It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live
Azul returned from the river, his paws covered in the dirt and mud, even as he passed through the snow. His mighty form was hunched over, filled with sorrow. But he knew that duty must come before he could show any grievance to the pack. They needed him to be strong, just as they needed the same of Nnlya. The great Elder, ex Alpha, moved to the pack center and looked from one den to the other. How many wolves were nestled in their dens, he was unsure, but he rose his head high and released a call to the pack. He closed his eyes as the sorrowful howl filled the air around them. He called for the pack once more, just as he had after the great war. Surely the wolves would be tired of hearing this style of howl from him. He knew it had to be done, and he knew it had to be done soon. Better late than never. "Wolves of Helidos, I have some urgent news and I need you all to come to the pack clearing. There is much we need to discuss!" Soon they would come, filling the center and waiting for the words from him.

It was Xora's first actual day in the pack, her eyes scanned the lands around her as she walked, snow layered the ground although she knew it would soon be spring. Pups would be born, which meant fae's would be seeking a healer in order to help with pains or any pup problems. She knew she would need to be prepared and after being in the healer den she noticed that they were low on specific herbs that would come in handy. So she set out to find them, using her keen sight and great sense of smell to search through the snow for the important ones. She had gotten an mouth full when she heard the howl full of grief and sorrow. She knew this wasn't good whether or not she was just accepted into the pack she had to go and make sure everyone was alright. She moved as quick as her legs could and slowed when she entered the clearing. She looked to the wolf who seemed to be the source of the howl and calmed, slowly dipping her head to him out of respect and in wonder about what happened. She dropped her herbs at her paws as she sat down and looked up to the male. So far she was the first one there. And it didn't look good, she could see the sorrow in his eyes and she could tell that something was troubling him. Although she knew from her experience of her past packs that he would speak of what was on his mind soon enough. So she stayed silent. Wondering who this wolf was, what urgent matter he needed to speak about and what was wrong.

though you may walk alone
Nnlya returned from the riverside with the Elder after burying their Alphess. They had to break the news to the pack and offer up a new leader. They had to be strong, resolute. There was no room for fear or anxiety. The Elite pushed down all her feelings on the walk back to the main encampment until her face was a mask clear of any emotion. She could not give away what was about to transpire, anyone could be watching from the shadows. She must show no weakness, no emotion.
Her eyes of bright blue were as hard and cold as the ice that still clung to the branches above, her gaze just as deadly. She had lost too many, she was angry. But in spite of it all, the pain, the sadness, the anger, the emptiness, she stood tall. Her footsteps were easy as if this were a stroll with her family. Nnlya joined Azul at his side and slightly behind, offering a position of support and authority. She had to be here to support his claims - possibly to give the firsthand account of how their Alphess had died. She would need to voice enthusiasm for their choice in new leader and aid the Elder against those who opposed him. She waited and watched the wolves trickle in from their daily duties, taking the time to look upon each one and note the unfamiliar faces. She would need to speak with them, get to know them.

The sound of a mournful howl coming from the pack camp filled the creamy brute’s ears. Blue eyes snapped to attention as the prey he had been stalking dashed off in terror. The last time he had heard a howl like that…it had been Elder Azul after the war. It was Azul and not Rose who had called, which wasn’t a good sign. Fear resonated through every fiber of his being, fear for his friends and his remaining sister. Please…please let Rose be ok. Large paws carried the male swiftly toward the clearing, the urgency of the matter clear in the voice which he had heard. Thunder soon found himself loping into the center, slowing to a slow walk as he approached the Elder and Elite with a respectful bow of his head to each of them. He let his gaze sweep around once before focusing once more on the charcoal wolf, his ears flat against his skull. “Is it what I think it is?...Is it my sister?” He asked quietly, sorrow dulling his eyes for a moment. “Never mind..I’ll find out.” The male murmured with another dip of his head. Thunder took a seat somewhat to the side, not wanting to seem disrespectfully close to the high ranks. He had no reason to ask more questions, for clearly the purpose of the meeting was to discuss this bad news. Instead, the brute would keep his gaze fixed on Azul and Nnlya with a half-hidden spark of worry. He just wanted to know where Rose was. In the back of his mind, he knew exactly what this was about, but every bit of him fought off the thought viscously in desperation. Where is Sitka? Surely he knows whether she is alright. What kind of brother am I? No, no. She is fine. Maybe it was another…but that’s just as bad. The cream and grey wolf could not keep his thoughts from swirling within his mind, although his expression remained one quiet concern for the sake of all packmates. I must stay strong.
He walks. "He talks." He thinks.

