the fog would be difficult, if not impossible until she was close enough to be dangerous. However; it would appear her foe was currently unaware of her presence, and much more like prey at the moment, a situation Katyusha was more than pleased with. She of course had no intention of killing the Erenyx wolf, yet, but it was much easier to determine if one meant her harm or not when they were pinned safely to the ground. As the skilled warrior drew closer to her quarry the dark black silhouette began to form in the fog. At first it was easily mistakable for an oddly shaped rock, jutting from the ground. However, just as soon as Katyusha had noticed her, the Erenyx fae would jump to her paws defensively, dropping down from the rock she rest upon to slowly close the distance to the Agavos wolf. Shifting to stand upright Katyusha would show no sign of hostility or aggression, or even the notion of worry in the presence of the Erenyx fae, her ears perking as she spoke for the first time, which only served to put Katyusha even more at ease, as they weren't exactly fighting words coming from the fae.

"Ariste. Do forgive me, but I'm not sure what rank you hold now. And yes, it has been some time indeed." she said, tail hanging limp behind her as she kept her upright stance, eyes carefully keeping their position on the fae, only shifting away to carefully scan the area for any more of her kind that may be working to ambush or surround her, an effort she knew would be in vain. Though while the fog did well hiding others from sight, it did very little to mask their scent, and as far as Katyusha could tell, the pair were alone. Katyusha could feel her heart pounding in her chest, but she would never allow herself to show it, she had to act confident, and bold, as if Ariste were no threat at all to her and she knew it. But Katyusha wasn't that stupid, she knew what the Elite was capable of, and in a place like this, an omega could kill an Alpha with the right bit of luck. But there was also another strategy in the calm collected way the fae was acting, and acting it was. She simply didn't want to fight. Katyusha hated Erenyx, and she hated many of the wolves in it, most of which she would try to kill if ever given the chance. But Ariste was not one of them, and may have been one of the few wolves to show Katyusha even the slightest bit of neutrality during her time in Erenyx, since any act of kindness towards her would have been punishable by Teren. Though as the fae spoke again, Katyusha's act would falter slightly as a sincere look of surprise came over her features, leaving her speechless for a short moment.

Quickly though the fae would recollect herself, though the tone in her voice would be slightly softer now "Yes, I have chosen Agavos as my home, as there was no chance for a life in Erenyx for me so long as Teren reigned. And I must admit, I have been called many things by Erenyx wolves, but talented isn't one of them. So thank-you." she admit, holding her position as she carefully watched the other "I assume things are well for you? You look much stronger since the last time we saw one another." she said honestly, though it would be quite clear as well Katyusha had built herself back up. The time since she had left Erenyx had been quite good to her. She was building a new life free of the oppression and hate Teren forced upon her particularly, and had even been taken as Apprentice by Alpha Desmond himself. Nearly a year had passed now since her amnesia, and as with most cases she had slowly recovered her memory, and while most of the things Steele had taught her remained through it all as instinct, now only a few details of the day she lost her memory remained missing to her.
