PostSubject: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 1st 2014, 19:23

He had overheard wolves speak about the cliffs that lingered in the Erenyx territory, and since then this was a place he visited often. Even with the dangers, this area was quiet, fairly safe if one was careful, and when the fog cleared... it was magnificent. It did not seem that many could see the beauty in this place. Others only saw the death, the fog, and the dangers that were spread in rumors. The cliffs he knew and the ones others knew were entirely different. The moss and snow covered rock settled on the ground and the earth made it easy to slip, but with Saki's constant coming and goings, his paws had made a light path, made of only dry dirt and soft snow.

Saki took prudent steps, to make sure he did not place his paw in the wrong place. One wrong step, and it would be the end of him, not that anyone cared really. He went down the path, looking only at the ground and at his paws, because the air was so thick with fog that one could not see a few feet in front of him. He knew how to time it now, after 30 minutes he would have to stop, and take each steps cautiously. At that time he would be nearing the edge.

By the smell of the air, the fog was beginning to fall, the morning sun causing the mist to become heavy, and settle to the ground. Saki was near the edge. The time had come, and the lonely dead tree marked by his claws was rooted to his right. From there on he followed the path carefully, never looking ahead, only at exactly where he was stepping. Finally he reached the cliff edge, but when Saki looked over he could not see down more than a few yards due to the thick mist. He heaved a heavy sigh as he neared his morning place.

Through the fog, light began to trickle in ever so slightly. He continued to follow the edge, until he reached the point of the cliff. There, was a large rock, shaped like a heart if looked from straight above. It was taller than Saki, reaching about two feet above him, and it was ten feet across. A smaller stone served as a stool, and Saki used this to climb the boulder, and position himself comfortably and watch the sunrise.

The fog was beginning to move out, and Saki could feel the excitement building. He hadn't been here during the winter yet, too much to do, like avert others... He sighed and placed his head in his paws, waiting impatiently for the fog to settle, so he could see the sight he so wanted to witness. If only others saw the beauty in this place...

No matter where he was, it was to be considered a place of frequent travel. Particularly the territories inside of Erenyx's lands, for often when he was finished with his patrols along the border, he would travel somewhere lesser populated by his fellow wolves to gain a few moments of privacy. He was relatively undisturbed, even when to be positioned in the heart of the camp. Erenyx knew him to be a Delta of few words; one that, although wasn't "unkind" by definition, was isolated enough to be deemed unapproachable. He generally liked to keep to himself. There was no better company than the endless lands stretched before his paws, and the smell of the fresh air as its cold, wintry fingers danced along the surface of his nose as he inhaled.

Upon this inhalation, however, he was familiarized with the scent of another from his pack. Although he wasn't curious enough to pursue, he found himself doing so regardless out of the simplistic desire to keep upon the path that he had chosen earlier. Perhaps he had originally been aiming to remain by himself this morning, though he wouldn't turn away the second that another wolf posed to cross his path. After only a few brief moments, he saw the figure slightly ahead of him, positioned on top of a large stone that overlooked the sunrise from the side of the cliff. Most never ventured so close the the side, knowing what a misstep could mean for their life. Most would also consider such bravery unfitted to an Omega, but the Delta male was under the belief that a rank didn't stand to mean anything about a personality. Here, he probably didn't think anybody else from his pack would find him - let alone bother to join him. Despite the inclination not having settled into his brain, his paws worked up the boulder anyways to claim a position at the Omega's side.

Dark gold eyes fixed upon the other male for a few short seconds, before turning to look into the beginning of a foggy sunrise. He had never been here at this hour, so up until this point he had never realized how beautiful a sight there was to behold. Regardless, his expression failed to soften. He didn't say a single word to the wolf at his flank, sitting as still as stone as the fog continued to slowly succumb to the sun's luminescent glow. If Saki knew anything about his pack's Delta male, then he had perhaps assumed as much about what his company would serve to be like. He rarely initiated a conversation - speaking only when spoken to - but that didn't define his ability to sit in silence, appreciating something as simple, and yet as plainly breath-taking, as a sunrise in the absence of what words could never manage to properly explain.