The ivory she wolf was wandering across the terrain at ease, that's when the sound of anothers' howl ringed for her attention and she decided to take the way back and see how things were going to be like. She hasn't seen the others lately, no not at all that well for the matter. Emilia assumed everyone was busy and that doing their own activities to keep them preoccupied was at least what they needed to accomplish. However, Azul was the one who she found within her field of view - along with other members whom arrived with unusual gestures. She did take notice that the male's howl wasn't an ordinary tone, rather a mournful response to what she has not witnessed but wondered what the situation revolved around when and especially who. Her olive hues landed on a familiar canid of the pack, Hunter Thunder who seemingly looked ill; unsure, gloomy. His body language was identified that he was nervous and she watched him from where she held her statue at ease. There were also a few other wolves, to her not so recognized by their scent or even their appearance.
As there was another canid standing beside the ivory male, her eyes glistened at the unfamiliar visage she glanced at. Where she positioned herself made Emilia's mind ache with grief of the loss of their previous Alphecca Quinn, who she only knew her name and not physically held a word of exchange with. As the shadows of the tree maze danced along the earth's tone, her broad haunches moved with a roll as she carried her own weight over to a pair of trees. Head hung low as her receptors pivoted and orbs focused ahead. Slumping down amongst the terrain she awaited. She was slipping behind on her work, her duties - she needed to make up now or she shall not see the end of her journey. This meeting has yet to begin as there would need to be more ears for this urgent request.

Healer Naya woke up from her slumber and walked to the pack clearing to see what new there would be since all of the wolves of this pack had been called together. She shook her head to clear her head from the sleep that had yet to leave her body. She walked slowly to the pack clearing where she could see some of the other wolves gathering around an elder wolf. She took her place just close enough to hear but just so that she didn’t stand in the way of any of the other wolves that would come. She looked across the pack trying to see if there were any wolves that she knew, she only saw the elite that had greeted her at the border, what was her name again? Was it Nnyla? Yes it was right. She walked across the clearing and stood as close to her as she dared, something seemed to not right She looked at the fae next to her and slowly asked “is there something wrong Nnyla? ” she had grown from the wolf who almost laid on her stomach they day they met at the border. The responsibility as a healer of the pack had done that to her, and she remembered that she yet had to practice her fighting. She looked up at the elder as she waited for the rest of the pack to gather, the sound of the sorrowful howl would forever be in her mind.

Teeku had been feeling off all day. Something was wrong and he could sense it. What that something was he just couldn't figure it out. The feeling however persisted throughout the morning, making him unable to remained focused. His dark fur prickled with unease, body tense. So when he heard a solemn howl echo out into the territory from the elder Azul, Teeku's heart sank. Quick as his long legs would take him, he followed the sound. Arriving in the clearing, he slowed his deep amber eyes darting around. The few wolves who had already gathered looked as uneasy as he was. Swallowing a terrible feeling, Teeku made his way over to stand beside Naya. Mouth feeling to dry he merely gave her a nod. His deep amber eyes roaming the clearing once more. Where was the Alphess? Surely she'd want to be present? Shifting his weight from paw to paw, Teeku did his best to remain calm. His heart however pounded rapidly, his fur still raised uneasily along his spine.

Paws hitting the earth, he raced from the neutral lands towards Helidos. He could clearly hear Azul's mournful and calling howl. Something happened. It was a very negative feeling deep in his chest. Please just let Rose be okay... His mind raced wight he thought of something have happened to Rose. He couldn't lose her. Not after Marrok, Juno, Quinn, and many others whom he cared for. What would come of Helidos? Who would take over? He wasn't mated with Rose, so he wasn't the alpha. Panting, he sprinted forward towards the pack lands. He could hear his heartbeat in his head and feel it in his stomach. It wasn't good, this feeling. Worry consumed him as he broke into the clearing.
Frantically, he looked around for someone, anyone. He first saw Nnyla. Quickly walking up to her, he could tell her face was filled with grief and sorrow. She was breaking and it was beginning to show. A helpless whine escaped his throat as he looked at the Elite. "N-Nnyla? Where is she? Where's Rose?" His voice quivered with fear. He stood there, waiting for someone to say something about where his Rose may be. He could not see her in the clearing. Only Azul was upon the space where the alphas would stand. "No.. no.." Whines were more frequently escaping him. Something happened. He looked between Azul and Nnyla, trying to read their faces for some sort of hint of what could have happened to his beloved.

