Can't See The End of This (Border) Empty
PostSubject: Can't See The End of This (Border) Can't See The End of This (Border) Icon_minitimeMarch 9th 2016, 17:14

Just a little pain...

Fear.

It was like a living thing. A violent monster who lived to make its host suffer. A disease that invaded and destroyed everything in it's path. Few were immune to it. Few knew the cure.

And Lyric was not in those few.

It spread from the end of her nose to the nails on her paws to the tip of her tail. It was everywhere, clawing and roaring to escape and break her for good. On shaky paws, she continued forward. Everything was ragged and unsure, from her steps to her breath. She could hear, see, feel the beast of her past inside her, torturing her. If only she could escape her memories, which surrounded her like a suffocating cloud. What she needed now was oxygen.

But what was her oxygen?

Eventually, she collapsed. She didn't remember when, or how, but she was suddenly aware that she was lying on the cold ground. She didn't even move. She needed to take a minute to think... Or to stop thinking. Maybe that was her oxygen; complete silence both in her mind and in her ears. Her sea green eyes fluttered, and she focused on her breathing and slowing it down.

Once it was almost back to normal, she still didn't get up. There was nothing to live for. There never was. Growing up under an abusive teacher, who hid the greatest secret which had haunted her everyday for months? Then randomly tell her the answer to the puzzle and rape her? Then allow other males to do the same, as if that was the only reason to still be alive?

And that's how she knew she was seriously screwed up.

So she lay there in the snow, the cloud growing ever thicker and choking her worse than before. Will it always be this way? Living as a toy for males to use for pleasure? Such a terrible ideal...Will she ever be able to trust anybody enough to let them in? For real, to her emotions, the feelings she keeps locked up... Will she ever let them see her? The real Lyric?

She didn't even know if the real her was the real her anymore...

Should she just lay there in self pity until some nasty predator comes and takes her life? Or until another wolf comes and kills her? She certainly wouldn't fight back. She'd forgotten how to actually fight back...

She walks. | "She talks." | She thinks.

NOTES: Dramatic, yes, but she's a little screwed up lol. #Excited

though you may walk alone

Spring had sprung and the flowers were in bloom. All of winter had passed and yet her son had not appeared. In reality all hope was lost of finding him alive and slim enough to be nonexistent was the hope of finding his body. Only recently she had buried her friend Rose, the second Alphess she'd lost here. Was it not fair that she got to bury her own son? Her two remaining children had come to terms with their brothers death, or so it would appear, but Nnlya refused to believe her son gone without proof.

As with every other day she was scouring the lands for her child with no success. The scent trail had long-since gone stale, nothing to be found or followed. Why could she not simply accept he was gone? But some days, when her hope was at its lowest, she would pass Ciro in the pack clearing and her faith was renewed. He was from Erenyx and had a mother and father who likely loved him very much, perhaps Thane was in the same position. Perhaps he was captured and forced to remain in one of the other three packs. Admittedly she didn't know much about the young brute and who his family were but surely they wanted him to come home.

Without the added barrier of snow to slow her movements the Elite made it to the borders swiftly. When she wasn't answering a specific call she would divide her time using a sector system. Each day she moved further along the borders, although if she had more time on her paws she might complete two or more sectors. This particular morning she found herself in the old grove of maples, not far from where she had been accepted into the pack some years ago. It was there she found a creature curled up just outside the borders.  The charcoal fae approached, all motherly instinct taking over, she nosed the creature where it lay, scenting life still within. "What ails you child? In what way might I help you?"

Just a little pain...

As she heard the approaching pawsteps and then the warm nose nudging her pelt, her vibrant eyes snapped open. Leaping to her own paws, the female shied away from the fae before her. At her question, Lyric relaxed in the slightest, the tone of the stranger's voice comforting.
"Nothing," Lyric whimpered, shaking her head frantically as if she could shake away the memories. "I come from a bad past, miss..." Lyric amended, not wishing to seem like a threat to the fae. "I'm not sure I can be helped. I have recently run from my old pack, in hopes that I'll find a new home... Do you know of any places nearby where I can search for such sanctuary?"

Lowering her head, Lyric shifted her weight between her front two legs, trying to avoid eye contact with the other wolf. Such an idea might make her seem like an enemy, which was the last thing the poor vagabond needed. Nothing but a lowly nomad with no place to call home, the multi-hued fae felt awful even talking to such a creature who held themselves with such integrity and pride.