PostSubject: Re: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 2nd 2014, 11:26

The view began to open up, as the fog began to settle below his paws. It still shrouded the figure to his left, the one that only minutes ago had planted himself beside Saki, looking in the direction of the blossoming sunrise. He looked at the wolf, and then around himself, ears and nose twitching with confusion. The visitor must have made a mistake, coming to sit beside, him, not saying a word, not pestering him. Most when they noticed him would glare or trample over him as if he did not exist. Perhaps they disowned him for being such a lowlife. But, Saki didn't mind. He knew where he stood for himself. And if others did not accept him who cares, no one, not even himself. It's not like he wasn't used to it. His whole life he was treated as if he were lower than wolf. Saki knew otherwise, but the pack could live in that ignorance if they wished.

From what he knew of his pack, this one he was a Delta. A far higher rank than he could ever dream of. Irrationality, he believed the male's name was. Finally, Saki shifted to look at the wolf beside him, keeping his body laying so it was understood he was submitting. "You lost?" He finally said, not flinching or moving at all afterwards, not sure how the wolf would react to his speaking. Everyone was different, after all, to how they treated him.

The fog was now low enough so that the cliffs could be seen, and so that the lake below was covered in the thick mist. The sun had already risen over the high ridges that surrounded the lake, and it showered the fog in a blanket of pinks, oranges, and violets. Beyond the top of the ridges, a valley could be seen beyond, the haze not too bad, so it looked like the world would never end. Unfortunately, Saki was not looking, too focused on the male in front of him. He was not afraid, not at all, though he only just realized his visitor could simply throw him off the cliff If he pleased. Still, Saki did not fear, he was used to it. And the scars that broke his fur and damaged his muzzle were evidence of that.

He stared into the endless abyss of vivid colours, all harmonizing into a plethora of various shades that worked as one to create something artistic to the commoner's eye. It was soothing; perhaps, to an extent, even glorious as it continued to enrich its many hues, the fog succumbing to its vibrancy. His attention was only able to be captured elsewhere by the sound of the other wolf's voice, bronze ears pricking and rotating to fully listen to his statement. The idea of getting lost in his own pack lands was quite laughable, but no traces of amusement were able to reach his face.

"No," the single syllable was spoken quietly, as if he'd disrupt the tranquility of this moment should he raise his voice any further. "I had been walking along a familiar path long before I realized I was sharing this area with another." Finally, he turned his head in such a manner that allowed him to glance towards the Omega, tilting his chin downwards upon realizing that he was attempting to submit. Irrationality was likely the only wolf within the hierarchy classification in Erenyx that didn't expect another to show their respect to him at all times. Being challenged was a completely different scenario, but when partaking in something as simple as a conversation . . . it seemed so arrogant to demand that another place their nose on the ground before your paws. He asked it of nobody, though he wasn't about to correct the lowly ranked wolf for doing what it was so many others probably asked of him. Perhaps he would learn on his own that he'd get no such reprimands from the likes of Irrationality.

"Is this is a place that you frequently visit? I would have never felt the inclination to scale this boulder for the sake of watching the sunrise." Which, of course, was true. He had never watched the sunrise as intently as he was now. It didn't interest him. The beauty of the world was something he often overlooked, and although he didn't think that this one time watching it was going to change anything about his perception, that didn't mean he wasn't able to appreciate it. It seemed like Saki, if he recalled correctly, cherished the simplicity and the gorgeousness of this view. It was understandable, but the Delta male, no matter how beautiful, never would have come here on his own hadn't Saki been sitting there to pique at his interest.

Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Empty
PostSubject: Re: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 2nd 2014, 19:34

(I wish I had your gifts of description :D)

Saki was confused by the odd male. He didn't know whether to submit, or to act normal. To speak or not to speak. The delta seemed like he didn't care. His features never moved nor did he seem to like the sunrise. Not that he asked him to enjoy it, but it was something quite special to Saki. This was the only place he felt like he mattered, in a way. Here, he did not bother anyone, nor did they bother him. It felt like he was supposed to watch the morning sun, like he was meant to. Like it was his duty, to be the caretaker and library to the secrets of the area.

Saki was surprised the wolf even replied. Most didn't, perhaps he was different. "Yes, I come here quite often. As much as I can... to get away." He paused, and blinked, only to turn his head and look at the sunrise that he had already missed. A sigh escaped his parted jaw, and he continued quietly. "Although laughable to some, I do love the sunrise. Have never really felt warmth from any other more than I do this view." He spoke passionately, for he felt as if the sunrise was the only thing between him either taking his own life, leaving the pack, or mostly... being beaten everyday by the others. One day, he would loose it. He was weak, but fast, and he was quite confident no one could out run him. He could give it to them like they deserved, like every bully out there deserved for making his life hell. Chiara, so far had been the only kind force in his life. Her, and this sunrise. Perhaps when he died he would join the beams of light that would one day rest upon another, and bring some warmth to them as the light did for he.

Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Empty
PostSubject: Re: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 2nd 2014, 21:15

[It just takes practice. c: You roleplay very well, too!]

He could feel Saki's confusion. The hesitance was written in every cautious flicker of his eyes, and every shuffle of his paws on top of the boulder. It wasn't something he wasn't used to, however. It took most a long time to figure him out; most, in fact, never quite did. Perhaps he was one of the select few out there that nobody was meant to fully understand - a puzzle with some of the pieces missing. A picture that would never be complete. Sometimes, if he stared at his reflection for too long, even he felt some of the confusion and the frustration that he often saw in others when they looked at him. He didn't see himself, he saw blankness. This unexplainable nihility that was more monstrous than it was fascinating. Of course, there were many from his pack that were far more cruel than he was. But he didn't care about that, which was precisely the point. Not caring was, sometimes, the worst part of someone. That moment when eyes meet, and one pair is simply existing in the absence of feelings. It was like looking into the face of a statue, and at times it could be frightening - even when that face of stone meant no harm. It was scary for others to admit that they couldn't read into someone else's emotions, not even a little bit. His intention was never to make others uncomfortable, but it just came along with the territory.

Said eyes of stone, of glass, turned to Saki even as he focused upon nothing other than the retreating sunrise as it progressed towards the highest point in the sky. His words spoke of this sadness that Irrationality would never be able to bring himself to feel, or to properly sympathize with. He had never led the life of an Omega, and thus knew not what it meant to serve at the lowest possible rank. He assumed that it couldn't be easy when living with a pack like Erenyx. Strength was important here; it proved who was capable of excelling. If you could overpower, then you could outrank. Those two things went hand-in-hand. It wasn't always the most agreeable means of maintaining hierarchy, but the Delta male was in no position to start asking questions or trying to push for change. He wasn't exactly talented when it came to offering words of comfort, so instead he settled with the truth. "Warmth of the heart is a rarity outside of Helidos." He knew the majority of his pack mates well enough to assume that they craved confrontation, and some, even sadism. He would never be the type to pursue such hateful courses of action, but he wasn't a male of complete positivity either - it was what lured him to stay, and to keep fighting for the side he did regardless of how much he found himself belonging. Sometimes, Helidos proved more suited to some of the decisions he made (like being neutral towards this Omega), but none would be able to deny that he was a monster in his own way. He did well in Erenyx. He was their robot; their unfeeling mechanism that knew the meaning behind turning a blind eye. "Here, you earn respect - or this warmth, so you say - through strength. Hateful personalities, morbid personalities, collect here and call themselves a pack."