He had heard the call echoing through the trees and he'd lifted his tired gaze slowly, not even wanting to answer it. His brief meeting with Emilia had been nice but after that he'd fallen back into a state of stressed out silence, he wanted to talk to Breeze again but he was nervous. Rumor had it that Agavos had heard of his disappearance and were furious at the thought that he might've left them and of course they had rights to. He was a mess of a wolf. A heavy sigh escaped his scarred body, so many wounds scattering it from fights he'd never asked for. He lifted his amber gaze to the cloudy sky sadly, whispering to the bitter breezes. "What would you think of me now father? Or even mother? Were they right, all those others in the packs that hated us for our mixed bloods. Saying we'd never know true loyalty because of it, was it true? Perhaps love does not conquer all...perhaps parents, you were wrong..." He dropped his gaze, emotional pain tearing at him as he began to make his way to the pack clearing.
The emotions he met here were no better, it was like walking into a pit of stress. It was Azul who called which was odd, where was Rose? He noticed pained looks on some wolves faces and uncertainty on others and suddenly he felt dread prick at his paws. Where was Rose? It was like a pit had opened up beneath his paws and he was falling and falling and falling...he stumbled through the crowd- heartbeat racing and blood roaring in his ears. He'd promised Rose, promised her he'd keep her safe. He sworn not to let her down for giving him a second chance. He could not have failed her too, please god no...if she was gone, he would never forgive himself. He spotted Emilia nearby, the only familiar face in the crowd but he could not bear to approach her. He stood rooted to the spot, alone. This wasn't right, it wasn't true...it couldn't be. "Rose where are you?" he whispered to no one in particular, soft sound being carried away by the cold winds. He couldn't feel a thing within him, his breath had gone all shaky and anger poured into him like a virus. He was not used to such rage and it scared him, but it was all directed at himself. Self-hatred clawed at him from the inside causing a little moan to escape him, a sound of despair. He had failed, again. He was worthless, he'd betrayed one pack to fail helping another. He was pathetic, all he'd wanted to do was good and he'd ruined everything...He wanted to run, run and keep on running for ever but his paws were heavy and he stayed rooted right to the spot. His ears leaned towards Azul as he gazed at the Elder with desperation burning in his amber orbs. 'Please say she's alive, just please don't...no. His claws scraped across the icy ground and he squeezed his eyes shut, listening frantically for some sign of her being alive.

Crystal was asleep in the entrance to her den, when the howl woke her. It was not her good friend Rose's howl, but that of Elder Azul. The howl sounded mournful and full of grief. Rising to her feet quickly, she padded out into the warm sunshine and stretched. Crystal then headed off towards the pack clearing. Arriving at the clearing, Crystal could see a number of wolves already there and fear gripped her heart when she saw that her old friend was nowhere in sight. Slinking around the edge of the group, she nodded to another good friend Elite Nnlya, and bowed to Azul. Looking around she saw a few more wolves she recognised including her fellow Autay, Emillia, Scout Twelve and the most recent packmate she had met, Hunter Thunder. She spotted a space next to him and slipped into it. Minutes passed by and there was still no sign of Rose. Crystal kept scanning the area, her worry and fear increasing each time. Eventually she returned her gaze to Azul and Nnlya. "Please...no....not Rose..." She thought desperately as she fixed her gaze on them.

On aching limbs and a weary mind, the brute headed out in the snow once again to search for his love. Many days had passed since he last saw her, far too many for him to not be concerned that something tragic had happened. Surely she would not just leave him like this after confessing their attraction and love for one another, she couldn't be avoiding him. At this stage he was running on very little sleep and barely any food, his sole purpose for an unknown period of time now had been to find Elsbeth and these things that were essential for his health were no use in helping him do that so he had ignored them. Blinking tiredly, he made it into the forest past the clearing before a howl awoke his senses. Putting the sound down to his sleepless delirium, he padded forward a further couple of steps before the realisation of whose voice it was struck him. Over his years in the pack, he had heard this urgent mighty call plenty of times and knew of its importance. It was not a figment of his imagination, it was Azul, the wise elder and former leader of the Helidos clan. Significant news was bound to be told before the whole pack and by the sounds of this call in particular it was because something had saddened or distressed the Elder. He had to be there. Searching for Elsbeth would have to wait... Or perhaps she'd be there for this impromptu rendezvous?
Pivoting quickly on the spot, Eclipse turned tail and trotted swiftly back over his prints to enter the pack clearing. Several others were there already; some he knew personally like Crystal and Nnlya, others he knew by face, and some he'd never seen at all. Anongst them there was a male that looked particularly worried. All of them were his pack, but right now he was not bothered about any of them except one. He scanned the crowd eagerly, his gold orbs flickering over them and hoping to catch sight of the familiar feminine figure with the luxurious brown and tan coat. She wasn't there. Neither was Ciro, but he was quite sure the apprentice was alive. A sinking feeling filled his stomach as he quietly found a place to sit on his own. Puffs of air from his own exhausted breathing clouded the space before him and he stared at it blankly for a moment, thinking of what he could do, where she could be... had a loved one really slipped from his grasp yet again? It was too much to bare thinking about at this time so he made an effort to turn his attention to his superiors, ears pressed forwards despite whether or not he could really focus on what they would say right now. It was then that he noticed that the Alphess herself wasn't present for this meeting and the expressions of those at the front appeared rather grim. What happened? Where was Rose? This was all so confusing and so sudden. His fur raised and tail tapped the ground repeatedly as his anxiety grew, sensing the discomfort of other members. Nothing seemed to be right.

