LIKE TOY SOLDIERS
BIT BY BIT, TORN APART, WE ALL FALL DOWN
"Xymnesina! Ragnaar! Come on, this isn't funny anymore!"
Weeks. It had been weeks since his siblings had disappeared. There was no words, no traces left behind that the young male could follow. Two other pups had also vanished, and ironically all were sons of the Alpha. His mother gave him no information that she might know regarding them. Hell, she barely seemed concerned at times. He'd nearly searched the entire territory but had found nothing. He was beginning to panic, his head wouldn't shut up about worrying about them. Often times at night he would just lay there, waiting for them to run into the den yelling 'Surprise!' or 'We got you!' for hours before falling asleep due to exhaustion. Sadly, that hadn't happened. And he was beginning to lose hope that it would. For now, all the young wolf could due, was continue forward with his life. And possibly, he could stop trying to find them one day. For all he knew, he was growing tired of this game of hide-n-seek.
Looking up, his eyes followed the long towering trunks of the trees that rose above him. Their branches created a canopy of shade, light flickering through breaks in the leaves. It was cooler here than it was in the open. The darker lighting giving the air a cooler temperature than that of which is in the sun. Lowering his hind legs to the ground, Corruption let out a sigh as he hung his head. Why was he left alone? What caused his siblings to leave? "Why am I the one left behind?" he whispered. His voice was soft and pleading. Desperate to know why and how. What and who. When and where. Anything. Alive or dead. Happy or unhappy. Even if it was the worst of news, he wanted to know. His tail curled around his side, the tip of his paw drawing lazy circles within the dirt -a habit of his he had when alone or thinking. His ears lay back and flat, golden eyes sad and lonesome. He'd wondered how he'd gotten his color eyes, neither Braelyn or Alpha Teren had gold eyes. Why did he?
So many questions he had, and so many answers he had yet to receive. He was young, and already he had so many questions about the world and why things were as they are. He was curious and wanted to learn. Could anyone really deny him the right to be? If he didn't find the answers he hoped to find, he would have to venture outside of the territory he had yet to leave. But part of him was afraid to do so. He didn't know what was beyond the borders, nor if he was really allowed to go beyond them without an adult yet. It was strange, he had no idea what his boundaries were. And yet, he felt so confined in the cage of ignorance.

Summer had made no delay in its effort, approaching fast and taking over the land in a scorched inferno. The heat breathed only from the hottest of creatures, it's fire destroying everything and anything it can catch in its grasp, rumored to even turn the earth to ash and dust. What the fae had heard was not before her now but she could only imagine this was a close second to that which had been called a nightmare. Burning, was what the Delta could feel against her dark coat, the strands of color practically melting with each second she continued exposed in the sun. Beneath her was no bliss either, the pads on her paws in each step closer to burning. Perhaps the fae was being a bit excessive in her take to the temperature of day, but it was still uncomfortable to deal with. In all of her four years, Braelyn would have been expected to be use to this heat but from what the fae would gather in memories, this madden humanity was a new experience. The Delta simply hoped her two youngest were dealing well in this weather with their father. It had been weeks since the spring litters were sent out to be picked up and taken by Agavos. Ragnaar and Xymesina among them. It was a bit difficult to know they wouldn't be around anymore, but knowing the truth that they were somewhat safe with Desoto made everything easier to process.
One who was dealing with the situation harder was her last and oldest son still in Erenyx - Corruption. The poor brute did not know of the plan and was completely left in the dark. Abandoned in his thoughts now to worry of his siblings and their half's. Braelyn didn't like to see him so distressed, but not telling him was a precautionary measure. For her and his own sake, as well as Juno and her brood. It was the Delta's unpleasant task to explain to her son the situation she put all of them in the moment she realized she wanted to be with the dark brute from afar. How Corruption would handle the news was a mystery to her but it was a mystery that taunted Braelyn's mind. The two were, what she would like to think, close as much a mother and son could be and if he disowned the fae... well, that was a thought she didn't really like to think about. It wouldn't be the first time someone wanted nothing to do with her though. Today was the day however, where she would confess nothing but the truth to her son and for the second time, leave herself vulnerable to getting hurt emotionally and possibly physically if Corruption took to express himself with actions rather than words. Now, seeking out the young adolescent, Braelyn found herself striking the ground with her nose to find any scent or clue to where the apprentice had run off.
Leaving the open and trotting into the shaded and concealing vegetation that was Redwood Forest, it was a nice change to feel upon her paws and fur. The area much more cooler and for that she silently thanked the trees for their coverage. It didn't take long after coming into the woodland did Braelyn began to hear the voice she was looking for. Auds rotating, they correlated with the sway if her banner as she walked towards the source. In a matter of seconds, the Delta could see him however her placid expressed showed nothing but a small frown as she heard the adolescents confused and hurting remark. Motherhood was a foreign thing, among many others, and Braelyn was torn between comforting her son or leaving before he could recognize her presence. The fae had no clue what to say and she did not want to make matters worse. Green orbs watching Corruption as he hung his head and with sad eyes drew in the dirt, the fae could tell he needed her and if not her then a friend. One she could be if he didn't want the initial option. Stepping out of the shadow she was hiding in, the fae made no effort to speak but instead sat beside the apprentice, her banner curling around her thigh as she looked into the distance. Braelyn would offer silent comfort but she would not speak, letting the young male voice whatever he wanted as the Delta was ready to listen and answer any questions the male had.