The system of Erenyx wasn't always one to be considered welcoming, but it was efficient in its own mysterious way. This pack, these wolves, mostly thrived under the kind of leadership that Erenyx had. Not everyone could fight to hold power here, but Saki remained despite the ranking that he possessed. Even as an Omega, knowing what kind of mistreatment it provoked, he hadn't yet left. Maybe he was getting closer to making that decision. Irrationality had no way of knowing, but regardless, he had a kind of strength that was unusual in Erenyx - a kind that, though didn't demand the kind of respect he maybe wanted for himself, was important nonetheless. "I don't imagine it is easy serving under the title that you hold, and yet you cope." He didn't give out compliments, but this was the closest he'd get. "Perhaps you'll find that warmth in more than the sun one day."

PostSubject: Re: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 2nd 2014, 22:07

What made him stay? Because everything that happened to him would have made any one else with a straight mind to leave. Sure, he was used to torment, but it wasn't like he enjoyed it.  Maybe, he thought the challenge to strive for more. He had always wanted more from himself, but had never found it. He always wanted to prove to everyone else that, he too, could be more than what he was currently. Possibly he wanted to prove this to his father. No. That dirt bag would die, he hoped by his fangs, when he was ready. Saki wished no kind of sympathy from him. He wanted sympathy from no one, only their understanding that he mattered.

Strength, what was the definition? He was stronger, maybe not physically, or even mentally. But he had the will of an alpha, or so he thought. The determination that other wolves would take for granted. He would do the most irrational things, but for the cause of a greater purpose. He would get his way out of this sickly rank, and push his way up, until others would listen to him. But never, would he make one submit. The thought of the word made him want to laugh. All of this hatred, this morbid personalities that the delta mentioned. That was him, most definitely. But it showed in other ways then most. He was kind, most of the time, though he could get snippy. And from the outside and speaking one might say he is soft. But most of the time, he was building up hatred, the idea he dislike at points. He hated the wolves that thought lesser of him. They would see, he would come around to them one day. They would see true strength.

"It's hard, it is. But I have fought oppression all my life, and I will continue to fight it until I reach the top. And if I can't, I will keep fighting until the day I die anyway." Saki looked back at the delta, his eyes lit with a spark of determination. "Respect, means nothing, if it is not earned. You say by strength, but is there really a definition?" He looked back toward the lighting sky. "You are not strong, if you are large, if you are smart, if you hold a high rank."
He let the words spit off his tongue,  furrowing his brow and baring his fangs. "All that matters is how you get there. All that matters is how badly you want it, even if you face impossible odds to reach it. Even if it is impossible- even if I am stuck in this god forsaken rank, true strength is will." He turned his gaze back to the wolf, his eyes narrowed on the high ranked wolf. "One is not deserving of respect, if they themselves, did not rise from the ashes." Saki was standing, chest puffing, his face cross. The delta pushed some button, and it set him off, which was not unrare, but surprising from an omega all the same. he noticed during his speech, somehow he had lost control of his tail, and it now was sitting comfortably above his flanks. Not feeling threatened by the wolf, he left it there, whether that started a fight or not, at this moment in time Saki didn't care much. He panted, and continued to stare at the dead eyes of the listener, the small wolf for a moment feeling a strike of power, or mostly confidence, that he was, in fact, stronger perhaps then a wolf of such high rank and esteem.

He listened to the Omega's speech - something that most would disregard - with his head slightly turned in the other's direction, and his eyes calculating. He didn't react when Saki bared his fangs, as if holding the intention to lash out at the Delta male. Not a single muscle shifted beneath his thick fur, radiating this nonchalance, this unconcerned composure, that allowed him to maintain an exterior of regality without so much as the lifting of his tail in a semblance of supremacy. Frightening him was an impossible feat, and it was even harder to stir a reaction of some kind from him. He could be provoked to fight back - and if the feeling of dead eyes upon you was uncomfortable, teeth that held no such remorse held the potential to be a thousand times worse - but even that hardly gave the opposed satisfaction because he didn't strike back with an emotion of any kind. Saki could continue to bare his fangs, and he could continue to let his tail arch above his spine in an attempt to dominate, but Irrationality would remain neutral and uncaring to submit, or to counter his dominance, until the Omega decided to take matters further and actually attack.