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live
He could see all the pain in their faces. He could see the hurt in their eyes. The pack was intelligent and they obviously could tell that this was something serious. Azul looked to each one, listening to their words if they spoke, but choosing not to reply in return. He took a deep breath and looked over his group with as strong as he could. He knew that Nnlya was close by to him, he could smell her so close, and he would need her help, just as the rest of the pack needed her. "Sitka, I am sorry..." He looked to the Delta of the pack. "Nnlya has found Rose, and she is no longer breathing. The Alphess was bitten by an adder. She died quickly as the venom worked quickly through her body. Since she is gone, we will need a new leader. I am far too old to reclaim my position over the pack, and knowing Rose had every intention to be mated with you... Nnlya and I feel as though we should allow you a chance to rule over the pack. You don't have to take it, but I know it is something that Rose would really appreciate. You deserve it. If you accept the offer, please speak before your pack now." Azul had a feeling that he would accept it. His heart was probably more than broken, and he knew the feeling all too well. He had lost Lucy, lost his only daughter, and his sons. He lost everyone he cared about, even wolves within power or leadership. It was becoming a horrible trend and he truly wished that no wolf would continue to fall under this curse again.

A spark of pain swept through his body has he heard the tale of Rose's death. He could not think straight. He could hardly believe she was gone. Looking at Nnyla and Azul, seeing the pain and sadness in their features, he knew it was true. One mistake sent his beloved angel to her death. He nodded as he listened to the Elder's words of him becoming the alpha. Looking up at the sky, as if he knew Rose was watching him, he nodded and pulled his russet body to his paws. Moving to stand by Azul, he looked down over the pack. They were counting on him to be their leader and he would not let down the pack that took him in and gave him a life he was proud of. "Wolves of Helidos, as it greatly saddens me to hear the death of my beloved Rose, I knew she had ever intention on myself becoming your alpha. To rule together with all of you by our side. We were planning to have a litter together this spring after we had Azul preform our mating ceremony. But, as much as we all hate it, life goes on and we must carry out our lives with those we lost in our hearts. I will accept the position of leading Helidos. I will forever be grateful to each and every one of you for loving and supporting this pack as I have done form my first arrival here. Now, it is time for Rose, Quinn, and the others we have lost to hear us as we are at our lowest point. Symbolizing to them that we will be stronger and a better pack than ever before. It's time to build back together for all we have lost to Erenyx." With the end of his speech, he tilted his broad head back and released a strong howl from within him. It rang through the clearing for all to hear his song of joy and pain. He was going to ensure the safety of his pack. They were counting on him to lead them, and he had all the help he could need from them in return.

It seemed to take ages for the others of the pack to arrive. As if time itself was stuck, unable to push forward. Only heightening the ever growing anxiety in Teeku's pounding heart. His deep amber eyes flickering over the form of Rose's lover Sitka. The worry emanating off the brute's fur only making Teeku feel worse. Sucking down a choked breath of air, Teeku looks at his paws. Don't be dead, don't be.... His thoughts are cut short as Elder Azul began to speak. Teeku remained with his head bowed his eyes closed. Awaiting to hear the fate of his beloved friend. His slender ears however quickly pulled back against his skull, his head shaking. As if shaking his skull could make the white brute's words untrue. She was dead.... she was gone. Feeling cold, Teeku froze his world starting to crash around his ears. Finally he moved, only to let out a devastated whimper, and slump to the ground. No! No! No! She's not dead! No! A voice yelled inside his head. She can't be.... But as he peeked open an amber eye he knew it was true. He could read it in the eyes of his pack mates. Alphess Rose was no more.... Feeling broken, his heart aching as badly as it had after his sister's demise so long ago, Teeku tried his best to listen to Sitka's speech. His deep amber eyes which normally held a playful glow, were dark and dead looking. Like all the light had been snuffed out, killed like their beloved Alphess. Despite this as their new leader raised his head in song, Teeku found his own head tilting back. A mournful song released from his lungs, carrying out into the air mixing with his pack mates voices. Becoming lost just like he was now.
