| Yuki padded leisurely through the empty pass, her expression austere and focused in spite of her seemingly lax demeanor. The blazing summer sun scorched directly overhead, and though it still wasn't quite comfortable for the North born she-wolf, the climate was a bit nicer at the high altitude. The omega silently wondered if that was what had drawn her to this fairly barren mountain side, and she swiftly decided that it was true to an extent. The Southern, or what she considered to be Southern, warm season suited her ill, and she still wasn't adjusted to it. She was willing to do anything to escape the insufferable heat, even if it meant aimlessly meandering about such a desolate hunk of rock. There were other reasons of course, minor notions that wrought their own distinct benefits. The pack scent was staler here than elsewhere, so she was more likely to be alone if she so desired. There was the slim chance that there could be big game wandering the pass, though she knew from a logical stand point attempting to hunt something like that by herself would be absurd. The higher she climbed the nicer the view was, and a meaningless stroll did allot her some time with her thoughts.
She wasn't quite certain of what she wanted to do. Granted, there was and always would be just a single purpose to her droll life, but her goal was vague and she had yet to fine tune her plans. She had no idea where her brother was, and she wasn't certain how she was supposed to find him since his scent faded away. Beyond that she was unaware of what to do when she did locate him. Would she attack him head on, as she had done the first time they had engaged in combat? That hadn't ended well at all, but that was primarily due to her acute lack of both expertise and experience in the field. She wanted to train more, she wanted to continue to sharpen her mediocre skills until she reached the point where battling her enemy would be a doubtless endeavor. None of it constituted easy tasks. And then, of course, there was the issue of what to do if or when she achieved her valiant purpose...
Too far ahead. She cut her meandering thoughts off there before forcing down the jagged lump of shame and resentment that had been gradually building up in her throat. I can't... I can't think about that. Not until I've atoned for my mistake. Perhaps somewhere deep down she knew that wasn't quite it, that there was another glaring reason why, but she had no desire to confront such messy notions. She had to look ahead, focus on her current endeavor. Nothing in the world mattered to her more than avenging her sister, and that was enough to keep her from unraveling.
She was suddenly pulled from her pondering by a familiarly tantalizing aroma, the ever fond scent of warm blood and fresh meat. Instinct demanded she follow the trail- she supposed she was a bit hungry, after all- but her highly rational sense of logic froze her paws to the desiccated ground. Had a hunting party formed that she had not been aware of? She swiftly lifted her snout to the dry air and took a deep whiff, never once detecting a fresh trace of the pack. A nauseas sensation writhed through her gut as she silently analyzed the seemingly abnormal situation, her steel grey gaze narrowed in careful suspicion. there was an odd tension hanging over the still air, a pressing kind of foreboding so thick it almost seemed tangible to the russet colored fae. Something doesn't... Feel right... [This is ultra late...] |
