She had traveled from far away, looking, searching, carrying the pains heavy in her chest. She had found little comfort in the sour life of a loner for the short time she had shared it. But only this morning she had found salvation, a treeline held the sent of life, her new life, a pack worth living for. Maria had just been accepted by the kind Delta Marrok into this pack called Helidos this morning, and she was already making her way slowly to a den she would hopefully live the rest of her life in.

She gazed about with her icy blue optics to the canopy high above the trail she took. The various greens depending on the sunlight bewilder her mind, splattered with blinding light and moving in beautiful sink to the breeze. Looking down, she found herself staring down a roomy den, with many other wolf scents blanketing the forest clear smell around the den. Maria's face soon fell victim of a glowing smile as she stopped before the den known as the 'Caretaker Den'.

'This is my chance, my redemption, my sanctuary.' Maria thought to herself as she carefully crept forward, looking closely to every single crack and cranny of the den. It was perfect, and to think, she would be not only given protection, trust, shelter, water and food, but also an open window to socialize with other wolves. 'That's what I've been missing. Company.' She concluded with a quiet chuckle to herself.

"Your home now Maria, no more cold nights, no more starving. It's heaven from here on out." She whispers to herself as she lays her tired body down onto the new den floor as she slowly lets herself drift off into a light sleep.

Settling into the pack the day before, Fel had kept mostly to herself, even though she had truly missed the company of other wolves in the three years she had been on the run. Of course, the fae had met many packs throughout her travels, but she never found any real friends. Regardless, today was a new day, one to forget past grievances and begin a new chapter of her life. Fel stepped out of her den, observing the clearing. The scene was painted with vivid emeralds, the sunlight highlighting patches of healthy grass. Taking advantage of the enchanting weather, Fel padded towards one of the trails, enjoying the presence of the foliage as it embraced her.


A den came into view, along with the mixed scent of many wolves. This must 'be the caretaker’s den', the warrior thought. Although she didn’t dare go inside, afraid of disturbing a sleeping caretaker or pup, Fel found her curious paws moving her towards the entrance. She caught a glimpse of a light fae dozing a little ways in and decided not to wake her up, despite wanting to meet all the members of the pack. The onyx female turned around and began to move away, cringing at the sound of a twig cracking loudly underneath her forepaw. 'Great. Could you possibly be any louder?', Fel scolded herself silently. She turned to look at the den, watching for signs of movement within the enclosure.

Dreaming of a peaceful life here in this pack, Maria had been asleep for what seemed like seconds when a snap of a twig sent her into a defensive position. crouched down and up against the den wall, her lips curled back over her fangs, as her eyes sweep back and forth over the entrance of the den to see a wolf looking some what at her.

Maria didn't know this wolf, but remembering that she was in a pack now, she knew that she must be part of the pack. The shocked fae stood slowly, making her way out of the den with caution. Her icy blue gaze stayed on the female as Maria entered the golden light of the day, her white and light colored grey seem to lighten up some more with the bright light.

"Hello there stranger.." She says as she slaps on a slight smile on her lips. She looked at the dark colored fae with her head slightly tilted in wonder of how long she had been here before Maria sat down. The little nap didn't really help her groaning muscles, but it did help her tired eyes quite a bit.

In the shadows of the caretakers’ den, exposed fangs glistened and lowered as the white fae crouched down defensively. Of course, it was obvious that this was Fel’s fault, but she wasn’t about to give the overreacting caretaker any possible excuse for attacking. Standing firmly on her obsidian paws, she watched closely as the fae cautiously moved out of the den. As the other female moved into the rays of sunlight, Fel noticed the beautiful mixture of white and soft grey on her sleek pelt, which made her slightly self-conscious of her own long, raven pelt. 'Too many faes here, she thought, and all of them so pretty. While I’m just a scruffy warrior. Oh well.' Mentally waving away the unease, she dipped her head while her pale blue eyes shimmered with friendliness.
 

“I appologize for waking you up, I just haven’t met many wolves from the pack yet, so I had figured that I should go look around. Once I noticed you were asleep, I turned to leave, of course, but twigs seem to purposely get in my way nowadays.” She said with humor flavoring her calm tone. In a more serious manner she added, “I am Warrior Fel.”