"Strength means different things for different wolves." For the Delta, his true strength was perhaps his ability to be so unbiased; to watch life take its course, and no matter what, not do a thing to change it. Being robotic down to the bone, having this mechanical behavior hammered into his brain and into his heart, was his strength. Nobody else was exactly like him. Nobody else could really claim to be emotionless, and mean every word. For him, emotion was weakness. For Saki, strength was will. "I haven't risen from the ashes, so you say. Perhaps I am undeserving of the title I hold and your respect, then." He didn't phrase his words as a question. He didn't do so because it mattered not what he did or did not deserve. The simple fact was that he was a Delta male, and had become such when former Alpha Steele believed him to have earned it. An Alpha, after all, had the strength of words - something, even if they didn't deserve (which many believed questionable of Steele), they had nonetheless. Steele could arch his tail and call Irrationality a Delta, and suddenly that was exactly what he became. It was so easy. It happened with no complaint. Perhaps, unnoticed, there had been a single complainer along the outskirts, after all?

A pack wasn't a matter of who deserved what, it was simply who had what and who didn't. Likely, if someone of higher ranking - Teren, Nyx, or Katyusha - showed up, Saki would be punished for his disrespect, or Irrationality questioned thoroughly for not possessing the inclination to have attacked the Omega as soon as the positioning of his tail rivalled his own. None of them were present, however. And that meant Saki was free to take as many risks as he pleased, and to get as angry as he willed himself to be. The Delta had not intended to strike a chord inside of the other male, but he wouldn't take back his words, even if it meant that it could spare him this wolf's wrath. "Your definition of strength, and your idea of how a pack should be operated, are both rather intriguing. Shameful Erenyx doesn't accept a change in Alpha outside of killing the previous one." Shameful was such an interesting word choice for him. He wasn't ashamed at all. After all, he would not disagree with the fact that killing was a pretty good way of determining strength.

Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Empty
PostSubject: Re: Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Whispering Smoke {Saki/Irrationality} Icon_minitimeAugust 13th 2014, 23:46

The omega listened carefully, calming his shallow breaths and relapsing his own words, soon falling back into his small, reserved self, which had reverted into it's old submissive demeanor. His tail swooped under his belly, as he sat. He expected no reaction from the male about it, as evidence proved only moment ago when he held his confidence. He turned to look at the rising sun, in which was beginning to be covered again by the heavy fog, as it lifted through the air and over the cliffs once more.

Finally, Saki shrugged in response, not sure much of what to say, "Perhaps, I am wrong. Who knows, anyway." He continued to stare into the mist, that was closing in on them. "Maybe strength is different to everyone, like you said. Hell, that doesn't mean that strength isn't unfair." He grimaced, as fog lapped over his paws. The sun was shrouded now, no longer recognizable as a circle, rather, then an constant light source that somehow cut through the mist.

Saki stood again, glancing at the Delta (now beta I see congrazzles) with a contorted expression. It felt awkward now, after he had vented in front of the esteemed wolf with little restraint. "It doesn't seem like you bother much, but for what it's worth, thank you. I have never met a wolf... that was not willing to hurt me." Sadly, that was actually the truth. Even Chiara, the female who accepted him into Erenyx, threatened him when he didn't show submission to her. The delta was different, to say the least. Wise, but reserved to share his wisdom.

(Im sorry this took so long, I wrote it a while ago, but then my internet stated being crazy, and this nice, long post was lost. My internet hasn't been working right for about a week, so I couldn't do long posts without it cutting out DX I think its all better now, though.)