Within the span of a few minutes there was movement besides his own. Quiet footsteps and no voice to announce entry, but he knew. The presence of a child's mother to itself was something that never was ignored or unseen. Neatly she sat, tail tucked around around her side and her body not touching his own. Mouth closed she was as silent as always, not offering any sort of information. He glanced up sideways at the Delta, pleading for her to saw the first words. But they didn't register. Flattening his auds he looked back down, continuing to draw his little intricate circles in the dirt. Opening his jaws, in a soft whisper he spoke. Not wanting to break the silence that hung over the too so suddenly. "Do they hate me or something?" he paused for a few seconds, "Why would they just leave and disappear? The other pups too. Pups don't just disappear...Right?"

Perhaps it had been wrong of her. Wrong of the mother to the be so silent when in the presence of her last and only remaining pup here in Erenyx; to have kept his siblings whereabouts a secret for as long as she had and to have kept the truth about Desoto. Maybe. Maybe it had been in her fault to shield him from this information - he deserved to know and while the other forest knows she had intentions to protect him, it was really her own skin the Delta was trying to save. There would be no more secrets today. Braelyn had made that vow since she first arose this morning for patrol and now here, there was no possible way she could hold out on it any longer. The thoughts that tormented her son was slowly starting to have an effect on him. Since Ragnaar's and Xymesina's departure, the brute often looked depressed and troubled around the pack. Dealing with the change harshly as only his imagination was left to create scenarios of what possibly happened to them. It was not great of her to admit, but she had done nothing so far to even remotely ease whatever pain the male was in and coming to terms with that fact as she saw her son now, it struck to ache her heart with sadness.
Gazing into the forest, iris' as bright and green as the woodland brush that surrounded her now, the Delta sat neatly to herself beside Corruption. His brown and black mix so close to her own that if she where to lean to the side, the two would be touching. However, Braelyn made no notion to move and erase the small but noticeable gap between them as she stared into the distance. Line of sight being disrupted every so often as the female looked at the brute from the corner of her eye and at one moment, subtlety catching him staring up at her with nothing but pleading gold to do something before he, in defeat, gazed down once more in desolation. Jaws parting slightly, the Delta would turn her head to gaze down at him as if she was about to say something but in truth the fae didn't know where to begin and as quickly as her mouth opened, it closed with a faint huff. Noticing the small indent of circles on the terrain, Braelyn watched if not for a second until she heard the small murmur of her son. Turning her orbs to land on his figure, she instead watched him attentively as he began.
The first few words alone was enough to force the fae's auds down, Braelyn a bit taken aback as well at the question presented. It was the same inquiry she herself had asked over and over in her youth regarding her own kin but that situation was different. This situation was different. The pups didn't actively seek to abandon or mistreat Corruption, it had been her choice for them to go to Agavos and nothing to do with the adolescent at all in regard to his siblings feelings towards him. Standing quickly and motioning her body to stand directly in front of the male, Braelyn lowered herself to lay her stomach upon the earth so she was leveled eye to eye with her son, if not a bit lower in her current position. "Don't even think such things, you and I both know they don't hate you nor would they." The Delta spoke, her tone soft but sure as she started, and now that she had began, it would be a while before she stopped. "No, pups don't just disappear and there is a reason why the few who are gone have done so. A reason I have selfishly kept from you and for that I apologize."
"It was not my intention to make you feel so unwanted by your siblings or to keep you in the dark for as long as I have, but I promise that ends today. I will tell you everything you wish to know, my dear."

_______________ ▼ _______________ He Runs. "He Cries." He Screams.
Gentle, pain filled, golden eyes stared at the Delta female of Erenyx. She cut him off, shutting down the possibility that his siblings hated him almost instantly. Trembling slightly, not out of fear of her but rather the real reason he could not find them in this long game of hide-n-seek. And so he continued, asking if pups could just vanish. A cold feeling washed over his body, instantly making him feel cold despite the summer heat. Braelyn was now laid before him, her eyes just about level with his own. He couldn't help but question what she felt for him, if he was a disgrace to have the odd colored eyes of the family of green-eyed wolves. If his pelt was too blended together, or if the patch of white on his chest was a marking Teren would hate to call his own. But he dared not ask until she had finished speaking. He loved his mother, and even if she was a lowly Omega, he would still listen to her with undivided attention.
Her tone was soft, gentle yet firm as it always was. She never seemed to yell, or get angry. She just taught him, making sure he knew where the territories were and what to do should he get lost. All the things that he would need to know from a mother. She was a support beam, and he knew he could go to her if he needed help or attention. But her next words broke a part of him. She knows why the pups are missing and she didn't go get them? Or tell me? Tilting his head to the side a bit, Corruption stared at her puzzled for a moment. "Everything? No more keeping things from me?" His tail flicked down to his side, head returning back to it's normal stance. Looking straight at his mother, the apprentice thought for a moment what questions he really wanted. Having a starting few asked, "Where are they? Why are they there? When can I see them or can we get them back? How come I'm not with them?" Closing his jaws he would allow his family to explain to him all the questions he could possibly have.