Maria looked over the female, she was strong looking, and her pale blue eyes reminded Maria of her mothers. But taking a second look at the way she stood, so firmly and defensively, Maria wondered if the female was going to attack her, but then she remembered she gave off the growling and defensive look. This was most likely a response to Maria's movement. The pale colored female slowly stood up as the female before her spoke. Maria's ears perked forward as she listened to the other females words, when she said she hadn't met anyone in the pack yet, Maria's face lit up with a kind a hopefully smile.

As she ended, Maria took note that the wonderful female's name was Fel, and that she was a Warrior, thus, her name was Warrior Fel. "Hello Warrior Fel, and it's quite alright, I don't need much sleep." Maria says in a sweet and quiet tone, "I too am new to the pack, I was planning on catching a hour or two of sleep then go greet some people. But this is just as good." She says with a slight giggle at the end, her gaze looking around the two before returning to meet Fel's. 'I wonder if this will be a forever friendship..' Maria thought to herself as she smiled friendly like towards Fel, no longer alarmed by her presents.

Fel blinked slowly as the pale wolf spoke with a smile. Perhaps it was good that the twig had been there. Maybe, for the first time in years, she found a real friendship that would not end in hurt or betrayal, one that would last for the rest of her life. Just maybe...


Once the fae finished, Fel took up the conversation, “Then I am glad to have met you first. Shame I had to wake you up like that though. Regardless, it may be good to meet someone who is new here, instead of a senior warrior. I have a lot of proving myself to do here, and the last thing I want to do is to start off on the wrong paw. Especially after travelling for so long…” After a second of thought, Fel gently asked the fae, “So, you must be a caretaker?” in hopes of finding out her name. The raven female understood that she must still be a little groggy after being awakened, so Fel decided that it would be best to be casual in her reminders. The last thing she wanted to do was to make the wolf feel uncomfortable in any way.

This conversation was becoming very beneficial to Maria as she gained a friendship and some background information. Listening to Fel's voice with some kind of satisfaction in her emotions that she had found a friend, this, she was sure of. When Fel had finished her interesting short story, she added on a question and a little idiot thought popped into Maria's head. 'You forgot to mention your name you twit, now tell her your ranking name!' Maria harshly thought to herself as she felt idiotic for not doing so already. "Oh I'm sorry Fel, yes I'm a caretaker, caretaker Maria. I was told when I joined that there where two high ranking female who where expecting soon. I guess I'll have to go meet them soon, but I'm really glad to have meet one first." Maria explains to Fel her situation, "Though, I wasn't given any directions as to where I was going. I only knew to come here because of the scent of pups." Maria admits with a slight giggle in her playful tone.

As she looked at Fel, she wondered if she had encountered the same issues that she had in her last pack. 'I wonder if she will know what I should do..' Maria wondered to herself, looking down to the ground for a moment as the painful memories flood her mind. She then shook once, small but hard, to lock up those nasty memories once more so that she could return to the delightful conversation with Fel.

Fel dismissed the mistake with a flick of her obsidian ears. Tiny errors like this were not worth troubling someone over. She kept listening to the friendly wolf and commented at the end, “Well, I wish you luck with your new role here. It sounds like you’ll have your paws full with pups. I on the other hand, will probably rarely visit this area. Pups are not really my area of expertise, and I will not likely be having them anyway.” The fae gave a small laugh before continuing, “As for myself, I have been given no instruction either. I will be waiting to meet the alpha and talk to him, as well as some of the other wolves. After all, a warrior must know their assigned patrols.”


As the light female looked towards the grass near her paws, Fel noticed flickers of pain and sorrow in her thoughtful azure gaze. When she looked up, Fel met her eyes with her own pale pools of wisdom. “Everyone has bad memories,” she said in her calm voice, “But such is life. The wolf who truly learns to live is not the one that ignores their scars, but the one that accepts them. That is how you become strong.” Fel was no wise medicine wolf, but her knowledge and smooth tongue had allowed her to become quite believable in her words, not that Fel would say something that she didn’t mean in the first place.

Maria listened closely to Fel's words, they seemed almost funny to Maria, how a female could not want pups of her own. Maria wanted pups, oh yes indeed, the years of watching them grow up and call her Nana or Maria in that loving tone had effect her stand put on pups. But then when she spoke again after a brief moment for air, Maria nodded her head, understanding the need to speak with the alpha. 'It almost seems wrong to be in a pack and not know the names of the Alphas.' Maria thought to herself as she looked at Fel for a moment.

