Rest Your Eyes on Somebody Else

Thump. Thump. Thump.
The fae could feel her heartbeat throughout her body, all the way down to her tired paws. Travelling through the whole of Winter had taken its toll on the female. Her coat had lost it's normally gleaming sheen. Taking the time for a lengthy groom wasn't first priority when roaming unfamiliar and hazardous lands. The grass underneath her was a vibrant green. It was beautiful, just like the rest of the scenery around her. The female had picked up on a scent a few days previous and followed it on a whim. It was definitely the distinct aroma of a pack, all mingled together like it was. Something had tugged at her to follow it.

It had been so long since the fae had been close to another wolf that when the scent markers that indicated the borders of the pack startled her. She stopped abruptly a few feet away from the invisible line. Was she really going to do this? The rapid beat of her heart betrayed her own fear and excitement. She missed seeing other wolves, talking to others, belonging. She hoped this was the right decision.
Not giving herself another chance to second-guess, Frìth tilted back her head and let out a howl to whatever pack dwelled here.

The alpha yawned as he slowly itched form his den. it was lonely without anyone else in there with him, which made him feel quite isolated sometimes. Seeing as some of the others were up and around, the ginger male decided to patrol the borders before getting down to the more difficult business. Trotting from the clearing into the lands, his nose picked up all the new spring smells. Flowers were the most abundant of the scents. He couldn't identify one in particular, unfortunately. A smile spread across his maw as he admired the world around him. it was something that he did quite often. The world was a wondrous and beautiful place, but has a dark side as well. He knew that dark side and how quickly it can strike. yet, it was beautiful all the same. Looking up at the bright blue sky, he could feel the gaze of his beloved upon him. He had nothing but faith that she was watching over him as he continued his life. Bravery and motivation filled hims s he knew Rose would want him to stand strong and move forward, but not forgetting her.

Moving along the boxers, he heard a howl up ahead. Ears erect and forward, he swiftly picked up his pace. Upon breaking through he brush, he could see a female sitting a distance away on the other side of the border. Looking at her, his body was calm and relaxed. "Greetings fae. You have come upon the borders of Helidos, led by myself, Alpha Sitka." Peering up to the sky once more, he turned his attention back to the stranger. "What is it that you called me here for?" He stood with his body relaxed as he waited for a response.

Frìth's paws began to knead to soft grass in anticipation. A mixture of nervousness and excitement swirled inside her. Luckily, the fae soon saw a figure approaching. He walked at a brisk pace towards her. As he came into better focus, she noted the fiery tone of his fur, reminding her of autumn leaves. Frìth stood as he grew near and stopped. Keeping her tail low, she noticed his relaxed posture. Keeping her head slightly bowed, the fae's ears perked a little as the male spoke.
The brute greeted her, introducing himself as Alpha Sitka. Another jolt of nervousness ran through her. She'd never had to do this before, she just hoped she was doing it right.
"What is it that you called me here for?" Sitka enquired. Taking a deep breath, Frìth looked up from the ground.
"Hello, Alpha Sitka. my name is Frìth. I've come to ask you about joining your pack.

He watched silently as she addressed herself. Noticing the signs of submission on her body made him relax quite a bit more than he would have in she did not at his arrival. He wasn't demanding of submission unless it was by newcomers whom he did not know. Looking at her as she spoke of her coming to the lands, he nodded. This was his first border acceptance as an alpha and he intended to make it turn out well. His posture was higher than before and his tail was higher above his back. He needed to get used to stating his dominance, as he had never done so before. His eyes curiously scanned over her body as he tried to detect any sign of aggression from her, but all was clear. "I see. What is it that you can bring to my pack? What importance would you be to us? My pack and I need strong wolves to build us up again after a string of deaths recently." His cool eyes were soft but stern. He meant business in his situations. He only wanted the best of the best to represent the pack he loved. Sitka intended for Helidos to become strong again. And maybe soon, have a few allies to assist him. He already had Crow as a dear friend and ally to him if he ever so needed.

Frith watched as Sitka took on a more dominant pose. The fact that he hadn't immediately was a little odd to her, but what did she know about border encounters? He nodded at her answer and a wave of relief went through the fae. She hadn't completely messed up yet.
Alpha Sitka then went on to question her about what she could bring to the pack, saying that he needed strong wolves after a losing a few pack members to death. At the mention of the fallen, Frìth lowered her ears, she knew firsthand how devastating death within the pack was.
"I'm sorry for your losses, Alpha Sitka. I have been trained thoroughly in the skills of hunting since I was a pup by my mother. I have dabbled in fighting, but hunting is my forte.
she said, with quiet confidence. The Spring wind around them continued to ruffle the woman's fur. Her blue eyes watched how the breeze blew around the grass at the pairs' paws. The Spring here was much warmer than the Spring back home, but she enjoyed it. It felt as if it was already Summer.
