Mei breathed heavily as her life finally fell into place. She took a sharp breath, and let it out slowly in a sigh. The heat was getting to her and with an ebony pelt, she honestly felt like she was burning. Her tongue flicked over her nose as she kept to the shade with quick movements. She was letting her nose guide her to the nearest water source. She walked until she was ready to pass out, and that was when she had wandered up to the border. She was smart enough to not pass into the lands, but perhaps they could point her in the direction of water, since she was new to the lands she roamed. She sat under the shade of a tree and tilted her head to the sky, her maw parting and the voice she used so rarely tearing through the air. The waiting game was she had to play out now, her silver eyes dancing. Oh... but... it's a pack... maybe... well, maybe they won't just give directions to a water source, but perhaps they will let me join their numbers and be apart of their home. She pondered quietly to herself, eyes searching the area in hopes of catching glimpse of whom may come her way.

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live
The morning sun was a menace to the lands. It was hot and dried up a lot of their water sources. There were parts of the territories with more water than others, but it was a trek to reach them. Azul had wandered the outskirts of the packfor this very reason. But as the sun was hanging high over the world, he found himself wandering back. He could hear a howl and since he was already on his way back to the borders, he made his way there. This howl was that of a female, a soft and tender sound that made him smile. When he finally made it to the area where she stood, he relaxed his body. There was no need to be unfriendly. She was smaller than he was and showed no signs of being a threat. "Greetings fae, my name is Azul and you have found the lands of Helidos. Is there anything I can help you with? Perhaps you are looking for a new place to call your home?" That was the reason that most wolves came to their borders, to join. But with the lack of rain and the very dry lands, others would need water or at least to know where some was for them to quench their thirst. He was kind enough to help those in need.

It didn't take long for her to have her call answered. She watched an older male approach and speak kindly. She was taken back, but recovered easily. She wasn't used to such kindness, but she was very eager to accept it. She lowered her head in a dip, greeting him with respect. She could already tell she liked the brute very much. She wrapped her tail around her paws and let her ears flick against her skull in submission. "Well, Azul, I was wandering around a bit as I am new unto these lands. I was not seeking for a home... until I came across the border to... Helidos? You seem pleasant and I must know... is the rest of Helidos like you? Because if they are, then indeed I am looking to stay." She hoped her words didn't confuse him, but she meant it. His kindness and the like was exactly what she needed and wanted in her life. She was tired of traveling and though she was thirsty, it wasn't just for water... but perhaps a place and wolves she could call home and family. She took a moment to breathe and relax slightly. "Oh my! how rude of me! My name is Mei." She breathed out the words quickly and just loud enough that he'd be able to hear her. She let her gaze touch the ground and she would merely await a response while trying her best to be patient and seek his words.

She was pleasant, so he smiled. It was nice to see this type of reaction from a complete stranger. She would be a good fit here. But why a wolf would come to a border when they were not actually seeking a new home was rather strange to him. Others had come here for that reason - a new life. They wanted to grow and change, or possibly flee from a horrible past. The Elder was a pleasant being himself and because of this, he liked to welcome others. "This pack was formed about five years ago ona foundation of love, trust, respect and honor. Everyone who lives in these lands has a pure heart and a willingness to help those around them. If you choose to become a member of our home, you will be welcomed joyfully. We are a giant family and closer than any wolves I have ever met. It is a pleasure to meet you Mei. But to properly place you, I must know what kind of skills you have. This is so we know what rank to give you of course. I do not need to know your whole past if you do not feel comfortable to share it. These lands are controlled by Alpha Sitka, who like myself, is a very kind and loving being. He would be happy to welcome you as well."

She sat there in silence, clinging to every word he spoke. She licked her ebony nose softly and tilted her head to the side. "Oh no, deary me, my past is such a bore. I was raised well and trained in everything, from herbs to hunting to fighting. My parents didn't exactly love me or treat me like a princess, and my siblings were always rough and spoiled... but really it's a bore." She spoke rather quickly and bluntly. "Once again, my skills range to almost everything. But in my honest opinion, I am better suited for Hunter!" She let her words fall out in a calm tone as her eyes danced with joy. She wagged her tail lightly and grinned. "I will gladly pledge my life and heart unto this pack and it's alpha. To guard the wolves within and bring forth as much food and comfort as I can give." Unusual of her, she was normally not trusting of others, but the old brute vaguely reminded her of an elder that had been within her old pack and she somewhat felt comfortable with the thought.
She let her silver eyes wander away from the he-wolf. She studied the lands and the trees, the ground and the life that seemed to buzz around them. Yet, she didn't understand it one bit. She couldn't tell what was good or bad, and she really... didn't care. Sure she was enjoying a conversation with an elder male, and maybe she'd have a home, but she still felt very guarded and confused. She sighed and looked back unto the male, smiling weakly as she pondered what exactly she was doing. Sure she was pledging her life to a pack, but in her mind it would never last. But I can try... She thought quietly.

"Mine was also a bore," he said with a smile. "I have had a much more interesting life since being here. I can tell you that much. But you do not wish to sit at the border in this heat and listen to an old wolf rattle on. Welcome to Helidos, your new home. Once you cross over to my side of the border, you will be named Hunter Mei. The dens are towards the center of the pack. If you need me, I don't really have much responsibility these days, just get the occasional border call and anything the Alpha needs." He moved to turn back towards the pack. His golden eyes smiled as he looked to her. His tail wagged and he jerked his head away. "I hope you find what you are looking for here."

She listened intently and stared at him in awe. "Perhaps one day, we an tell each other about our pasts since we seem to have such boring lives back then." She chirped out in her calm tone. She stood carefully and listened to him invite her into the lands of Helidos. She listened to him tell her where everything was and excitement rose within her. "I'm finally home..." She whispered softly and picked up her pace to walk beside the old brute with a joyful step and a silly smile. Even though she was probably a bit darker than the wolves within, she figured she'd be able to both hide it and learn to control it better. After-all, she didn't want to be sent away for doing something wrong. So she'd try her very best to do everything right. Besides, it was only on the packs lands that she had to hide her demons... right?
