| The Alphess had commanded her servants to teach one another their god-given skills. Aye, Killian would be keeping his promise to the lovely Alphess by teaching others his hunting skills. By the time he was done with Claudia, he would make sure she knew exactly what to do when faced with any prey source. His blue eyes looked through the crowd, trying to recall which one was named Claudia. There were a few more wolves than he had thought were here. This was a good thing. This pack was going to grow and actually be a thriving one, he could feel it in his bones. As he played the names over in his head, he pictured each one speaking. Finally he called her. She was a black wolf, like the midnight sky. She had a single eye. Where the other one was, he was not sure. He would not press the question either. Instead, he moved towards the large fae and smiled to her. "Why hello mi'lady, I am Killian and I have been assigned to assist you, as you have been assigned to assist me. Shall we go to the Timeless Valley together?" he asked with a cunning smile. He made his way, going about with her.
Making their way to the valley, Killian kept up with her pace. When they made it to the destination, the male searched with his blue orbs over the hills and landscape. He looked to see what kind of prey would be living here. From the various holes in the floor, he knew the rabbits were living here. The small tracks in the snow showed there were other small creatures as well. They were not so easily disguised. "The most important thing is to look at your surroundings. Look to the ground, to the trees. Nature will tell you the clues you need to know. I can see at least five rabbit holes to the sides of the valley. If you look at the tracks, there are also raccoon, badgers, and quail. Why the quail are still here, that is a mystery... I fear, but they are here and they will be rather plump. Do you have any questions?" He asked her as he smiled to her, looking into her single eye. |

| [I've spent a few days sulking about losing my first post and I think I'm now ready for round two.]
She had been rather amused by the smile given back to her by Magnus only for it to waver and his gaze to once again fix itself on the small crowd gathered beneath him. Chuckling softly, her breath was visible as it floated into the icy air and she shifted her weight to get more comfortable. Her green gaze remained fixed on the brute, traveling over him in an assessing manner. What had changed in the long time since they'd last seen each other outside of this pack? She frowned, head tilted slightly to the left. He seemed larger somehow although she supposed that it made sense for even if he had not grown physically taller- he was definitely eating better than when they'd been nothing more than mere runaways and he had a reason to hold himself tall and proud didn't he? He was no longer an outcast but instead a leader, and as she watched the wolves all staring up at him with what was mostly awe- she sighed bitterly. She wasn't exactly jealous of the whole alpha thing despite being ambitious, it was more the whole being appreciated thing. In time she might be and she would never let it show that she was bitter about the going on's of her past but it wasn't always easiest. Being a slave could make you feel a bit worthless, but all was different now and with a brisk shake of the head, Claudia straightened and shook the light sprinkle of snow that sat atop her dark pelt and let her single green orb shift to rest on Chiara as the alphess took her turn speaking.
Her words interested the dark fae and she wasted no time in turning her head as a single eye scanned the crowd in search of the Hunter she'd been paired with. It didn't take her long to spot the brute picking his way over and an interested smile of sorts curled at the corners of her maw as he neared. He was quite the opposite of her, slightly smaller and bearing a much lighter coat that suited the snow covered landscape. Two shining blue eyes stared back at her and she let the smile grow as she dipped her head at the words he spoke. The cunning smile curling around his own jaw was a pleasant addition along with the way he twirled his words and she stood in one graceful movement, long black tail swishing across the powdery snow. "Of course sir Killian. I am Claudia as you've heard. And yes, best get going rather than freezing our paws off standing here. Need to get the blood pumping to help warm up, what do you say to getting there at a quicker pace eh?" She spoke in a velvety tone, shifting from paw to paw restlessly before finally heading in the direction of their destination at a steady trot- eager to get going. She watched the other partners moving to find their own spots in the frozen landscape and kept an eye out for the pelts of either Chiara or Magnus, feeling eager about proving her worth. She was happy enough with her partner from what she'd seen, he seemed intelligent enough and she liked the smile's he gave, not overly bright and bubbly but instead seeming to hold a mysterious, knowing look to them. It had her feeling intrigued to know more about him. Unless the time of month was just making her more attracted to him due to him being a male although she doubted it, she didn't really feel any attractions towards him in such a way. This whole thing didn't seem to affect her as much as it did to some, maybe having a bit of love mixed in made it stronger? Who knew but she definitely wasn't focused on such things like love, after growing up without it she felt little longing towards feeling such an emotion.
Flicking her ears, she returned her focus to the task at hand as they reached their destination. He appeared to have made the decision to start with hunting and she didn't really have any reason to object so she listened attentively to his words, ears leaning forward atop her head. To be quite honest, she didn't really care for a hunting lesson. The fact that she'd survived many years a loner proved that she could hunt quite fine. Of course she wouldn't know any of the tricks hunters were taught but she did pretty fine with the whole just killing what you came across. And every wolf seemed to come with basic tracking skills. But she supposed cocky thoughts would usually backfire so she refused to let them into the open and listened to the brute without complaint. When he finished she arched a brow and stared at him for a few moments as he smiled in her direction. "Touching description, makes hunting seem much more interesting than before" She murmured, more teasing than being sarcastic because in fairness the description hadn't been bad and teasing was just her thing. Magnus would know that better than most. "I do hope you're not expecting me to go burrow diving" She stated flatly, only half kidding. The bitter winds tugged at her pelt as she made an effort to stray away from her comfort zone which was mainly a sharp tongue and a pretty impressive mask and instead really concentrate on her surroundings. She strained her ears forward, using the fact that her other senses had sharpened slightly after losing half her sight to her advantage. She would be able to hear and smell things others could not. Her eyes were shut, helping her completely focus on other senses. She breathed in deeply, the fresh snow muffling everything but also making scents much fresher and clearer. A sudden cutting breeze brought with it a faint scent of something and if she listened in the direction she could just make out noise. Turning slowly, she followed the faint scent, willing Killian to stay quite in case he didn't smell it right away. She didn't know how much stronger her scent was if it was at all.
It sounded big now that she could hear it better, and finally her eye reopened fully and after squinting through the trunks for a few moments- she spotted a lumbering form snuffling around the roots of an old tree. She was quite delighted with her find. "Badger?" She breathed out quietly, eyes scanning the ground for track marks to confirm her suspicions as with the distance between them, it would be hard for any wolf to tell let alone one with only half her sight. Blood pumped through her and already she felt thrilled by this, a hunt was a perfect way to warm up before the spar. |