She walks. | "She talks." | She thinks.

though you may walk alone

The Elite took pity on the fae and kept her expression gentle. This child was yet another running from a haunted past. She could relate to the fae. "Indeed child, there is such a place. In fact, you stand upon the border of it. My name is Nnlya and this pack I reside in his Helidos. Might you have a name?" She watched the fae carefully, noting her nervous demeanour as well as the creatures shaking head. It was a trick she had tried herself in times of mental distress. As though the physical action of shaking could banish the cruel thoughts plaguing her mind. The Elite knew it was a fanciful idea that never really worked, but it was more comforting to try than to have no control over ones thoughts. The brain could be a cruel thing, conjuring up images of friends long dead, or words left better unsaid, taunting the creature with the knowledge of what was, what might have been and what will never come to pass.

[So late, so crappy, but I needed to get this up. I have so much homework, and very little muse, so Imma make this quick.]

"Lyric," the multicolored loner replied in response to the stranger, who now had a name. Nnlya... An interesting name, for sure, but it was pretty as well. "It's nice to meet you," the timid fae said quietly. "In this pack--not that I'm doubting you or anybody else in Helidos, I'm just curious--how would you describe Helidos compared to the others around these lands?" Lyric glanced up, her aqua orbs searching for any signs that could mean Nnlya was upset with her.

She hesitantly sat down on her haunches, as she awaited an answer. Strangely, the scars she had hidden under her pelt seemed to throb. As if the ones who haunted her past were just daring her to try and escape. Panic fluttered within her chest as she wondered if said wolves would hunt her down. She was terrified to wonder what would happen if they were to find her, and the urge to train herself up was stronger than ever. She had to be able to protect herself.

though you may walk alone

Lyric, a delicate, musical name for a timid fae. It was fitting. The fae was clever, asking to know what Helidos was like. It was not something she had been asked before. Most wolves went to the first border they encountered and hoped for the best. Many stayed with the pack they chose, but some changed their minds and so did their loyalties. Lyric would be well informed of what she was getting herself into.

Nnlya smiled softly. "Each pack has its defining characteristics. Erenyx is a place of cruelty, run by a demon who wishes only death upon those who do not follow him. Agavos is the pack of those who do not fit elsewhere, lead by a Rogue Alpha - although I've heard no negative reviews on him to date. Pyrvanthros is young but strong, lead by an Alpha and Alphess who refused to remain in Erenyx where their lives were not their own. But Helidos is different. Helidos was here before all the others and we have tolerated their presence since their establishment. We are strong, fair and merciful. We offer a second chance to those who need it. Even the kindest of wolves you meet here will likely have a history."

Nnlya paused for breath, having a few questions of her own. "If I might ask, Lyric, where do you believe your talents lie? Are you trained in combat or a proficient huntress? Perhaps your passion lies with the education of the young, or did you study the healing arts? If you wish to stay, I'd like to make use of you where you would be most useful." She studied the fae, appraising her form, wondering where she might begin. If the fae had no real skills to boast of she would be an Omega and would train where she might find herself to be useful.

Just a little pain...

At the explanation of the packs, Helidos did sound by far the best. She shrugged. "I would say my talents lie in tracking and fighting. It may not seem like it, and I don't blame you for not believing me if you don't, but I was trained by my father who was an alpha... And then things went downhill... It's been a few months since my training was put to a stop. I think with a little bit of time, maybe like a few weeks of self training, I could remember all the skills I learned... Maybe I could find a temporary mentor. I'm not sure. I can hunt as well, but it's not a strong-suit. Overall, I'd say my wished rank would be a Warrior... But as I said, it's been a few months." Lyric shifted a little, slightly nervous. Vacant and errant thoughts ran amuck in her mind, all fear of being tracked down by the ghosts of her past or getting turned away from this pack. She wasn't sure if she could stand that rejection. Would she be able to come back from that and attempt to join yet another pack? She frowned at those thoughts.

She walks. | "She talks." | She thinks.

Apologies for the long wait. Lyrics is accepted as a Warrior and may role play in Helidos and Neutral Territories. Please change your name to Warrior Lyric and add yourself to the Helidos group under the Ranks tab up the top.

Thank you for being so patient.