When Fel started talking in her wise voice, Maria felt as if she was a pup again, listening to her mother speak in her wise voice. But Maria understood what she was trying to say. Maria was truly glad to have met this wolf, Fel, her new friend. Slight laughter crossed her smiling lips as she remembered of the few things she did remember as a pup. "Thank you Fel, those where very wise words, and I too, wish you good luck in the brave job of protecting this pack. I hope you do change your mind about the pups and visit me often, I'm afraid I will grow lonely down here." Maria giggled quietly in her soft tone, her tail swaying slowly against the ground as she found herself in true content here. "I don't feel as bad anymore, I mean, so what? Can't change the past, only the future." She admitted to Fel, wondering why at all she let the memories in. "The feeling of new pride in myself, having an actually purpose in life, its like having a second chance you know?" Maria admitted, feeling like she could tell Fel anything, even how she was really feeling.

Fel shrugged off the comment. She never liked pups, and besides, to have pups, she had to have a mate. If any male would put up with her, than would be an interesting phenomenon indeed. She listened quietly as Maria spoke, while a subtle breeze ruffled her long mountain fur, sending a cool bliss throughout her side. The female had always found this season to be quite uncomfortable considering her thick onyx pelt, but in the shade of the emerald foliage, it was as peaceful as in autumn.


Once the lighter fae was finished, Fel looked the side and began, “I wouldn’t say brave. When you have nothing to lose, it is not bravery. And I know exactly what you mean. A second chance indeed. A second round at the game, a second opportunity to win, or fail. Regardless, I already have tasted defeat, so fear no longer holds me back. I sought a purpose as well, and I found this pack, being quickly accepted as a warrior. It can only get better I suppose.” Swaying her long tail against the tall grass, Fel stretched her powerful shoulders and asked, "I will head back to the clearing. Would you care to accompany me?”

Maria found herself at a loss of thought as the words Fel spoke echoed in her ears, she was a kind female that seemed to have the wisdom of the elderly and the spirit of a pup, but also is equipped with the maturity of an adult. 'What an interesting female Fel is, she is just absolutely delightful...' Maria thought in conclusion about Fel. But then, Fel asked her about whether or not Maria would accompany her to the clearing. Maria had to think about that of course, though she already knew she was going. 'Am I ready to meet the alphas? Am I ready to meet the pack? What if they all stare?' The terrible memories flood back in for a moment, before Maria looked to Fel, her strong will seemed to block out the old memories of the old Maria.

Now she would be rebuilding her strength, for she wasn't the warrior she use to be, no, this new Maria is a kinder, softer Maria. 'Fel won't lead me into that, she's my friend.' Maria concluded once again, looking back up to Fel with her glowing smile across her innocent face. "Of course I will Fel! We are friends now aren't we?" Maria giggled with excitement. The pale colored female looked back towards the Caretaker den, her den, the place she needed to remember how to get to before she would leave. "Are we going to see the Alphas there?" She asked almost afraid, but she really wasn't, because she had met Marrok this morning, and he was a high ranking male whom was so kind. 'The Alphas must be kind.' Maria thought to herself, 'So suck it up Maria.' She growled to herself, then looked to Fel with a slightly bigger smile across her lips.

Listening to Maria’s giggle, she flicked her ears dismissively at the question. ‘It is best for her to think what she pleases. If she wants a friend in me, so be it,’ Fel thought to herself. It was not that Fel did not want to be friends, but rather she had trouble replying to such a blunt question. She hoped that the fae would not sense any hesitation in her gesture. The obsidian female turned, whisking her tail against the grass carelessly as her paws moved down the shaded jade forest.


Although she sensed a bit of hesitance in the question, Fel ignored it and answered in a convincing tone, “I’m not sure. It was fairly empty when I left it, so I wouldn’t be surprised if no one was there. I guess we will soon find out though.” Enchanted by the beauty of the rustling emerald leaves, Fel forgot to keep in mind her taller build, not slowing her long legs in their fast gait for her new companion. The warrior wasn’t much of a runner, but walking with speed was something she did almost automatically. Soon a stronger light shimmered at the end of the trail, and a vast expanse of clear forest floor opened up before the two faes. Fel stopped herself at the entrance to the forest path, or exit if you please, and looked around the main section of the camp. To her left was a rocky hill, with her own den located somewhere along the foot of it. Without thinking too much about it, Fel began to pad towards her rocky home.