| She chastised him. But Killian allowed it to roll off his shoulders. If that was how she was going to be, then he was going to have to deal with it. He could handle it. It was no skin off his nose. Killian was a cunning brute and he knew how to have a good time. He was playful and could be serious when needed to be. But even with her words, it seemed like she had actually taken what he said to heart or to her head. She scanned the area and a scent wafted towards him. It was larger than a rabbit, and very dirty. He was curious how such a thing could happen. But not all animals kept themselves clean like wolves did. However this creature wanted to be, Killian was not about to allow its dirty self to get away from them. Moving to stand beside her, he nodded his head, not speaking a word. He assessed the situation. Other wolves were going about their own ways. They would have a small amount of time to get the surprise on this prey. Would they be able to take advantage of the opportunity? He hoped and prayed that the creature would not hear other wolves bickering. But the field was large and they seemed to have a rather good distance between them and anyone else. He spoke in a whisper, just for her to hear. "This is going to be an effort made by the both of us. We only have a short amount of time here before he realizes he in being hunted. If you are not used to fighting or killing such an aggressive thing. Badgers do fight back, probably more than any other prey option we have. Be careful okay. I will stand back and only include myself once you seem to need it. Or if you need me, call for me. Got it? I don't want you to do anything to get hurt, of course. But you get on to it, lass. I'll be on the bye and bye." Killian took his stance in the snow, dropping his body down low to blend in with his surroundings. He doubted the badger would be able to pick him out from the piles of snow. |

| [Sorry for the wait, seems my muse took a vacation.]
His quiet voice reached her perked ears as the words drifted across the icy emptiness to her. She kept her gaze fixed on the lumbering beast but let her ears lean in Killian's direction so that she could pick of his advice. Because pride or no pride, she was probably going to need it. She arched a brow and glanced quickly in his direction- eye falling on a snowy pelt and intent blue gaze. She watched in a few moments of silence, wind tugging hopefully at the tips of her dark pelt as she tilted her head to the side slightly. She was okay with fighting and killing and knew the aggression of a badger already but was there no hunting techniques or some fancy something she should be knowing? Something flickered through her when he told her to be careful, the words having more of an effect then they would have on most. Never had someone told her to be careful, look after herself...nothing like that. She gave her head a brisk shake and in the end just shot him a fleeting smile. Murmuring out; "I'm always careful" Before turning back to the beast that was soon to become her prey. She shifted from paw to paw eagerly in the cool snow, eye sparkling as she ran over the basic hunting skills she held. She had never gone up against a badger before and hopping on unsuspecting rabbits was just plain easy so this would take some thought. Badger's were slow so that would work to her advantage but they were strong, if she were to get caught in its jaws it would be game over. First things first she had to find the direction the wind was blowing in so she stretched out her neck- nose twitching as she inhaled the surrounding scents. With a grunt she adjusted her position slightly, scooting to the left a bit until she was certain that the wind carried her scent away and the badger's towards her. Sharp hearing picked up heavy footfalls from here and she slowed her breathing, letting eyelids fall shut and other senses roam. She slipped forward a few steps- opening her eye occasionally to make sure she was threading on safe ground and no sticks were in the way to give away her position. It was still unaware as she got closer, finally able to take in its appearance as her green eye once again became visible.
It had a bulky dark body and short stocky legs, the side of a striped muzzle also visible. She was pretty much pressed against the snow- large and dark frame trying to blend in as much as possible. Her breathing had slowed dramatically- body tense like a coiled spring. She began to creep forward as slowly as possible only to freeze as it swung its large head around to fix two black beady eyes on its pursuer. Like she'd expected it did not flee and instead let out a strange growling sound- beady eyes twinkling in the light. She pushed herself to her full height, snarling and saw it recoil slightly in surprise at the size of the wolf. However it was quick to recover and as she darted quickly to the side it turned and snapped warningly in her direction. This wasn't going to be easy. Growling she hopped towards it and sprang back again just as strong jaws snapped where she had been moments ago. Swallowing, she repeated the action at another spot, just missing its defensive snap back. She let out a surprised yelp as it moved forward at a speed quicker than she was expecting and missed catching her leg as she whipped backwards by a mere few centimeters. She needed to be more careful. Swallowing, she clamped her jaws shut, not wanting to let out such a yelp again and continued her odd dance with the creature. Her plan was to tire it out before going for the proper blow and although it would make her own muscles tire it was nothing compared to the stress he'd go through having to swing around to defend himself every time she darted forward. She managed to connect with his fur and tough skin briefly and graze it before he had the chance to retaliate, he was tiring. Pleased, she continued the dance until the time would come for the final kill. |

| Although she were a fae, Killian had a plan to wear the fae out before they were to spar. It would give him the advantage if she were more tired than he. He would be completely refreshed and ready to spar. He moved carefully alongside her, moving to the opposite side of the badger. His blue eyes watched her, seeing the creature discover that she was hunting it. It dashed, but the wolf was quick enough to catch onto it. He smiled and moved closer, keeping himself close to the ground. Her black form stuck out of the snow like a lone tree in a barren plain. But Killian was able to camouflage easily. He waited until it appeared she would need his help. In an effort to assist, he lunged at the badger, sinking teeth into the rump. There he could help control the hind legs and try to stop as much movement as possible. If he got this, then she would be able to hit the killing blow. In order to help himself, he used his paws to try and press weight down on it, pushing the legs deeper into the snow. He pinned the legs down, helping all that he could. He moved his jaws to wrap around the rear leg of the beast. Easily he snapped a single leg and released the beast. He stood back and allowed the midnight wolf to do as she pleased. Smiling to her, he waited. |

| The dance continued, large body managing to hop away with an agility greater than this lumbering beast, a trait she was not used to holding. Her large paws left the snow flattened and dirtied as she continued to leap back and forth, back and forth. However this creature wasn't going down without making her work for it and although she could see it was weakening, she was having to put more effort into it than she'd originally wished. However soon out of the corner of her one working eye, she caught site of a movement in the snows and suddenly the undistributed whiteness surrounding her was disturbed by two azure eyes as a form shifted in the snow. He had definitely done a good job with that blending in, she must be visible from a long way off. However she couldn't let thoughts distract her and focused on the badger as it snapped irritably at her, missing her only by a few centimeters. Careful, dammit! She scolded herself, putting an extra strong bounce in next time. However soon Killian left his spot and rushed at the creature from behind.
It had little time to react as he grabbed its leg, tugging until a satisfying crack reached her sensitive ears. She would waste no time in lunging forward as the badger swung around a striped head, aiming to snap powerful jaws at Killian. Her jaws closed around the exposed neck, applying as much pressure as possible as she felt them break through the tough skin and crush through other things vital for this animal's survival. It made one last frantic effort to throw her away but Claudia held on tightly as it tried to dislodge her, savoring the blood that gushed into her mouth with a metallic tang. Soon the movements grew weaker and weaker until they stopped altogether and she still waited a few moments to make sure it was definitely dead before opening her jaws to let the animal fall lifelessly to the ground. Blood still tricked from its gaping wound, staining the pure snow with death as she stood above it, panting. She shook her head and straightened, running her tongue over her bloodied muzzle and fangs as she smiled. "Well that was what I'd call an eventful hunt" She leaned back on her haunches, allowing her body to rest. She was thirsty now but not dreadfully so and since there was no visible water source nearby, she scooped some of the snow not stained red with blood into her maw and let it soothe her throat. It did the job and she turned her single emerald orb back onto the brute she was partnered with.
"Make a pretty good team huh? Although if there was no competition between us I'd hope you would offer a paw a little sooner maybe" She would chuckle softly, breath visible as her warm breath clashed with the icy air. She looked down at the dead badger and raised a brow dubiously, she had never been around a dead one before and to be honest, had no idea if it was a prey source or not. "Does one even eat a badger?" She would ask with a frown, poking the dark fur with a single large paw. Sighing she would stand and stretch "-and I suppose you will be wanting to spar too, hm?" She twitched her ears, feeling slightly exhilarated after the hunt and prepared for a good spar. She wasn't too tired out, not as energetic as she'd been before perhaps but she was a large wolf built for going for long times without tiring. She smiled at the smaller hunter, awaiting his words. |
